Does anyone have a spare Xbox 360 S 250 GB, every FPS available, and a pony, I could have? Just wonderin'.
Totally dude. Where do I ship it? Here's my social security and my credit card too, just in case. Want my driver's license too?
DiRT 3 is absolutely amazing. Most beautiful racer I've ever played, hands down, it's like the Gears/Killzone of racers in the graphics department and still with a super smooth framerate. Gameplay is excellent as well, I had a slight problem with the car feeling too twitchy at first but I switched to cockpit view and eased up on the throttle and bit and now I'm taking corners looking through the side window. The menu is freakin' brilliant too. A lot of reviews listed the removal of the paddock as a negative, but I hated that crappy festival vibe. The new menus look super smart and professional.
How would you compare it to say.. Forza 3? Is it a simulation racer or more arcadey like the NFS series? Gymkhana is something I REALLY want to try out but I'm not sure how the rest of the game plays
I'll wait for a price drop or something... still need to get LA Noire and inFamous 2, and Red Dead Redemption is shipping to me atm.
This is more of a simulation and in my opinion the best racer on any platform at the minute by a long way
It's more of a sim than NFS, but less than Forza. The handling feels really authentic but the game is super accessible with a ton of assists available and the option to change them before every race along with the AI difficulty which goes from 1-6... I think, might be higher. Plus you get flashbacks if you make a mistake, the only penalty being less XP at the end of the race which is really no big deal. It's the best rally game I've ever played because it feels professional but it's also accessible enough that I'm actually good at it. I was terrible with games like V-Rally in the past. Here's a video of my friend playing a Finland track: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Dirt 3 sounds fun - I like that it can be accessible, because I surely need that! - and I definitely want to pick it up, but I'm adverse to paying $60 for any game. There are some gift card deals out there, but I want to pay less out of pocket, and lately even top tier games are dropping like a rock in a matter of a week or two. Portal 2, for example. So I'm going to wait a few weeks and see what happens.
If you loved Sega Rally back in the day (Arcade/Saturn/PS2) then definitely, it's more or less the exact same thing and you'll be in heaven re-living old memories. If you didn't play the original then nay, there's no real career mode and the whole thing is a relatively simple and shallow arcade racer. It's far better at nostalgia than being a modern rally game, especially considering the best rally game ever just hit the shelves
So I've been playing DiRT 3 and I can't agree more with Midian. The game is just phenomenal, graphics are one of the best I've seen, basically the Crysis of racing games. The look of the game is really neat with it's stylish menus and triangles that float around everywhere. Some of the drifting challenges can be slightly difficult but once you get the hang of it and crank up the sensitivity it gets a lot of fun. The best racer I've played to date.
It's the gymkhana events that really get me panicking, I always seem to scrape the platinum medal with less than one second left on the clock. I can't get platinum on the spin tutorial either, I don't see how I can do it any faster
