Had my 360 for almost 4 weeks now. It's been a ton of fun, but sadly, break is almost over. Won't be taking it to college with me. Beat the campaigns for MW3, Reach, and Skyrim so far. Going to finish up Fable III before break is over. Also spent quite a bit of time on local/online multiplayer for Reach and MW3. Lol, the only thing my hall mates play are MW3 and Reach (8-player mode over console link), so I guess I'll be stuck playing those with them for the next few months until summer. Will actually be pretty decent now unlike the first semester xP. I wish my iOS buying habits were similar to my buying habits for other consoles, aka actually finishing games before buying too many and not buying 15 games, literally, for every one game finished. On the bright side, my roommate has a 360, and rents the latest games through GameFly, and plays through them. Hopefully, I'll be able to take advantage of that this semester, lol. Glad to be back in the console gaming world in any case. Like I said earlier, it'd been almost 5 years of just handhelds for me. Edit: Hm, my birthday is the day before I go back to school. Maybe I could ask for a personal TV, and with luck, be able to convince my parents to let me take my 360 back to college with me! Let's see how that goes..got a week.
I run a very discreet smuggling ring as a side project. We mainly do drugs and firearms but I'm sure we could get your 360 into a dorm room if the price is right.
Which model is it? Is it a "slim" or the older style? The older ones had really noisy DVD drives. You can avoid that problem mostly by installing your games to the HDD if you have one (and have space).
The older style, but "Jasper" 360s were quieter, except for the DVD drive. In fact they were nearly identically quiet to the Slim 360 when the optical drive is not spinning. So it depends even on the model of older style 360, and how you use it.
Decided to get Gears of War 3 out of the games I listed. The 5 games I have now should last me until I make my next trip to GameStop in a month. Will be bringing my 360 back to college with me after all along with a new TV :]. Good stuff.
Just started mass effect 2 for my 7th play through of the game, ready for me3 in march, also play bf3 on xbl most days
My XBOX is noisy the second I turn it on but the PS3 is actually louder after about 40 minutes of use. Doesn't matter what I'm doing with it after roughly 40 minutes the PS3 fans go into overdrive.
I continue my quest for fighting games on the xbox. Got tired of MvC and exchanged it for SF4. I also got MKvDC, DOA4 and Tekken 6. I also have VF5 coming my way. When I was a kid I was into SFII and SNK games. Now 3D fighting games seem more entertaining and complex.
My girlfriend says these will keep my away from the ladies: (well, not the body care products) In any case, it's going to be a fun semester. Missed the 75 MB/sec internet here like crazy too. Live is going to be amazing with the internet here.
Any other Metal Gear fans in here? I'm really enjoying the HD Collection so far. I beat MGS2 and I'm on to MGS3 now. The third person camera from Subsistence really makes it a different game. Also looking forward to co-oping Peace Walker with a friend of mine. Don't have a PSP so I've never played that one.
Got Mortal Kombat? It's pretty simple compared to most games but damn, it's rewarding. Probably my favourite fighting game on 360/PS3.
Quarrel is coming to XBLA on January 25th for 400 points! This is a version of the iOS game, but this one will have online unlike the iOS version! I wish they'd add online to the iOS version, but I'll likely buy the XBLA version because it does have that, so I guess they win. Still would like online in the iOS version. Hopefully they add it at some point. Anyway, it's a clever and fun game that mixes a word scramble with the board game Risk. Sort of hard to explain, but it's fun. Just needed online, and here it will. I hope the community for it is good. Maybe the 400 point price will ensure that. I hope so.
Not yet. Recent games are more expensive so I'll get it later on. (I have doubts between SC4, KOF13 and MK which are the next ones on my list) But as much as I loved 2D fighting games as a kid now I seem to enjoy 3D ones more. The one I've enjoyed the most so far is DOA4. Winning an enemy after trying dozens of times really makes me jump in joy. The difficulty level really makes it interesting. Also, countering is difficult, so each time I manage to counter I have a big smile on my face. Finally, the endings are excellent, so it really motivates me to finish the game with each character. On the bad side of fighting games: MvC was enjoyable at the beginning but I didn't like it in the end. It was a mess and the excess of lightnings and colours hurt my eyes. SF4 is great...but after all, it's very similar to SFII from 20 years ago. And Azazel, the final boss from Tekken 6 must be the cheapest boss ever. I'm looking forward to Virtua fighter 5 (I've ordered it, It must arrive soon).
I will second the "Get MK9" motion. I have it on the PS3, and it's my favourite fighter by a longshot. I have always been particular to the Mortal Kombat games honestly, since I was a kid playing MK on the arcades, and MK2 and MK3 on the SNES. I played most of the 3D ones, and while Armageddon got the 3D aspect totally correct, it still doesn't hold a candle to the brilliance of MK9 (the new one). It's amazing. Easy to grasp, extremely difficult to master. The difficulty curve is very steep, but like Midian said, it's extremely rewarding. And you think Azazel is cheap? He can't touch Shao Kahn with a 10-Foot pole on even Hard mode, let alone Very Hard. I've only been able to beat him with with characters that can teleport. Seems to be the only thing that works against him for me. His attacks are just... just wayyyy to cheap.
LOL thanks for the tip. I'll get it in a few months when the price goes down. I wasn't into MK as a kid. I was into SF, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, King of Fighters. But MKvDCU was fun for a while so I guess I'll get MK9 sooner or later. Another one that's expensive now but I'll get later is KOFXIII.
I have a XBOX 360 also. I like it for playing games as Call of Duty - especialy the Modern Warfare Parts. Only not so good that they doesn't have Co-Op for the Campagne any more. But the Two-Person-Multiplayer Maps are also very much fun! So for shooters I like my XBox and for all other games I have a new iPAd 2 No need for playing with my computer any longer (who has no good graphics). Ben
