VATS is so awesome, it's not even funny. It hardly "Sucks" at all. It add's diversity to the game thats for sure, and is part of what makes the combat system as a whole in Fallout 3 so epic.

I loved Bioshock 1, and have yet to play 2, but I would pick FO3 over Bioshock 1, thats for damn sure. Will last you many more hours as well. MANY MANY more hours.

    Bloody Mess perk ftw. hahahaa

I think by 'everyone', you refer probably to a lot of 'old school' fans of Fallout 1 & 2 who seem to be really butthurt over the whole 'genre change' business. As someone who had never played Fallout before 3, I think the VATS system is great, allows for strategic combat while still keeping a lot of the action element, but you can still free-aim anyway. There's also good ol' melee combat, smacking people in the face with various objects. The original version is good by itself, but like Oblivion, I highly recommend getting the PC version if you have a good enough rig. I find it hard to play it without mods.

Haven't played Bioshock, so I don't really have an opinion on that.

I was a huge fan of FO and FO2, and I thought the change in 3 was very much an awesome thing. Way different, but faster pace. Don't get me wrong, the VATS style in 1 and 2 was awesome but improved with the action element in 3. I LOVE IT ALL

Then again I'ma huge Fallout whore.

Get Fallout, and then if you can, get Bioschock 1

It's a really underrated game but it's just so fantastic and satisfying!

Ok, so deviating from arguing over which classic game is better than the other (seriously, they're different experiences, but both must be played, I just wish I had more time to do so), Blacklight: Tango Takedown looks like a promising multiplayer FPS on the XBLA arcade.

From my time in the demo it seems pretty fun. Kinda confusing class and upgrade system, though.

Bioshock 2 sucks in comparison to 1 anyway, and they're both 10 hour games at best. Fallout 3 and The Orange Box are MASSIVE. You're getting insane quality and quantity for money with those two.

I would honestly put the experience of Bioshock (1) up there with Fallout and the Orange Box, length aside.

I honestly didn't even think it was that great. It was an underwater FPS with some magic spells. The way they made the game out to be before release was almost sandbox-like, setting up your traps as though it were an arena and enemies could approach from any side and force you into battles of epic proportions... it led the way to major disappointment.

But you can apparently approah a situation in somemany different ways (shooting out security ameras, distracting the bad guys, setting traps, going in guns blazing)

That makes four, and most of the time you don't really get a choice. You see a camera, you hack it, you see a robot, you hack it, you see an enemy, you throw shit at it.

I see. So it's too linear?
In that case, I'll go for Fallout 3

It was for me, other people might not think so. It's certainly not an open city that happens to be underwater. You have to do things in a certain order, room by room... and a bit of backtracking too.
