Don't really have an opinion on other the Kinect games, sorry. But you really should read some reviews.

    Doing nothing of importance.

I'm pretty late, but I'll just contribute anyway.

I actually used the towel trick working for a month or two before it busted... Everyone said it only worked for like a week, so I decided to give it a shot before sending it in right after Dead Rising 2 Case 0 came out, and it actually worked for a week or so. Then it died, I tried it again, and it ran for about a month or so, then conked out on me like a week after getting Dead Rising 2. I tried the towel trick several times after that, but to no avail. So I just gave up and sent it in on Tuesday.

The good news: It's almost at the Microsoft place, meaning it went through alright. The bad news: I almost definitely won't get my Xbox back before the 9th. The other good news: I think my friend or a couple are trying to either go to someone's house or the local pizza place. The other bad news: I'll only get to play it for a day or so, and if we hit up the pizza place, no online.

And yeah, the only reason I'd suggest getting Modern Warfare 2 now is if you have a bunch of friends who don't have Black Ops but want to play some Call of Duty. If they're all getting Black Ops anyway, just skip MW2.

And @sammysin, give online a shot when you get BO. Like I've said before, it's a lot more fun than you'd expect, and you'll end up killing a lot of time just trying to get to the next level to unlock more gear/perks.

Dead Rising 2, Black Ops, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Halo Reach, Fallout New Vegas, Lost Odyssey (if you're into RPG's), Dead Rising 2, Left 4 Dead 1, Dead Rising 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Rising 2, Borderlands. There are plenty more, a lot of which I'm probably forgetting since I'm just listing off the top of my head, but those are some that you need to get eventually, one in particular (which I'm sure you can figure out).

Yeah, it does. You can either play a violent Mario Party like game involving zombies, or play through the whole game on co-op, with the ability to drop in and out of games at any point.

some games for pgboy to get:

Lego Starwars/Batman. These are good family games with tons of re-playability, and support split-screen co-op. Good for learning xbox controls. They have got many non-gamers I know into gaming.

The Orange Box. Has Half Life 2 and Portal, + Team Fortress 2 (all FPS). Very good value for money.

All the others people have mentioned are good too. If You like FPSs, you should at least have a look at/rent Fallout 3/New Vegas, even though they are buggy. I love those games.

Just a last word on the towel trick. You should not use it if you are not under warranty. It is not a permanent solution, and can cause irreparable damage to your Xbox, as it overheats the entire console.

There is a safer version of the towel trick, which works on the same concept, except it heats specific components. The problem with it is that it requires some minor disassembly of the Xbox, and so voids the warranty; hence why the towel trick is only recommended if you're under warranty (also as far as i know it won't void the warranty, and once it does stop working you can just send it for repairs).
I posted a rough guide on how to do it a while back in this thread, if anyone cares to dig it out.

Well to be honest, and I don't mean this in an insulting way, it's obviously aimed at the younger market. I'd say if you're 13-14 years old then you'll find something to like about it, but there's not much for older gamers there. It's got a couple of issues with accuracy and lag, and overall just seems like too much work for what you get in return. The release games are obviously riding the gimmick, and if MS can't get some serious games out the door it's gonna stay that way. It really just depends how discerning you are as a gamer but at the moment it's in a worryingly similar situation to the Wii.

Maybe you should read a few reviews, but if you really think you'll enjoy it then ignore me. Not everyone has the same taste in games.

    Electric shamat:
I am planning on getting other ganes probably star wars and sonic riders and i have about 10ft of room where my xbox will be setup so no problems there! Also are you talking about the penny trick?
Zoet: ok well i am a family guy but not like lego batman family guy. I meant games like wii fit and wii sport family guy! But at that barley i am more of " i wanna blow someone up" gamer!

Well i have decided to do this

Black ops, Halo Reach, Kinect sports, and a 3 month live card.

The kinect package comes with kinect adventures so i will have two hardcore awesome games and two enjoyable games i can play with my family! I will also be able to talk to my friends with live so this is the perfect combination of gaming fir me and i am really i excited because i just figured out what i will start with!

Well, my life is complete, Iphone 4, iPad & Kinect. lol -

Seriously though, anyone having doubts about Kinect, blast them away, it's really, REALLY impressive. This is one of those tech releases where you are glad to be alive. :p

Oh, and pay no mind to the whole hard core thing. Everyone from hardcore to casuals are loving it.

Not talking about the penny trick. In the method I'm talking about, basically you open the Xbox, and move the fan over the CPU, then turn it on for about 15 - 20 minutes, to overheat the GPU. If that still fails then try the opposite, but for only 5 minutes.

It's the same basic idea as a towel trick (overheating the components, in an effort to 'reset them', and/or reflow the solder), except much safer as you're not turning your whole xbox into an oven, risking burning out some of the more sensitive components.
If, unfortunately, anyone ever has to do it, I can post a more detailed step by step. But if you are still under warranty, and don't want to risk using a hairdryer to get that warranty sticker off, then just send it for repairs.

On the penny trick, I've never been able to find an answer as to why you would want to do it. It seems silly to stick a bunch of pennies in there, when you could just spend a few extra bucks and get an x-clamp kit.

edit: What you're getting sounds pretty good, let us know what you think of the kinect, I don't think anyone here has got one yet.
I would recommend just getting a 12 month XBL subscription though, as the price of XBL is going up soon. Possibly at the end of the year, although to be honest I'm not sure.

If you are still thinking about getting Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, you kinda need to play AC2 first otherwise you won't completely understand the story. The second game is amazing anyways so it is worth it at the now reduced price.

It's amazing how quick people have forgotten it, but Red Dead Redemption is still a must have, as if GTA IV.

Wanting a sporting game? You can't go past NBA 2K11!

Halo Reach and Black Ops will also be really good choices, probably must have for online gaming.
