It could do a Midnight Club and be good in it's own right yet criminally underrated by the media and gaming public alike. I wouldn't mind that either.
I'll side with her on one thing. It is amazingly difficult to get your card details removed from the Xbox website. It more or less informs you it's possible, makes you traverse 5-6 pages looking for instructions on how to do it, finally gives you the option, then tells you you're not allowed to remove or edit the details. Even after all that it's not exactly quick to locate the customer service number and when you do eventually get through, the asshole on the other end does all he can to try and convince you to keep spending money on a gold membership every month.
Rockstar games are on some kind of godly roll right now. The latest 5 games they have released have been stellar, so that's why my hopes for Noire are so high. The fact that's apparently also a highly innovative game doesn't hurt either.
This game is going to be hyped beyond belief and I imagine will live up to expectation. Rockstar in my opinion are the best developers/publishers going around. To have hit after hit and continually improve, its simply amazing. People have been saying that this game might fail because the people look too realistic, it's going to be so good! And from the $1000 fee from the 11 year old kid. He looks like he has issues and if he is that retarded to not figure out that buying MS Points costs money, he shouldn't be allowed near anything electronic. Also if the mother wondered why on her bill it had around $100 being spent every month without her knowledge... and let it go on for 12 months, she shouldn't be able to own a credit card.
I think I've given up on Rockstar, at least for this generation of consoles. Both GTA and RDR were disappointments to me, R* just lost what made the previous GTA games fun. I dont care about some stupid story or bowling with my cousin or keeping my girlfriend happy, I want to walk freely in the streets with an RPG and then get a wanted level and fly into the sky with my jetpack and shoot all of the cops below. I want to fly planes as high as I can go, and then jump out and see how low I can get before pulling my chute. I want to dress up like an idiot, or maybe eat a lot of Cluckin Bell and get fat. I miss all of that stuff and the inherent humor that the games used to have, in the dialogue and on the radio. I think they just tried to do things in a serious way and sure, critics and bandwagoners "loved" it, but I'm sure nobody truly loves GTA 4 like GTA 3 or Vice City. And I really enjoyed Red Dead Revolver, and they turned it into a damn western GTA clone. I want the real RDR back. Still play it sometimes on my PS2.
I was a big detractor (initially) of GTA IV and Redemption for some of the reasons you mentioned. After spending more times with the games, I realized how brilliant they are. Rockstar is definitely at the front of the pack this gen when it comes to releasing utterly compelling triple A experiences. They have been improving their games since IV came out. Lost and Damned was a noticeably improvement, and Ballad of Gay Tony brought back the elements that people thought were missing in IV. RDR is just an epic western with amazing characters and the best ending in gaming, and Chinatown Wars is one of the finest portable games ever created. Noire definitely has a lot to live up to.
As fun as parts of Red Dead Redemption are, Revolver was much, much more fun and worked better as a western shooter than Redemption did. The multiplayer in Revolver is some of the most fun I've had in any shooter in a long time. Even against CPU bots, it's original and a ton of fun. If they made anything like that for Xbox Live, I'd pick it up without a second thought.
I like Red Dead Redemption, but the game really is just GTA in the wild west and it gets pretty repetitive. There's nothing terribly innovative about it. It is fun, but I still haven't finished it because I get tired of it after a while and move onto other things. Mind you, I play all games slowly and rarely finish any of them, so this isn't quite as bad as it might seem. Portal is a fantastic game... but I have to say, the short length of it was just about right for what it is. I'm not sure that a full length is going to do it much good. Nor is a $60 price tag. I'm definitely going to get it, but not until it drops to $30 or, preferably, $20.
I heard Portal 2's campaign is about twice as long as the original and the co op is also about twice as long, so it seems it's 4 times longer than the original game. Also, any XBLA recommendations? I've been thinking of getting the new PAC Man. I've already got Shadow Complex, Trials, Castle Crashers, MNC and Geo wars and some others.
It does look pretty awesome. My only worry is that because they are blending so many gameplay elements, and trying to create this realistic experience, that if just a couple of those elements don't work, the whole experience will become tedious. Still, I've high hopes for it. The detail in the facial expressions especially is fantastic.
I've found that highly regarded games usually have a good mix of the following: -Good Graphics -Good Stories -Good Action -Good Puzzles -Good Characters This looks like it has all the above!
Yeah, but it's also got some things that could get tedious. Specifically, surveillance of potential suspects, questionings, and interrogations. In other words, reverse escort missions and lots of multi-choice dialogue. I mean, if questionings and interrogations are the only time you have to choose dialogue options, it'd might work out okay.
YES. That is what I love the most about it. I love the MP, and I loved playing as the guy with two pistols... what was his name... Jack Swift! Portal is a great game. I think it will do fine as a longer game, especially with co-op. The new Pac Man (I'm assuming you mean Championship Edition DX) would be a great buy. I love the trial, and am waiting for that sale coming up Feb 28th. Oh that reminds me, hold off on that, because it will be on sale for 400 points. That game is so fun to play with my arcade stick. I would go with Super Meat Boy, Marvel vs Capcom 2 if you like fighting games, Costume Quest, or Stacking, which just came out on XBLA. Alien Hominid, Bionic Commando Rearmed 1 or 2, N+, Toy Soldiers, or a Serious Sam game would also be good. Damn I need more points for all of those. Amazing game. Also, **** the kid. And the Knicks. Yep, I was gonna mention SR 2. It is a good game, though not as great as the GTA of the past. I'm a little worried about this quote though: "Weve already started work on Saints Row 3, and we have a new direction we want to go in with that which we of course cant talk about." I hope they keep the whole "gangsta" angle.
They also said Saints Row 2 would be "dark". Then it featured flaming quadbike and turd spraying activities. I hope it stays the same, someone needs to do the crazy "anything is possible" open world thing rather than trying for realism the whole time.
Nope. I think I've tried for a total of 4 hours already. I got to the very last part where there are spikes on the ground and on the ceiling, and you just have to do two little running jumps, and I blew it. I ran straight into the spike. Its so stressful.
Thanks for the heads up on the sale, was planning to buy it real soon. I was also thinking about Toy Soldiers but I was afraid I'd get bored with it fast, maybe I'll try the demo. Oh and that Stacking games looks really good, got great reviews too.
