I wasn't as wowed as most by Red Dead Redemption (it's good, but pretty repetitive and as a result I've never finished it), so I'm probably going to wait for a fire sale on L.A. Noire, if ever. Well, I'll definitely try a demo if and when they put that out. Then decide. Portal 2 I absolutely love. I'm in chapter 8. It's a good length of game for me too as I don't play games very quickly. I actually found the humor getting a bit repetitive in chapter 7, but otherwise it's a superb game and for the most part very funny. I've got a friend lined up to play the co-op with, but he's going to play Portal 1 first and then I presume Portal 2 single-player. Hopefully he's faster at games then I am! I don't know what Brink is, though I've heard about it. I'll look into it.
I'm not terribly excited about Brink. Most of the trailers and advertising focus on multiplayer and it looks and sounds a lot like a somewhat updated Team Fortress 2 which I didn't care for either. The single player seems to have taken a distant back seat. DiRT 3 looks excellent though, I'm looking forward to that. I haven't seen anything on Red Faction either but the last few games have all been decent so I'll probably pick it up if it stays more or less on the same level.
I'd get Brotherhood. While Assassins Creed 2 was awesome, Brotherhood does have multiplayer to keep one around for a bit longer. Both really fun, but if you're short on cash, AC 2 is only like 20 bucks now.
Just beat Portal 2. The best game I have ever played. I have never been more satisfied or pleased with myself after completing a video game-it's just incredible. Tons of great games expected for this year-but Portal has a legitimate shot at GoTY. The perfect experience.
Finished the Portal 2 co-op yesterday with a friend. Not quite the story that the single player held, but the end was still amusing, and definitely provided for another sequel should Valve decide to go that route. Things definitely got more complicated having to manage four portals.
Well this sounds good. Ordered my copy from Amazon a few days back. Getting here on Monday. Hopefully my friend gets it soon, I want to do some co-op.
I agree with half of this sentiment. I did enjoy it from start to finish and the ending was fun, but now it's over. When I finished Fallout 3 I went straight back to the beginning and started again, Oblivion has sucked some 400 hours out of a few peoples lives and multiplayer games could almost last forever if only new versions weren't spat out annually. It's hard for even a very good 8-10 hour game to compete when there's little to no replay value involved. One of the core aspects of video games from their very inception a few decades ago is that they were endlessly replayable. Portal 2 was fantastic, but now I can't see myself touching it for another year at least.
Skype will be coming to Kinect, it would seem. I approve! However, I have mixed feelings about Microsoft acquiring Skype. I wish they'd just put a Skype app on the Xbox and called it a day. http://www.microsoft.com/Presspass/press/2011/may11/05-10CorpNewsPR.mspx
Was thinking about it but my XBL Gold just expired and I am too poor to renew it atm. LOL. Hows the camp?
if by camp you mean camping, there is none. the matches are always fast paced and you earn XP left and right. the parkour is also a blast too, there isn't a lot of it, but it's still awesome.
How is the single player? It looked to me like multiplayer was the main focus and SP is kinda watered down because of it.
it's a multiplayer game at it's core and the Singleplayer is just an offline mode with bots. You can still earn challenges, xp, and everything else you normally could earn in MP and the missions are the exact same in both modes so you get full campaigns (Security/Resistance) regardless of MP or SP
I was pretty much asking this: Camp meaning campaign. lol my bad! So it's single player based, not necessarily Campaign based, right? Edit: Just read above statement. Thanks for clarifying Slapshot!
IGN gave Brink a 6/10....there's nothing really unique looking about it, except some cool movement-which seems like a superficial addition to a repetitive and subpar game
Deep down I know this is why I haven't been even slightly hyped about it. I can't remember where I said it but somewhere I compared it to TF2. I didn't like that much either but I just didn't see Brink bringing anything new to the table.
I watched a video of Brink's gameplay, and I really didn't see what I was suppose to like about it. Looked completely generic, and with what seemed to be entirely indoor, and generic, environments. On top of that, the fact that it's (solely) multiplayer based is a big turnoff for me. I like a good single-player campaign.
Agreed with your assessment of Brink, but I'm lost when you compare it to TF2. I couldn't imagine more different games- TF2 with its cartoony style, and tons of different classes that actually differentiate from each other. Blows Brink out of the water, in my opinion
