That's what I thought, that would be pretty cool.

I would also be cool if your previous body was already in a state of decay when you find it.

Is that a pun or mere coincidence, there's a game called state of decay.
Anyway, it would be cool if your previous character's corpse decayed more the longer you took to find it.

That reminds me of an old game I've played on Segas Dreamcast called Omikron: The Nomad Soul were you slip into the persons body which will cross your corpse at first. Really great idea!

That's neat, what if the deformed take your body and you may have to retrieve it, to get some belongings back.

GREAT feature/experience everyone! I absolutely love the potential gameplay of this idea. Particularly Scope Reflex's interpretation. I'll pass this along to Clay, because we're definitely going to want to have some draft of this in for v1. We can always hash out the details in the v1.1 patch too.

See, without you guys, this wouldn't end up being half as awesome! Thanks yall, and keep up the great idea sharing! :D

What if instead of them taking your body, you become one, and if you find yourself you can kill yourself and get your stuff back...

It would still be funny to see the deformed dragging your dead corpse away, or have it layed out in one of their little groups. That's what I was thinking anyway, it gives you more of a challenge. I guess it depends on how the deformed work, as I don't think they spread by an infection type thing.

We will definitely try to do something along the lines of the deformed grabbing some of your loot/weapons and such. Imagine you've just been killed by a deformed after finally finding the rare combat machete, and now you've got a deformed running around with your machete in hand.

One of the intersting things we're discussing for the local co-op update is something very familiar to Dark Souls fans- namely the ability to invade someone else's experience. As an example your buddy can invade your map as a deformed! So on the idea board we're trying to reconcile the pros and cons of doing co-op companion vs co-op invasion.

Thoughtful ideas everyone, great work! :D

That sounds really nice there is a lot you could potentially do with that. I can see myself getting killed and looking for hours because some deformed took my gun and dropped it in a bush somewhere nearby haha.

I personally don't know how much I dig the invasion thing. It sounds cool, but practically when my friends and I play games like this I enjoy the teamwork and strategy. The only time I would want to really fight against someone else is when I feel like I need to because they pose a threat, like stumbling upon someone online that I don't know.

So if the world doesn't completely restart, and our body stays for us to go retrieve, what happens to any kind of a base we've built... Would it go away or get overrun by deformed or...

Glad you're liking the player death idea of things happening afterward. We'll into things like craftable a staying after or getting taken over by deformed. Totally agree about the con of coop invasion vs coop companion.

All in all, thanks for your encouragement and feedback buddy! :D

Omg! Please, take as much time as you guys need to develope and perfect all of the new ideas and don't rush. I know we are all dieing for gameplay but seriously. We'll be so much more dissapointed in the long run if it does get rushed. The ideas just keep making this game sound more epic and epic! #

i like the invasion idea a lot, there should at least be an option for it, if time and resources allow

Invasion can easily make or break this game,Dark Souls is one game that does it right 98% of the time but then that's a very carefully crafted game and has a linear(realtively) world which can accommodate this type of gameplay. It will take a lot of effort to implement and might not turn out to be all that great,I would say it's better to just not add any more features and focus on core gameplay ofcourse if the gameplay works out well then it can always be added in an update.:)

if there were an option for it (since you'd likely be playing with buddies over local wifi, or so i'd assume) then it would be sort of an 'either pvp or co-op' sort of deal. personally, i love playing against my friends in games as much as (and in many cases, even more than) playing with them against ai. gameplay feels more open-ended that way, but that's my opinion

Well tbh there are limitless posibilities in an open world game, who would have thought that we could fly jetpacks and stuff in games and yet here we are.It boils down to the gameplay mechanics and overall flow of the game,DS is a prime example where the mechanics are sovsolid that they can give rise to limitless posibilities.

I've died at a single spot over 50 times in Ds(on my lappy it chugs at 15fps)yet each time I've had a different experience killing the same enemies and walking through the same environments. It's the perfect combination of actually intelligent a.i and superb level design that is the key.I've never been bored any of those 50 times even once, huge Testament to role of level design in games.

If I may make another suggestion if you do add the ability to find your own corpse you should still have an option to start out from scratch on a completely new island.

Trust me, we're working everyday on the core experience, honestly it's just refreshing to think long term every once and awhile and most importantly get y'all's feedback. We're product guys after all. :)
