Welcome, I'm sure the Devs will answer your questions, they are really good about doing that. And it seems the game is still being shaped by ideas from the forum and the Devs imagination so post your ideas!!! I'm sure they'd love to see them!
Is the world alive? For example ithe characters in the world can't interact with each other with humor. Sometimes those little detail can make a open world intriguing. Let's compare gta San for the ios and gangstar vegas. Visually gangstar vegas is a more of an eye candy, and gta is the open world you really want to explore for hours. I hope that you guys concentrate on making a great open world game, not just a big boring stage.
I'm not sure there will be characters in the game as it is a survival game, but they did discuss points of interest and possibly ruins for more flare.
Why not include points of Intrest ? It's what makes open world games so much fun for the adventurous gamer. Also since it will be a randomly generated map, those points will always be randomly placed in the world.
So is there a game you're leaning more towards a certain game, for example are you trying to make it more towards the style of the forest, rust, or day z? Or are you going to take some aspects from these games and put them into your game with some of your ideas mixed in?
Wait is this gonna be a desert now? Or are we still having a forest with a desert? I hope it has a huge forest to it. Also are you guys still doing the changing seasons?
I think they said 100 sq km but not totally sure. Idk about the forest thing... Its gonna be weird finding guns sitting out in the middle of nowhere and not a building or something if thats what they're going for...
Man thats gonna be great, take some of the key aspects from some of these games and you got a really enjoyable game.
What would be really cool is when you're sprinting, the camera moves back and forth to show that you're running. Like in Skyrim, or Minecraft. I think it would feel more real-like. Just an idea.
And your weapon moving up and down, or side to side, maybe even diagonally, as it seems weird with your character effortlessly gliding across the screen in most first person iOS games. That's a biggie definitely.
I agree, as well as when you need to heal or something along those lines, it should work like farcry 3.
It's going to be a big island, therefore we are making sure that transportation has a great introduction in v1 launch.
You guys are right on! We're finishing with the tree falling today, then getting right into it; one of our key references is far cry for the first person experience!
Dev update Hey y'all, We've made great progresss so far this week! So far we've got survival mechanics like food, water, health and stamina all rocking and balanced pretty well- can't wait to add player sound effects for breathing and such! We just finished adding the climbing mechanic as we've added ladders like scout towers- very excited to have this. Today we're finishing up the tree cutting and falling experience. Tomorrow we're going to deep dive heavily in the player experience and make sure we've got the hands and weapons all feeling alive - key references are far cry and the forest. Over the weekend we'll be making the GUI for inventory and crafting list- we'll be adding more and more things to craft after v1 too! Shaping up for a great end of week update. Happy week to everyone! -Daniel
