Props to Square Enix for taking mobile seriously lately and keeping games up to date. If you don't have this game get it as its one of the best games ever made! Final fantasy portal app updated too today.
Reviving this oldie. Anyone have issues with this one on iOS 12? I’m tempted but didn’t want to spend $50 on the Switch version.
I just texted a friend asking what iOS version he has running on his iPhone. He recently downloaded the game, but I don't know what iOS version he has. I also asked if the game runs ok in iOS12 in case he has that version. I'm not sure he'll reply soon, as it's almost 00:00 here and he's probably sleeping but I'll let you know when he answers.

Thanks guys, guess I’ll splurge. Was hestitant because no updates in two years and saw reviews complaining about glitched audio. Non-optimized for X/Xs Max isn’t a big deal, just wanted to play this classic! EDIT: Picked it up, plays great on Xs Max - no glitches so far, fun game!
The game is considered by many to be one of the best RPGs ever. Unless you completely take by the original’s dual screen mechanic, this port is in many ways the definitive version of the game — so much so, in fact, that Square Enix rereleased it on the Switch (for a higher price, even). Now, if two black bars are enough to dissuade you from playing a game as good as this one, then I wouldn’t recommend it in an iPhone X. I think most sensible people would want to play it anyway.

The last time it went on sale was 5 years ago so probably not. This game is worth it at full price anyways.
I remember playing it with black bars on the iPhone 5 and even going through a little deeper tech workaround to fix iOS8's saving issue (a pretty simple process, actually) because this is one of my favorite games. I'm actually considering reinstalling and getting back to it to complete some more missions. I don't know how bad/thick/distracting the black bars are on the iPhX models and I wouldn't assume SE will update the game soon, but if it works properly (black bars aside), I'd totally recommend it as it's easily one of the best action RPGs you'll ever come across. PS: The iOS (and Switch? I haven't checked it) version is awesome, but I would have loved having the original DS visuals instead of an HD revamp. This doesn't mean I didn't like the change, tho!
