I'm gonna be that guy again and put in a negative vote for Castle Crashers. As Flash games go, it's... about as good as a lot of them, but once you've finished it (which takes all of 45 minutes) there's nothing to do but repeat the same thing over again. If that wasn't bad enough, repeating the same thing actually means spamming the same move, as one simple combo will see you right from the first level through to the final one.
It's definitely flawed (gameplay balance issues, repetition, short length), but I find that its charm and the insanity of the game's 4-player co-op experience make up for it.
L.A. Noire and Rayman Origins are both on sale for $19.99 (new) right now at GameStop. Both sound like pretty good deals. L.A. Noire looks like a lot of fun, but something I'd never touch again after spending 10-15 beating it's campaign. RO just sounds awesome. Plenty of content and local mp. I've been needing a platformer for the 360 too. Haven't played any of the other Rayman games though, so I'm not sure what it's all about. Getting one of them at least. Comments? Edit: Looks like I don't have a choice in this anymore, lol. Gf is getting me RO as a gift xP.
My impression of Rayman: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2131405&postcount=214 That's not to say it's a bad game though, far from it. Beautiful graphics too, we need some more classic 2D games remade in 1920x1080. Streets of Rage for a start.
I tried the demo of Rayman a while back and I wasn't super crazy for it. It probably would have seemed great if I wasn't the type that when there is some medal or something to go for in a level, I'll always try to go for it. OCD that way. And the problem is that early in the game there is one that is hanging over a pit and I kept falling and having to start the level over again, and then I just stopped trying/playing. I didn't even finish the demo. LOL.
I'm the same, but I find it totally manageable in Rayman. Merely completing a level would mean I never return to it and equals no replay value in games, which is probably the aspect I regard most highly. Rayman is never too tough and there's always room for exploration and experimentation.
Im looking for a great Action RPG for the 360. I have Skyrim, Mass Effects, Dragon Age 1 and 2, and Fable III (don't want 1 or 2). So other than those are than any decent ones? (Kingdoms of Amalur is on its way to my house) I was considering Final Fantasy XIII - 2 and Final Fantasy XIII but wold like to here peoples opinions on those before hand. ANy suggestions are welcome.
Just finished RAGE. The game clock only counted 11 hours, and that's with all the side quests and stuff, which I think I finished all of. Including all my deaths, the total game time would probably be bumped up to 12 or 13 hours, meh. But um, what the bloody hell was that ending? I don't think it could possibly have had a less spectacular ending for a game of its nature. I was waiting for explosions, an epic cutscene, anything..but no..an uninspiring 15 second clip and then the credits. Guess there's room for a second game.. Anyways, although the game got pretty repetitive, it was short enough so it wasn't boring. New enemies were introduced about every two hours to keep up the variety. It's a decent game. Quite a few weapons and gadgets to use. The RC car-bomb was really fun to use. I guess I'll stick in the third disc now and at least try the multiplayer out. Wondering if I should run through AC Revelations or Arkham City next. Probably going to go with AA since I'm already 2 hours in compared to the 30 minutes I've spent with ACR. Edit: The multiplayer actually isn't bad at all. You can do mini-missions (about 30 minutes each) with people online or split-screen. They're all insanely difficult though. Enemies literally take 5 direct shotgun shells to kill. Lots of fun if you have someone you know to play with though. Took two tries to beat one (45 minutes). I thought "Road Rage" would be combat racing, but it's more like arena combat, which is pretty cool too. You have to play a lot in order to level up to earn better vehicles and equips though. Anyways, multiplayer definitely surpasses my expectations, lol. Not something I'll play too much of though.
Just stopped by to say you should all be excited for SSX in a couple of weeks, and if you're not it's probably because your brain is malfunctioning, so you might wanna get a medical opinion on that.
I have SSX pre-ordered and I'm mostly pretty excited for it, but also really disappointed that they didn't include splitscreen multiplayer. I was looking forward to playing it with my kids, side-by-side, and that's a bust. Even the PS2 and Gamecube had that, so that's really lame that they couldn't do it for this game. At least it turns out that it does have live online play, which for a while wasn't clear. Actually I still don't think it's been made completely clear, but at this point I'm presuming it does for my own sake. LOL.
