iPad The World Ends with You: Solo Remix (by SQUARE ENIX INC)

Contrary to what my membership on these forums and my posts might suggest, I'm not really a passionate gamer. My laptops are used for extensive writing, DTP and layout, music recording and mixing, and to a lesser extent power-surfing and media consumption (two activities that my iPhone has slowly begun to usurp). The primary reason I still game is that I now have so many wonderful gaming experiences in my pocket, always available, courtesy of iOS and a soci-technic visionary that had no interest in gaming

However, for the past week, I've been holed up in a friend's apartment, working on my thesis and taking care of the resident cat (though I've begun to suspect I'm less of a caretaker, and more of a combination of entertainment, sacrifice, and backup food source). In this apartment is also a very powerful computer, stocked to the brim with hardcore or otherwise interesting RPGs, and other desktop titles I've mostly only heard or read briefly about, and then dismissed on the grounds that their developers are too backwards to consider an iOS port. So, I figured I'd try this nerdcore thing on for size, and be a PC gamer for a few days. With titles like Dark Souls, Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur, Tribes: Ascend, the Smite beta, Firefall, Dungeon Defenders, the AirMech beta, Krater, Zeno Clash, Age of Empires Online and the Guns of Icarus Online alpha, I figured I'd finally get what this ancient, outdated PC gaming thingamabob was all about.

And here's the point of this necessarily long story: since this monday morning, I've played The World Ends With You more than all of the above-mentioned titles combined

Would anyone be able to show photos of the game on the iphone 4 compares to photos from the new ipad. I hear it looks fine on the ipad 2 but some reviews have discouraged people getting this on the new ipad since it is blurry... A quick photo upload of iphone 4 shots, ipad 2 shots, and the new ipad screen shorts would be great!

I fear for your thesis =/. Just grabbed the game a couple of hours ago.. it looks really pretty compared to original the DS version.

 

A tap on the phone icon in the upper right hand corner will do the trick, but it only becomes available after a certain amount of story progression (hint: not very long into the story at all ).

I'm not sure if you fear for my thesis because of the cat or TWEWY, but yer right either way, as both are currently having precisely that effect on my work efficiency

Just finished the story and I was wondering, how do we mingle with aliens? I don't think I will find any friend that plays this, and for some stuff we need mingle points that I don't get because the mingle system in this game seems to work quite different from the original. Any ideas?

 

From what I've seen on forums no one has figured out how to do it yet. Theories abound whether it's because bluetooth auto turns off for the iDevices or that there are no aliens this tine around.

Like most people I'm hoping squeenix just updates so that mingling will be GC integrated.

 

My bad. Some mods have edited them for me. Just thought that some of you ought to know before going for a purchase. To me, it's pretty much a big deal. Wonder if the mingle pp will get rectified.

And also, in this iOS version, pins with psychs that require "blow into the mic" had been changed to "shake device"

 

Wish I had more room, this app is too large.

Wonder if it'll be rectified. It's the biggest miss of the game. Any idea to of contacting SE particularly for this game?

 

Okay, I must ask.... Should i get the iPhone or iPad version?

I saw some comments talking about it being far more manageable on the iPhone, versus the much larger screen which requires a lot more.movement.

I've got fairly bad tendinitis in my hands and I don't know what I'd be better using.

Any thoughts from other old TA fuddy duddies?

I've tried it on both devices and while iPhone is slightly more comfortable, the smaller screen means your finger obscures a much bigger portion of the screen and given how the combat goes all over the place it can be a big annoyance. But if it's just comfort you're after then iPhone is the way to go.

 

Anyone know if Tin Pin Slammer has gamecenter support?

I think the ipad version is more comfortable on my eyes !=p

I seem to be having problems with the tapping to execute moves. How do you guys avoid summoning shiki 1/2 the time when you are just trying to tap to execute a move.

 

You can click on the equipped pin in your pin menu to make it a sub. That means in battle, you have to click on the sub button at the bottom left and the gesture to activate the pin.
