Thank you. I also just noticed the song total should be over 2000 by the time RB3 comes out. That's some good choosin'.

    He'lll do it.

First point is very true... well, kinda. Free roam isn't the entirety of the multiplayer component. There's also these multiplayer shoot-outs like Free for All and Gold Rush, but it's straight up crap to be honest. Auto-aiming is ridiculous and you'll take an eternity to unlock that damn buffalo.

Second point, however, is not. Sure, you can name better games, but how many of them are good Western games? Psh, how many are Westerns at all? There's plenty of realistic war games, plenty of fantasy shooters, plenty of racing games, but no gun-slinging action besides RDR.

He didn't say Westerns though. If we're giving games points simply for being unique there are a few hundred indie games that come ahead of RDR.

    1. Portal. Oh, COME ON!
GLaDOs is one of the best, funniest characters in video games. Put it all together with a physics-FPS-puzzler, and tie it into Half-Life, Portal starts a new genre.
    2. Uncharted 2.
This game was an interactive summer blockbuster. The graphics were amazing, the gameplay was amazing, the actors were amazing, and the multiplayer was too. (even though the servers are down right now )
    3. LittleBigPlanet
You play Sackboy, (or Sackgirl), a fully customizable character, and go through 50 levels, and then obtain the tools to make your own. The community recently passed the mark of 2 million levels.
    4. Trials HD
Best Arcade game of 2009? More like best ever. Excitebike + physics + sandbox level maker = fun.
    5. Forza Motorsport 3
The customization on this game is insane. You customize everything about your car, the engine, brakes, rims, everything that's in a car you can customize. Oh, and did I mention it's the best sim racer to date?
    6. Super Street Fighter IV (four)
The King of all Fighters (oh, the irony) returned with IV, which was phenominal, then added "Super" at the beginning. So what's new? 10 new characters, making 35, each character now has 2 Ultra combos, the return of bonus stages (!), new online play, including an arcade-y, winner stays on mode, a revamped story with cutscenes and whatnot, and a lot more.
    7. Alan Wake
One of the scariest games I've played in a while. Think Twin Peaks + Lost + Stephen King novel and you'll have a good idea of what it's about. Plus, the gameplay is awesome. Oh, and the graphics? Amazing.
    8. Modern Warfare 2
If you need an explanation as to 'why', go play the game. Best FPS ever. That's all I'm saying.
    9. Batman: Arkham Asylum
Now this is what a comic book hero game should be like. The game has a gritty atmosphere, like The Dark Knight, and it takes place in the famous asylum for the trickiest villains of Gotham City. Best of all, you really FEEL like Batman, the awesome, kick-butt ninja that he is.
    10. Rock Band 2
If you don't know what RB/GH is.... WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!
The longest list of DLC in a game, you'll never run out of songs to play in Rock Band 2.
Oh, and it's better than Guitar Hero.

    DONE

I'm just saying that in a sea of FPS's, it's a refreshing change of pace. It's a unique concept with good execution. That can't really be said for the majority of indie games. On XBLA at least.

What's to reason with when all you've got to argue with is an opinion?

Hmmm, which ones? The only one I know of saying is on MW2,

"If you need a reason "why" just go play it! Best shooter ever!"

    That's a reason.

Opinion is the only thing there. And RB/GH- endless dlc. Yah, but you're basically playing the same game with different background music.

That's slightly ignorant considering the music IS the game content. Obviously if you're not into music then you'll find nothing to enjoy.

Plenty of real musicians enjoy RB/GH, the elitism argument doesn't work.

Al-righty. Those are some good games
    1. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to experience The Orange Box, so I really cannot comment on this game.
    2. Uncharted 2 is undoubtedly a fantastic game. You're right, it probably does beat RDR. +1 to you
    3. Again, I'm not well enough informed to comment on this
    4. How can you claim this is better than RDR? No doubt, it's a well executed game that's a lot of fun to play. But for sheer amount of content, RDR kills this. In RDR, you can choose to be good or bad, you can find hookers, you can shoot people, you can hunt, I mean, what can't you do? In Trials HD, all you do is perform stunts. Sure, it's done well, but it's not nearly as entertaining as RDR.
    5. Sure. It's the best racing game in history. But again, RDR's content outweighs it by a ton
    6. Same argument as the last 2. Sure, fighting is fun, but that's all your doing
    7. NOT TRIED IT!!! Damn, I'm missing out on a lot :(
    8. This is where your argument totally fell apart man. To claim that MW2 is better than BFBC2 might be one of the most ridiculous things I have heard. It gets really dull after a while, even multiplayer. I'm surprised you would say that
    9. This is a great game. Right alongside RDR for me
    10. You....play....songs. It gets old, boring, and dull, and the only way to keep it fresh is to keep buying DLC.
Uncharted 2 is better than RDR, and a lot of these games do their job well-but there is no game with as much to do as RDR.

It's not ignorant. You can play a thousand games of Halo 3, but even with different competitors, weapons, maps, or different rules, they start to seem the same.

Also, using a genre? How about open world games?

Yeah, and you can also get bored with life itself then jump off a cliff. Nothing lasts forever but Rock Band has a considerably longer lifeline than most other games.