Holy hell, Mass Effect 3 looks good. Didn't bother checking out any gameplay videos or trailers until now. Getting that as soon as I have access to a GameStop after it comes out. Spring Break starts three days after it releases, so.. Anyone interested in Asura's Wrath? Bloody hell, literally. Armored Core V and Ninja Gaiden 3 both looks pretty sick as well. Not sure if I should be interested in anything else between now and April. Edit: Installing Skyrim along with a few other games onto my hard-drive atm. Hope this actually helps with load times and performance since Skyrim has way too many framerate problems along with the occasional crash.
Skyrim is only 3.8 GB? Lol, wtf?! Reach is 6.6 GB, and MW is 7.6 GB. Guess I'll stop there since these are the only three games I actually come to in between campaigns of new games.
Probably best to ignore Ninja Gaiden 3 completely, Hayashi has a particular skill for ruining the franchise and he's still on track judging by all the QTEs in the new game. Ninja Gaiden 2 is one of the greatest action-combat games ever though.
Guess there's just ME3 to look forward to then in the near future for me since I'm not exactly into games like SSX, lol. Asura's Wrath just got reviewed by IGN. Says there are six hours of gameplay total, and that's by doing everything there is in the game, and that there is no reason to replay it. Pass.
Really? Alright. My uncle (whose 35 around that) doesn't play games, but he absolutely loves the uncharted and ninja gaiden series.
Well to be honest... someone's gotta like it, maybe that's him. If he doesn't play much he might not get annoyed by things like QTEs popping up in games I lost faith after Itagaki left though. All of the original NG games are suprior to the Hayashi-produced Sigma versions.
I watched a bunch of videos on it. Dying pisses me off so I think Im gonna pass. Hell playing Kingdom Hearts and trying to beat Sephiroth pissed me off to no end. That is until I beat him....only once.
You thought Sephiroth was hard? LOL. The original KH is still my favorite RPG of all time, and fighting him is one of the main reasons. Got the game for my 10th birthday along with a brand new PS2. First console game I ever owned, hehe. Such an epic battle, but definitely not frustratingly hard like you just made it sound. Still remember how to beat that guy actually after 8 years or so. Cast wind, spam jump, spam attack, spam heal, and repeat until he starts casting Sin Harvest. When he starts doing that, keep on gliding towards the opposite side of the arena as soon as he teleports. He'll always end up a few steps away from you that. Keep some max elixirs just in case though. Keep wacking, casting wind, and jumping. Glide around like mad and keep spam healing when he goes invincible. When he starts casting his asteroid spell, glide continuously around the border of the screen. When he goes into berserk mode and starts spinning/teleporting/casting blue fireballs like mad, the fight is just about over. It's funny how the last part of the fight is the easiest. There's really no way he can kill you if you just keep spamming heal and have wind going at this point. If you can get through his quick blade attacks (first 1-2 bars) and his Sin Harvest casting period, you've got it down. You'll probably at least need the Oblivion Keyblade (from Hallow Bastion if I remember correctly) to have the stats to win though. I think Kurt Zisa and Phantom were much harder hidden bosses. I kind of wish I visited PS2 forums at the time. I bet there was a ton of discussion going on about the game. I might actually search for some in a bit just for the heck of it, lol. I loved the freaking summons. Riding Dumbo was hilarious. I hated Atlantica. Swimming was such a bitch. I swear I'm going to go back and play that game one day. It's pretty much why my favorite genre of games are RPGs. I 100% the game twice in the time period between 10-12 years old. I think it took about 75 hours the first time and 50 hours the second. It was incredibly ahead of its time when it came out. Such memorable characters and storyline. Second game took like 3-4 years to come out, and it was a complete disappointment sadly. Didn't bother playing any of the handheld KH games. I'll probably get the one for the 3DS once it's out though. I think I cried during that last cutscene where they played "Simple and Clean," lmao. I was 10, meh. /nostalgia
