That just seems to be a movie. With bad acting, but then that's the norm for all video games.

It's been a year since I beat Mass Effect 3. Finally starting the original ME. Going to try to play through the whole series. Still haven't bothered downloading the free DLC for the new Mass Effect 3 ending yet, lol. ME is essentially ME3 with worse graphics, clunkier menus, and a different story. Meh, I guess it's worth playing for the story.

I experienced the entire gamut of emotions playing that game. Even started the campaign again on Legendary Vault Hunter mode with my suitemate. It was too much... Just too much...

Just played 4 hours straight of Borderlands 2 with the roommate. Severely under-leveled (11) while exploiting open-world mechanics as usual! Apparently, we're on part 9/19 already for the main missions after 4 hours..

I beat Bioshock Infinite earlier today. Easily the best game I have ever played. I am so satisfied with the it, finally a game that is purely single player without a cliche crappy multiplayer mode. The plot was incredible, so complex, but it made so much sense. Recommend it to all

Yeah, it's rare to to find purely sp experiences these days. How long did it take you? I want it pretty bad but I keep thinking I should play the first two..

Not entirely sure, would have to go look, I think it was around 12 hours. The first 2 aren't needed for story purposes in Infinite but I do recommend playing them, both are great games. You can pick up both of them plus they're DLC in something I think is called Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition for around $30. But man Infinite is mind blowing once you put the pieces together. My favorite game of all time now.

Yeah, the biggest appeal to me about BI is that it's an epic 10-12 hour single-player campaign with no mess added on. That's the type of game I have time for. I'll probably skip the first two. Infinite is now the best reviewed game in 2013, having passed up Ridiculous Fishing on Metacritic.

See, the problem I had with Bioshock: Infinite wasn't the story at all. The setting was fantastic, the art perfectly done, the voice-acting spot on, and the narrative was compelling. Usually, the plot holes that arise from stories about multiverses and time travel ruin the story for me, but in this case they were easy to overlook and the characters were too vibrant for me to care. The Lutece twins? Awesome.

The actual gameplay, though? It was more a means to tell the story than to really entertain. The guns were nothing new. The machine guns and shotguns were like any other shotgun and machine gun. Booker DeWitt moved like molasses (though that might be a side-effect from playing games like Borderlands and Halo where the main characters are super-humans, but still...). Upgrading the guns didn't really do much good. And you really only need to pick three or four vigors and disregard all the rest.

Now I'm not saying any of this was bad. But aside from the melee weapon you get at the beginning, some of the cooler vigors, and the sky-rail travel, everything else was mediocre. I would actually be upset when I walked into a room that had a cover tear because I knew I'd have to slog through a room full of enemies. In the original Bioshock, I loved freezing Splicers only to shatter them afterwards with my wrench. And wasn't there a crossbow with different arrows? Incendiary arrows? Shocking arrows? Where did that creativity go?

I still loved the game. I played through it in three sittings, and I usually get sick of singe-player campaigns incredibly quickly. But I'm sick of people saying it's perfect. It leaned a little too much on the story for my liking, though.

I still haven't played it, but this is essentially the vibe I'm getting from it. I liked the setting in the first game, but didn't find the gameplay to be as fun as it could have. The battles were kinda Quake 3 Arena-ish with a little bit more freedom.

In terms of pure single player enjoyment, I'm not sure anything will beat Max Payne 3 for a while. No nonsense, full of that awesome action Max is known for, awesome graphics, detailed and varied scenery, I cared about the characters and the campaign was pretty long. It's gonna be tough to beat that winning combo.

Definitely another one I forgot to pick up. It's been on sale for $10-$20 so many times already in retail stores!

I have recently gotten back into xbox gaming. iOS has introduced me to the concept of leaderboards and I kind of like seeing where I stand relative to others, for some games. It's fun to see if I've improved from bottom 50% to top 10% or so. I don't need any more granularity, because I'm not good enough to care about exact positions. Can you see that info anywhere on the Xbox, or is it up the the individual games to implement that? If I open op a leaderboard from a game, I can usually see my place on the leaderboard, and the scores of the people right above and below me, but not how many players there are and how my score compares.

Most games have an option to change the sorting between friends/worldwide/personal etc, sometimes with a button to jump straight to the top and back to your name. Depends on the game and whether or not it's the sort of game people really want leaderboards for.

Thanks MidianGTX! I figured it would depend on the game. I discovered the filters, but they don't tell how many people are on the leaderboards. It's not a problem, I was mostly curious because I like the feature in iOS. It seems Xbox is more focused on achievements.

For the most serious competitive games like Halo and Call of Duty, all the real stat-tracking is done through their websites and community portals, and it goes into some quite mind-boggling detail. Not many games have this though as it's expensive to maintain and you need a huge fanbase to make it worthwhile.

Lol, gf got me Black Ops II, Minecraft for XBOX, and rainchecks for Bioshock Infinite plus any other $60 game as a gift.

The requirement for the rainchecks is that I finish another game on the XBOX, lmao. She knows about my extensive backlog to say the least.

I've been playing Minecraft on Xbox with my kids lately. I'm finally starting to enjoy that game and it is definitely fun playing split screen.
