I've been reading this for a while now and the game looks great! I have one question though: I don't know how Apple goes about this but are you aiming for a 12+ age rating or 17+ age rating? I wanna know if my brother can play. Thanks.
I think it will be 17+ just because they said melee will be brutal so I'm expecting dead island brutal but we won't know till they tell us.
I've been thinking, hiw dies the world generation work? Is it random or one world thats recurs over and over.
I'm going to assume the rating system that apple uses will classify this as 17+. We won't have crazy amounts of blood but it will be brutal.
Dev update: final push Hey y'all, So we're in the final push. Here's an overview of whats to come and some of the refinements we're making. Overall we're deeping the survival experience by adding depth to the player, and depth to the world. 1- deeping survival: more emphasis on survival, ie we're adding a fatigue meter, solved with sleeping. 2- deeping GUI and HUD:we're adding 4 indicator icons in top left of screen for a)thirst, b)hunger, c) cold, d) fatigue, bleeding will be a visual fx and solved by bandaging. Note that in game screen will be entirely void of ui elements other than small indicator icons. Actual meters will be present in player stat/inventory screen. We're adding a weight limit to the player inventory. 3- adding bear and elk as first pass on wildlife in for v1.0, we're also setting up a trigger event for the deformed, ie when you do something in the game, it will cause them to come out, and when you do this something more and more, the hostility and numbers of them will increase. You'll have to discover what event triggers that for yourself. 4- adding depth to items/weapons: we've refined and tweaked the v1.0-1.5 lineup of weapons. Overall, version 1.0 will have tools, melee has two brutal weapons, and a starting firearm, .357 revolver. In terms or lighting, you'll have campfire, torch(stick), flashlight and flare. In terms of a larger lineup, after we implement the revolver in version 1.0, we'll then add shotgun, hunting rifle, then the military update will bring with a fully customizable modern rifle. 5- item condition will happen first update after we launch v1.1. 6- meaningful game world- I don't want to give anything away until we can show you, but we've devised a world in which campfires, warmth and barricading are super important. Weather, not day/night, will be most important. That's all I'll say about the world for now. 7- finally, loot is randomly generated per new game, and does not respawn, ie finite amount of loot. You'll have the ability to be completely sustainable off the land. Note: after version 1.0 release we'll be spending time making the pet wolf system, military factions, and of course adding more places to see, items and weapons.
Awesome that you have bears but what are elfs? And will you add more wildlife like wolfs, rabbits, deer?

You nailed it Scope! (as you usually have done). Finite ammo, but we will give you capacity to create your own quickly after v1.0.
Could the event that triggers the deformed to come out be a gun shot? Idk you guys using the word trigger made me think of It haha.
