We are very excited for Metal- in fact a Unity higher up tweeted that it was the easy update he's ever made to Unity!! Can't wait to see just how much better all devices perform. In addition I hope it will help us push the top-end settings much further.
We're really emphasizing Rust/Forest base building and crafting for v1- personally I really love the tree felling ascetics in the Forest as well as the manner in which one fills the requirements of the particular craft-able object. Will there be customizable weapons like dayZ style? Where you can interchange scopes, surpressors, etc?

Dev Update: # of Days Survived We've heard from many fans wanting this feature, and therefore we've worked to make that happen for y'all. We'll be sure to have v1 launch with # of days survived screen that will show up when you die.
I'm usually not the one to say this but game center leaderboards integration for number of survived days should be in the game,whether post update or in version 1 the idea is just to awesome to give up on.It'll create that addictive hook that will make people play it again and again each time longer than the last. Also the timer should indicate not only days but hours minutes and seconds that will be a greater motivation than just surviving days.Just my 2 cents.
I agree with goodboy where he says we need something to keep us playing. I think a perfect thing to do would be in game currency. Can be found, or taken from the deformed or military. When you get this you can train your character in areas like: Health Combat Shooting Speed Stealth Hearing And any other thing you could add to the game that could be improved.
Nah i dont think the in game currency is a good idea because the game is called "The Wild" so i dont think the currency goes with what the game is about which is survival but i do think that it would be a good idea to be able to train some things like what you said. For example maybe after every day you survive you get +2% max health so basically your character improves each day as he gets more experience in the wild.
I'm not talking about civilized money. I'm talking about a gold coin or gem or something more natural maybe. Idk it's just an idea.
Yeah but if you were actually stranded in an wild island anything of that sort wouldnt help you develop better skills. I dont like that currency idea cuz i want it to be more realistic. I get you though
Hey toonuva games, what if there were other survivors too? Such as camps, or even people who serve as traders.
Oh yeah i think that would be good. Like maybe every time you start a new game there is like another survivor with a random item(maybe a compass) to trade and then after he trades you the item he gets eaten by a bunch of the deformed and they start chasing you. But every time its a different item and he spawns in a different location.
i feel like needlessly crude, scripted events like that might take away from the (you guessed it!) immersion of the experience
How about train skills by using them? So let's say, if you use a knife often you will get better using it. Learning by doing. Just an idea. It's very realistic ^_^
I am personally really pumped for this game. I watch a lot of twitch tv and have been following some of the big streamers on games like day z and war z. Even though i have never played those games they are really fun to watch and if this is anything like those titles then we are going to have one epic experience with this.
