*sigh* It's cheaper to get the GOTY then buying the DLC along with the original game. Unless you find a really cheap version of Fallout 3, but still, nice to have everything on one disc.
If you wanna boil it down anymore, do you really need the video game? The game got a GOTY edition, of course the DLC'll be good.
But is there enough gameplay without? Is it necessary to enhance gameplay? Does it significantly improve the experience
Without DLC, you're looking at around 90-100 hours to get all achievements, probably around 60 hours if you manipulate saves to "cheat" your way to the other achievements.
You want the game of the year edition, you want the DLC, and you want to play FO3 right now becauseitsthebestgameevar.
Man I'm getting suh contrasting opinions on Bioshock 2 and Fallout 3. Does the combat in Fallout 3 "suck" as much as everyone says? Do you really end up using VATS all the time? And I haven't played Bioshock 1
VATS is the main part of the combat, free aiming is secondary. So yes, you will be using it most of the time, that's intentional. Oh, and VATS is epic when the heads start flying/bodies start vaporizing.
