You must have gotten either the Big Bang/Big Crunch pin from the shop.
You need to get the other pair for whichever you got to activate the psych.

I'm disappointed by the change to solo. They didn't do much justice to the original gameplay. The multitasking is gone. The partner was always present and doing something, now it's like an assist from one of those Capcom fighters. The puck and sync rate made an impact in battle, now one may as well not bother.

They should have made the partner always on screen+fighting the same enemies, and taken advantage of tilt to direct them. That would have made a faithful adaptation of the DS game.

Actually, I love the new mechanics they introduced. Although some of the old mechanics like "puck passing" and "sync effect" is lost, the game is still balanced by allowing you to customize your partner with items that carry an effect to Neku while in battle. Example: If you want your Neku to be in "mortal peril" state, you can equip the "mortal peril" effect to Neku's partner instead of Neku himself. That way, you gain an extra slot for Neku to equip other threads. Basically, the new Solo Remix makes partner more synchronized to your playable Neku.

Besides, the game feels more fluid and more suitable for touch screens especially the iPhone.

You can go read TWEWY wikia for more info but here's the gist of it.

Mingle PP and Shutdown PP is worth 9X of Battle PP.
You need a majority of the specific PP to evolve a pain.

Mingling with other DS that have wireless on = Civilian PP, I think it's 20.
Mingling with other DS with TWEWY = 50.
Mingling can also detect rare aliens that gives 100 or 200 MPP.

Most people just left their DS on Mingle mode for hours while they slept. The alien encounters were random.

    Stop being a goddamn baby.

Buying an iOS game means you can load it onto multiple devices. I do it all the time, because I have a few hundred so relatives and friends can enjoy them too.

On the DS you would need another DS and two carts. On iOS you just need another device.

    Sorry to offend you bro.

Anyway DS doesn't even need another DS with game to be able to mingle, just wireless activity from other DS

OK so bought the game and loving it so far though not much idea what I'm doing so far. Possibly very stupid question here, just got the shutdown pin, but cannot for the life of me find a close app/shutdown game/save button thing. Obviously I can just press the home button but a) I keep losing progress and b) I want the damn pp points!

So err where is the button to close the app!?

Erm just press the home button? Switching out of the app will automatically activate the PP bonus system.

Not sure why you kept losing save progress, this game uses an autosave system.

Yea there is no "Quit Game" button. You have to double tap your home button and force quit the application in order to gain Shutdown PP.
Change your date to 7 days later for maximum Shutdown PP.

Is it just me, or is the absence of manual save causing most of the delay between segments of the game? It seems to autosave after everything.

    THEN WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING?

? Because they took mingling in the DS and turn it into a watered down version of it. It is relatively much harder to gain mingle PP in the iOS version than in the DS version and mingle PP is extremely important in the game.

You may have lots of relatives to "mingle" with, but for people with only 1 iPhone in the whole family, it's much harder. For DS, players are able to go to any Nintendo store and there will be Civvies OR can encounter Aliens (which is 100PP compared to 20 for civvies.)

I'm not complaining, I'm just hoping SE will fix things.

I'd say it's almost impossible, unless you buy a second iPhone or iPad, or if you already have an iPhone and iPad, buy both the iPad and iPhone version of the game.
I really hope they change how mingle PP works soon.

Ok nothing to do with me but how would you having the DS version of TWEWY delivered to your house help Chizzie get mingle points on the iOS version!?

Oh and I'm not too far through the story yet but is Neku such a whiny little b***h all the way through? Not moaning as I like the story, his character is just grating on me a little, think I'm getting old and grizzly!

In answer to your neku question,
no, he starts changing by the end of the first week and by the end he thinks much more highly of other people. It's a dramatic change
