Ok seriously are you guys starting over AGAIN? It's starting to become annoying. I'm beginning to think this is all fake. All they've shown were fancy screenshots of environments since, what, April? And the "gameplay video" was nothing more than about 3 seconds of a bear running around. Can you make a trailer or a bit longer gameplay video? Make up your mind please if it's not a phony game.
Okay so firstly, we've been extremely transparent with development. Secondly, we have a creative duty to experiment with whatever game worlds we want- sharing the creative process with you does NOT mean things can't change. Thirdly, we have the game running on iPhone 5 and above at 30+fps- do we want to show the player movement off yet? No, because it doesn't have the magic that the world provides, but thats precisely where we are in dev tonight -survival mechanics UI and player movement. Fourthly, the game world in the screens has loot spawning, wildlife and deformed spawn points, day/night, fog/clear atmosphere conditions, not too mention grass and tree in rendering at vast distances on iDevices- which is a badass feat for just two of us. Kindly I say to you, you will soon regret making such rude comments as we are showing more and more of the game. I really appreciate the feedback. -Daniel and Clay.
dev update: moving right into survival mechanic gui Hey y'all, So we're moving right into the survival/inventory GUI. You can see we have 4 main stats for v1- water, food, fatigue, blood. For survival crafting, we've got the basics you've expected- campfire, spear, sleeping bag, bow and arrows. For the inventory, we've got 6 boxes, which we are designing for sense of weight- i.e. you can't haul a bunch of stuff with you everywhere you go. We're going to be adding backpack and such to expand that amount of slots too. Note: everything is functional, we're just focused on making the graphics themselves better. Now it's time to rock game dev until the sun comes up!
These screenshots look so amazing. I haven't been so hyped for a game in a long time. This game is seriously looking awesome. Thanks guys for the effort and I can speak for myself, and tell you that I will be buying this immediately after it comes out. Also, now that we've seen the new screens, does this mean there's going to be a forest environment, desert environment, AND snow environment? That would be so much variety and would really be cool. Keep up the good work!
Thanks buddy! First off I'm a really really big fan of the trees we implemented. To me they feel gorgeous yet a little creepy. After many iterations (creative and technical) with many different biomes tested we determined that a rich forest island complimented the tree design quite nicely. We're also definitely adding a fantastic thunderstorm experience in the 1st update (v1.1)! Note that v1 launches with a great misty forest effect.
You cry about no gameplay videos, then you get them. You complain about how long it takes for each update, then you get an update almost every day. Now you're complaining about what they give you?! Really?! The devs have been working nonstop from March to now to give you something that's never been done before on iOS, and this is how you treat them? They don't have to share any info about development, but when they take the time to do it, they get this? Not fair at all.
Give or take a couple of days things are looking great. Optimization really paid off. Now we're focused solely with providing you with solid design and good pacing.
Just shut the #### up and get off of this forum. How can you complain about devs that interact with the public this much AND develope a game as gorgeous as this this in such short time.. (Sorry, someone had to be a little harsh..)
So you didn't make any announcements of delaying anything as far as I know? I mean the tentative date you guys gave is still good right? Otherwise I don't understand that guy's little tantrum over there.
Didn't they just reply and explain themselves to your comment two posts ago... Just calm down with the release date anxiety.. Do we want an unpolished or polished game here.. Come on just give them their space and time to work. There are HUGE dev companies that are years off of your release date, so even a couple weeks wouldn't kill anyone.
Toonuva, I can say, this game will be best seller, hope now that minecraft have been bought by Microsoft, these fans move up to this game. Also looking at this pictures, i can imagine how happy are you to get this game working, it is just amazing the job you are doing. I really, really hope the outcome of this game makes you travel around the world twice hahahah. Have a nice day. Thanks for everything.
I'm sorry and I don't mean this in a bad way, but with the new iOS 8 update and the beta testing site Toonuva posted earlier # I'm just wondering if they wanted some beta testers ✋I volunteer haha but I like the development on the game too, they don't have to if they don't want
Beta is difficult on IOS. Just saying. Well, here we are. I joined this forum at around 50 pages. How this has changed since then. It was a DayZ/ rust game. Maybe somewhat like The Forest. But now, it has taken on its own unique path in development. And this is what lots of people are looking for. Words can't express how amazing this is, that this game is this close to release. It is amazing. I would like to personally thank everyone on the Toonuva team. When people hear about this game, it will take off. Just give it some time. Also, when people talk about a release date: it is never certain with Apple. It can take anywhere from 3 hours, to 3 weeks to review an app. And something this big, will definitely take a while. Just cause it says September 21st( I'm pretty sure that's the date) doesn't mean that that is the exact date. <3 Toonuva and the forums.
Can you read? I'm wondering because your reply is a total incoherent non-sequitur to my post. I'm not putting Toonuva on the spot, I'm defending them. I'm saying that other db threw a tantrum over absolutely nothing. Geez.
iOS8, Metal, App Store Improvements, Apple TV Hey y'all ! Woke up this morning to see that Apple has a featured section for Metal games - super exciting for us! In addition we're seeing video previews! Also Apple TV got a nice revamp too. Cheers to new iPhones tomorrow too!
Thanks so much buddies! We're trying to do the best work of our lives. So glad y'all are a deep part of our development and design of The Wild! -Daniel
