You're being too short-sighted. Yes, the dancing games suck ass. Yes, the weird fitness games suck ass. The sports games don't suck ass, but they're not great. I'm looking forward to games that have been announced, but aren't going to be available at release (namely Child of Eden) Also, on the input lag, if you're watching a video, for example, of someone playing a Kinect, the input lag is quite noticable. But from my experience of playing with one, when you are actually using it, you don't notice the input lag at all.
I found the tutorial pretty funny. Also the music playing struck me as something you'd find on the Wii. I agree with most of you, the lack of anything remotely decent at launch makes Kinect unappealing to me. And it's not like there's anything super awesome been announced for it either. Anyway, back to Black Ops zombie mode, has anyone seen what you unlock after finishing the campaign? (spoilers!) http://www.joystiq.com/2010/11/01/beat-black-ops-and-unlock-something-pretty-special/ Seriously, seriously awesome. I had no intention of getting Black Ops, but I might just have to now. But only if I can play as the Cuban edit: DAMN IT i just realised it's now Nov 1st and I never finished off spending 2400 MP or however much it was for game feast. Anyone else forget?
Activision just took down the video, guess it's kinda expected seeing they take down most of the leaks.
I seeeeee, Child of Eden huh? Let's see if I can't find that Destructoid hands-on. Oh here it is, I think I'll cut out a few choice phrases: I seem to have inadvertently quoted almost the whole article.
One of the only reasons I was getting Kinect was for Child of Eden. I'm glad I decided to cancel it after reading your stuff Johnny.
My problem with Kinect is that it only caters to people with a traditional gaming setup, namely, the Xbox is right next to the TV. My Xbox is on the other side of the room, nowhere close to my TV. I couldn't use Kinect if I wanted to, since it needs to be plugged in directly to the console. I know I'm the minority, and I can't expect every setup to be accounted for, but realizing that killed my interest in Kinect completely.
The port Kinect uses is unique to it, at least I'm pretty sure. Nonetheless, an extension cord would be really awkward and a wireless set up would undoubtably have some sort of lag.
So, anyone else picking up Black Ops on the 9th? I think I might, even if I don't get my Xbox back by then (just sent it out today). I just want it just in case one of my friends invites me over and has an Xbox, or if we go to the local pizza place which just so happens to have Xboxes.
While the Goldeneye remake looks surprisingly good. http://ie.wii.ign.com/articles/113/1131501p1.html
I'm really thinking about it pal, I've never bought or played a COD game apart from demoes. I'm not a MP gamer, but I'm really thinking of going with the masses this time and embracing the tide of hype. @Game Reaper, very true friend, very sturdy effort.
You never know, man. I never considered myself a multiplayer person until I got Call of Duty 4 for the Wii (this was before I got Live), and I was hooked. Give it a shot, I'm sure you won't regret it. And I've actually gotten every single Call of Duty game until now before I even had online multiplayer, and didn't regret any of those purchases one bit, even Modern Warfare 2. Sure, the story was awful, but the campaign was a ton of fun, and seeing how well Treyarch did with World at War and how they've had 2 years to improve, I have faith in Black Ops.
There is a unique cord for the Kinect that connects it to the XBox as well as providing power to the camera; however, there is the option to hook up via USB and plug the Kinect into a wall outlet for its power source as well. ...But that'll do no good if you don't want to hook up an extension cable.
NBA Elite 11 has been officially cancelled. Obvious move seeing how a) the demo sucked balls b) 2K11 was called the basketball game of this generation and c) Everyone went out and got 2K11 instead
