Congrats if you really can provide a stable framerate with that much trees to render at the same time. Btw, what happens in three days?
People seem to think they are releasing it but really they just said that they might submit it to Apple on the 21st, give or take a few days. Which means we will probably waiting until early October before the game is released?
Draw calls are very low for what we're pushing. Heavy optimization has been done and will get wonderfully reduced with Metal API Metal enabled devices (iPhone 5s, 6, 6+, iPad Air, Mini Retina) do represent a real divider from the rest of the pack in terms of 3D rendering power, so we're actively looking into it over the weekend. Assuming new gen iPads debut in Oct, Metal devices will effectively be 2 generations of products for iOS. source
Wow I really hope that the weather system pays off. By that I mean the graphics of the rain, fog, etc. Are bow and arrows & spears the only craftable weapons / tools currently?
1gb of ddr3 ram is more than enough unless this game somehow trumps Skyrim technically(which I doubt) which runs on an xbox 360 with 512mb ddr3.I don't know where you're getting your facts from.Even the ps3 has 256mb ram available to gpu Graphics are decent perhaps great for a mobile device but noway near early ps3 games let alone the later ones,If 1gb isn't enough then nothing will ever be.There shouldn't be any excuses now either now that metal has been released, low level api same as the one used to make desktop/console games and is able to extract the raw power much more easily.
Metal enabled devices (A7 chips and up) are showing huge leaps over non Metal enabled (A6 chips)! iPhone 5/ iPad 4th (A6 chip sets) will run 25-30fps but we're seeing ridiculous improvement on newer. I'm keeping my iPhone 5 for awhile so rest assured we'll be sure your (@Anonomation) 5C can handle it buddy! Cheers! -Daniel
Hey dan,Sorry if I came off a little condescencing in that post,You game looks beautiful and I wish you guys all the luck. Please do support older devices so that people with A6 can enjoy it too,Good luck.
Hi daniel - toonuvagames so tomorrow is the 21. .. let me ask if u will send it to apple tomorrow ? That would be so awesome !!!!
Hey everyone, Clay and I are going to spend some time really looking into what are the boundaries for optimization - ie we dont want to be working on getting THE WILD on older devices after v1.0 is launch and on the App Store. I also want to showcase the full GUI/HUD to yall and get feedback. Talk soon! -Daniel [Update] Clay's going to spend a couple of days trying to get THE WILD on more non-Metal devices other than iPhone 5 and iPad 4- Metal devices are rocking THE WILD! In the mean time I'll be adding more content, and I'll try to add more features.
Dev Update: GUI/HUD/Inventory/Crafting Hey y'all, Wanted to show y'all the final draft GUI design that we're shipping with for v1 THE WILD. Here you'll see Survival Mechanics (thirst, hunger, fatigue, health/blood), crafting list, basic inventory. The graphics scale well to iPad with the 4:3 screen ratio. As we actively go through optimization, we'll be adding some more features, content.
That just looks amazing. Also, apologies if this has been asked, but will v1 have iPhone 6 support and utilize Metal? Also how big will the map be? Good luck and thanks!
