Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning looks amazing. Always up for another quality Western RPG. Anyone tried it yet? Thinking about getting it instead of UMvC3/Arkham City this weekend. Really good reviews so far too.
Well, it's not Skyrim. ...and I know it's somewhat unfair to judge games based on others, but at the same time it's sensible. Going from Skyrim to this is a step down, and also a step into buggier territory. Arkham City on the other hand, is yet to have its crown stolen away. Depends if you like action games though.
Well, yes, but Skyrim isn't great because of the combat. It's due to just about everything else about it. KoA is supposed to be all about the combat. I'll probably get Arkham City first. The only thing that bothers me is that I don't know if I'd ever touch Arkham City again after beating the campaign once in 10 hours or so..is there any replay value? Because of this, every game I've bought so far for the 360 has online multiplayer unless it was a RPG.
I just wish people would stop calling the campaign mode 10 hours Pace yourself sensibly and intersperse main quests with side missions included and there's no way you could get it done in that time. There is a New Game+ mode though, can't remember exactly what changes, but it's a little harder. Fans of the challenge modes will say that's where the replay value is, but I was never too fond of them... didn't buy the DLC levels/characters either. Still one of the best games of 2011 though.
Fair enough, I'll probably get it this weekend. It's currently on sale for $40 new, so I'll pass on another RPG (KoA:R) for now. Haven't played an actual action/adventure game yet on the 360. Just been playing FPS and RPG so far since I've only tried out 30 minutes of AC Revelations. Might pick up UMvC3 since I don't have any fighters either at the same time unless I feel like getting RE Revelations for the 3DS instead. They're both $40 as well.
Batman arkham city has HEAPS of replayablity, but half as much as skyrim. You have what, 10 side missions that takes a while to finish. Then there's riddler trophies, cat woman episodes, riddler challenges/riddler campaign challenges etc. btw, the riddled challenges are for robin, cat woman and batman, which have like 110 stars to finish. Rage is the best game I have ever played, but it was just too short.
How so? It's so incredibly repetitive in terms of both driving and shooting aspects. The storyline rivals something you'd see in a Call of Duty game. I still think it looks freaking amazing though. It's a lot of fun to play as an action game you just blast through, but definitely not something to ever revisit once finished. I'm probably an hour or so from the end. Arkham City sounds awesome though from what you said.
Arkham City is awesome, one of my runner-ups for 2011 game of the year. I must admit I played it on PS3 though, but its of course the same game. I think it has great replayability with the challenge maps, but if you don't like those then there are a few sides missions to be done if you didn't do them during the main campaign. Overall I guess it depends on if you like the combat and stealth stuff when it comes to replayability, because that's what the challenge maps are composed of. I think the challenge maps are a great addition to the game.
Had to get a new gamertag, because I couldn't remember what email I used for my old one...lost my gamerscore :/ Oh well, wasn't that high anyways. New tag if anybody wants to add me, just tell me who you are from here: S1DCrAzY
Haha, alright sweet. Was able to grab a copy today before heading back to college. Should be fun. Will report back when I spent some time with it.
Arkham City is freaking sick. Batman beats out Ezio in badassery any day. Damn, this is going to be a fun game. I think I have enough 360 games to last me to Spring Break now. Bought a new game every week for the past 8 weeks.
Just try to hold back from rushing the story missions. If you finish too soon you'll end up with a ton of less interesting side stuff to do and sweeping up those riddler trophies could start to get boring. Take time out from the story after each mission and enjoy hanging out in the city before moving on
Yeah, definitely. I'm loving the atmosphere, and there are always some thugs to beat up no matter where I am. It's awesome how it feels like any place in the game is accessible to Batman and his gadgets. Climbing up the highest building and then gliding around is crazy.
It's hard to explain. I don't know why, but it's just fun. To me, repetitive is cod. Rage would have got game of the year for me, but I think skyrim beats it only because it has a lot of replayablity. Now, I'm just waiting for dlc.
Lol, I'd definitely agree with what you said about CoD. In terms of FPS, I think I would agree that it's the best one I've played. Overall though, I don't think so.
Can't believe I was skeptical about getting Arkham City thinking I'd beat the game in 10 hours. There's so much content here. About 1-2 hours in now, and wow, I'm impressed. I'll probably try and finish RAGE before getting too far into AC though. Don't really like mixing a bunch of campaigns. Edit: Thinking this is the probably the best game on the 360 that I've played now. Skyrim might top it by just a bit, but wow, Batman is amazing. Favorite superhero for sure. The atmosphere in the game is perfect.
Gotta love Arkham City. If a game/film based on a superhero makes you more interested in the character and the universe, you know the creators did something very right. I don't have a 360 (just lurking this thread because the PS3 one is pretty empty ), but you should really look into Castle Crashers and Limbo on XBLA if you haven't already, they're by far the best games I've downloaded on PSN.
OMG YES he has to get castle crashers!!! I woud go back and play that right now but it's 10:51 and I have school tomorrow...
Haven't bought anything but retail games so far, but I'll definitely check out Castle Crashers when I get the chance!
