If you're planning to buy the iPhone version why run it on iPad so you could save $2 ? yes I get what he means it's just that I don't find it a deal breaker that's all

Wow. Wow. Wow. That is the most feminine hygine-y think I've EVER seen a company do, EVER. It is disgusting, stupid, disgusting, stupid, and a greedy, stupid asshatted move ever made by a company. I get that you can't run an iPad game on the iPhone, but not to be able to play an iPhone game on the iPad? That's seriously moronic... ARGH and I want to buy the game, but doing so will support one of the most anti-consumer tactics I've seen.

Can't decide whether to get this on iPhone or iPad. Wondering if it would be awkward to hold the ipad while trying to perform in combat. Thinking maybe playing on the iPhone would feel better. Just using your thumbs and not having to stretch them all the way across the larger screen on the iPad. Anyone able to comment on the feel of holding and playing on iPad?

One advantage with an iPad is that your finger wouldn't obscure as much of the gorgeous redrawn action as on a 3.5" screen.

During battles on the iPad do you end up using your thumbs or index fingers?

I haven't played the app yet but I can't imagine using a thumb instead of a finger. The original game called for use of a stylus, which is pretty analogous with the use of a finger.

I'm disappointed too.. And SE doesn't support icloud between the two version either, so there is no point in double dipping.. I'll go with the iphone ver :)

I just finished the second day, I'm playing on iPhone 4, and I definitely would suggest using your index finger for this. Much better control. Also, I'm loving the partner style. Not the same as the DS version, but not dumbed down too much. It's still difficult to pull off perfectly, and that's how it should be.

I wish I had read the forum chatter here before I DL'ed... I saw it on the store and bought immediately because I'm a huge SE fan and TWEWY is my favorite game of all time. Though I haven't played anything yet, I have to admit that I've never felt so disgusted by Square in my life... Never mind that the app is roughly $20. I was glad to pay it for an amazing game. Never mind that they refused to create a universal app to double up on sales and force us to choose. I understood and figured I'd have to live with one version. But the a$$holes blocked the iphone version from playing on an iPad and I can't help but feel sickened by the greed involved with that decision... I just don't even know how to put into words how despicable of a move that is. I'm not sure I want to continue supporting any company with such a blatant disrespect for their customers...

weird, i do recall there were pins on the ds one that activate when you tap on enemies.

    Wonder how that works.

I'm waiting for the review. I don't have an iPad, so no universal version doesn't bother me, but I'm a bit jittery at dropping so much cash into it. Never played the original, but I knew about its cult status, so I'm quite interested to see how it pans out. But for the price I expect at least 10+ hours of game time, so I'll keep myself patient for now.

You can check DS reviews, as the game's pretty much identical save for the partner system. Anywhere from 12-20 hours for the first runthrough, depending on skill and expediency; it has good replay value via a new game plusish mode as well.
