    Doing nothing of importance.

Don't question getting an Xbox at all. It's much better for actual gaming than a Wii is. They're two completely different systems, one built for more or less party or casual gaming, while the other for all sorts of games (mostly shooters though). It's not a waste of your money at all to get one, especially with games like Black Ops and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood coming out, and games like Dead Rising 2 and Halo Reach already out. In fact, I have a feeling that those 4 games alone would justify the purchase of a 360 for you.

Plus, for a good comparison of 360 vs. Wii, try Call of Duty 4 and World at War on both consoles... 360 comes out on top hands down both times, especially with World at War, seeing as the Wii version has reduced gore, no zombies, and just isn't as fun to play overall.

Put the 360 and the Wii in the same area, then switch the TV out cables when you want to switch systems. That's what I have to do when I switch between PS2/360/Wii.

And he won't be calling you a brat once you get a 360, trust me. I barely use my Wii for more than playing Phoenix Wright, Gamecube games, and a few Wii games (like Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles, Super Paper Mario, etc.). You'll be using the 360 a lot more, especially if you plan to get Live.

Not at all. You're still talking about Kinect, right? You didn't actually use the word "Kinect" so it's hard to tell. Either way, it's been getting desperately moderate reviews, and the best thing I've heard anyone say about it was from a video, where a young boy said it's awesome and the games are almost as good as the ones he has on his Wii.

It's new technology, there's massive over-hyping going on, people are so wowed by the fact there's no buttons that they'll refuse to acknowledge the faults until they've owned it for a year and then realize the games are all ridiculous. The very fact it's new makes people overlook the flaws they usually see in games, they'll accept something slightly less impressive just because they're searching for an excuse to buy the hardware.

Know what else was amazing at the time of release? Minidisc.

I am pretty cynical and if you've seen my games collection you'll understand why.

I'll agree with this. Who else remembers when the Wii was first coming out? It was the most amazing thing ever, just because it had motion sensing. Yes, it was awesome at the time, but in the long run, it just didn't pan out like we'd hoped. There are very few 3rd party games, and much fewer that are actually good. It almost turned into a novelty, save for the few actually really fun games out there.

Eyetoy was the exact same thing, too. When it first came out, it was incredible that you could use a camera to put yourself into the game. The problem is, all the games that you could play with it were pretty lame. The only one I ever had was AntiGrav, which was fun for a little bit before becoming tedious, as trying to do anything in that game was more difficult than it needed to be. Now it's just a webcam for my computer.

I have a feeling that Kinect is going to be the exact same thing. Everyone's going to be wowed by it for the first month or so, then when we realize that the 3rd party support is almost nonexistant, and what is there is mediocre to crappy, all interest will be lost.

I would agree with you, except I feel it is far too early to pass judgement. This is a system with oodles of potential. Clearly a few tweaks are needed (most notably reducing the amount of space you need to use it), but it is exciting to see the rapid progression of technology. Microsoft has never really had a major failure before, and I expect them to produce atleast a couple games that will make the Kinect worth having. That said, I will never get a Kinect-I'm more of a passive gamer, I don't want to have to swing my arms around like an ape just to get a headshot.

I'm pretty sure that either way it won't be a failure. Even if it's terrible it'll sell well because there are enough kids and casual gamers out there to make up for losing the slightly more hardcore crowd.

The thing about Kinect is that even if you don't buy it, you'll still continue to enjoy Xbox the way everyone has since '05. Kinect games and traditional games will be completely separate from each other, with exceptions being that some games might incorporate Kinect functionality. But I'm glad Microsoft isn't pushing that idea TOO much... Yet.

So if I may diverge the conversation into another topic, what's everyone have on their holiday wishlists? This can be any game, recent or not.

Not strictly in the right topic, but... Gran Turismo 5. Then a bunch of other less important games.

The only three I've thrown on there so far are Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Halo Reach, and New Vegas, although I think I'll toss Lost Odyssey on there since I liked that one quite a bit. Maybe Condemned 2 as well... I'm enjoying the first one a lot. There's some other older and used games I want, but I'll probably just pick those up used either online or in Gamestop with whatever money I get/have left over (if I don't get an iPhone 4).

And @pgboy, Gran Turismo is a racing sim series. I've never been into them much since I almost can't stand racing sims, but they're apparently the best of the genre.

Strangely enough I'm not that big on racing sims either, I just love cars and this is pretty much the only way I get to drive them.
