No wasn't laggy, just kept crashing after a minute or two of playing. My guess is that it just uses too much ram for the iTouch to handle.

But if you have an iPad why don't you take the iPad version?
I also have RetinaPad but the app in retinapad don't run at the same quality of a native iPad application.

Looks like a great game, I remember wanting it for DS, but surely you can't price an iOS game like that? If I asked for more than $2 for a game I'd be lynched. I worry it'll underperform due to the price and then Squenix will decide not to dev for iOS because of low sales...

It's not the first SE game to get a price tag like that on ios just wait for Final Fantasy: Dimensions will cost 30 dollars :D

So he doesn't have to buy it twice to also be able to run it on his phone?

I would guess if you really wanted to, you could modify the iTunesMetadata.plist, remove the flash requirement, and probably install the iPhone version on an iPad anyway. You just shouldn't have to.

I predict the graphics on iPad 2 won't be great without RetinaPad. They'd probably be pretty decent on the iPad 3. Usually the problem, if there is one, is the phone controls work poorly when scaled to tablet (too big).

hmmm... you're tempting me to try it too! But if it crashes as frequently as some super high end 3D game then I don't think clearing up 3gb to install it to test will be worth it.

I respectfully disagree. The TWEWY IP is already a middling minor success sales-wise, since it under-performed in the International/US markets when it was released for the DS. The only country where it did reasonably well was its native country of Japan.

This points out that it doesn't matter if a game is critically acclaimed or not; if it performs poorly, then the chance of a continuation of ANY kind (including porting) is that much lower.

Thus, in a way, the TWEWY IP is struggling to show that it deserves, nay, has EARNED THE RIGHT to be compared to JRPG masterpieces of yesteryear, such as Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana. And I do firmly believe the game not only holds its own, but it challenges many of the conventions and tropes those classics popularized. Thus, the high price, which essentially screams "I'm Worth Every Penny!"

And the game IS worth every penny. Then again, having that screamed at the market may not be the smartest thing for Squeenix to do. Considering that the vast majority of other iOS offerings from SE follow a similar pricing scheme, the pricing model is kinda expected, though.

Besides, who says that such a pricing is doomed to fail? Wait and see how many people download and play the game AND HAVE FUN WHILE PLAYING IT. Considering that a meal at Red Robin is more expensive than this game (I'm a college undergrad, I'd know), I'd say give it a try for yourself, and get a refund if you don't like it.

As to those people attempting to crack the game, it's your decisions. However, out of respect for the point of this thread, which is to discuss the game AS IS, I'd recommend taking up further discussion about those cracking efforts INTO ITS OWN THREAD, OR SOME OTHER LOCATION. This thread is on discussion about the game as it currently is. As such, I do not think that talking about cracks/hacks/jail breaking/etc... IN THIS PARTICULAR THREAD is pertinent to the discussion.

Again, if you want to do it, no one can stop you as of this moment. But, please, talk about it elsewhere. This thread is not meant for that kind of discussion. That's how I see it, and that's what I recommend about it. After all, such discussion also sends the wrong impression: that the game HAS to be cracked in order to "fully enjoy it", which is false. Nothing about the game needs to be altered from a coding perspective in order to have fun with the game. While those without supported devices are sad pandas, there isn't any official recourse beyond sending complaints to Square Enix saying that a potential customer was lost to the issue. If enough complaints are phrased in a similar manner, then I believe Square will take notice and address it, mainly due to the fact that those customers might welcome catering to the complaints and buy when their desires are met... if the complaints are numerous enough.

While I CAN logically see the potential legal snafu that was uncovered, until such a snafu happens, I have no comment on the issue because there isn't anything really there to comment ON... yet. If that changes in the future, then I'd understand. But right now, the only "safe" recourse is to just wait and see.

That's some more of my thoughts. I doubt I'll reach the $17.99 mark, but considering how much I'm paying attention to this, I may just end up dry at some point.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Album

So are aliens still around for Mingle PP or is this a lot more of a pain than it used to be?

theyve done just fine with Chaos Rings, FFT, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, and the Final Fantasy ports. all of them are premium priced and they've all been at the top of the charts for weeks at a time. so...I don't know what you're talking about, because you're totally wrong.

    Mingle PP

A bluetooth connection is required for Mingle.

That way, without a real friend playing TWEWY next to you, Mingle would not be made possible?

Is there a way to get past this?

    Am at W2D1 now.

You can play it on the iPhone you bought it for, surely? Or are you saying you bought the iPhone version mistakenly, thinking it would work on your iPad? If so, I'm sure you'll be able to get a refund. I can't see your problem, unless of course you acquired the iap in some other way...
