Kotaku is a good site. I usually go to Amazon or Gamestop. And heres a GREAT sale right now: At Gamestop, you can get both Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare AND Modern Warfare 2 in a bundle for just $40!
I have to disagree. Skyrim, Uncharted 3, and Mass Effect 3 have the best chances, then LA Noire, Battlefield 3, inFamous 2, and finally Arkham City, maybe, if it's good. They could just as well screw it up.

Anyone pick up Dragon Age II? It looks pretty darn good, and people are saying that it's a good jumping on point even if I never played the first one.
Rage has got pretty slim chances compared to the competition. Don't get your hopes up. I would put it way down the list.
I got it and I would definitely recommend buying the first game first. The story doesn't really follow though because you play as a completely new character in a different island but there are a few references to the character in the first game. The reason I say to play the first game is simply because it's such an amazing game, the story really sucks you in and the setting of the game is great. The second one doesn't seem to be as great as the first so far but it's still worth getting. Oh and you should play on PC in order to get the full experience, it controls much better. DA2 console counterpart has dumbed downed combat, kind of like an action RPG.
Rage probably comes after BF3 in the good chances list, IGN seems quite interested in it since E3 and it might get their GOTY. But that was before Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, and Battlefield 3 all got announced Honestly, it's going to be a good game, better than Arkham Asylum I hope, but it's just not GOTY material. Also, what gameplay have we seen as of now? Around none to a snippet or two.
Unfortunately I have a Mac. PC play isn't really an option for me since I don't feel like buying W7 and running it through Boot Camp. I heard the console version of Origins was dumbed down from the PC version. Should I still consider getting it for Xbox?
Personal opinion but... Dragon Age sucked hard. Long, drawn-out and massively dull quests and the whole game just looked completely horrid.
I'm thinking of trading $50 and a 4 gen 8g ipod nano for the first xbox 360. Good deal? Or would i be better off getting a 4g slim for $200?
Depends, do you want a console with a failure rate of over 55% or a console with around 20% failure rate. Your choice there.
I thought the biggest problem with it was overheating? So couldn't i just refrain from using it too long?
Theoretically, that is the problem, but with the original XBox 360 normal wear and tear would, for stupid reasons, fry the inside of the console through breaking solder connections, critically overheating parts (even when normal usage is only a couple hours a day), and a variety of other problems. All those problems were remedied with the Slim. Yes, you'll pay more, but the console is much quieter and a bit speedier (not necessarily spec-wise, but you can tell the difference), and it has safeguards from overheating the internals.
That would be my vote. But since it's refurbished, make sure that there's a warranty attached, just in case.
