Wright Brothers Abraham Lincoln A vampire Someone with terminal disease(I know it's not gaming material)
Ok, let's take these awesome people in order: Guy Fawkes - don't need to say anything. Just remember the 5th of november. However, I would make the story not around him, but around a person helping him Ernest Hemingway - This: Erwin Schrodinger - Mixed feelings ) Christopher Columbus - Lol on the ship part. Tesla - Another good choice - I read a lot about him and could see a story about him destroying all his inventions because "the world is not ready". For all these suggestions, here are two more objects from the story where William gets pregnant. Oooh boy!
James Cook - I would have him captured by pirates... just saying Wright Brothers - I would instead mention Traian Vuia, a Romanian (yes, I am biased), one of the people to fly before the brothers and who died during one of his flights. He was probably smiling. Abraham Lincoln - need to do a lot of reading on him but he has a lot of "baggage". I would however put the story in the hands of someone who tries to stop him getting killed A vampire - double points for first mithical creature ) - a lot of people would go "that's nor a real person" while playing a game about time travel ). However, I am from Romania and yes, we are famous for Dracula (unfortunately, because we have so many more other cool stuff there that actually have a reflection in the mirror). Someone with terminal disease(I know it's not gaming material) - Now this for me is a winner - Quantum Leap's strong point for me was always the situations and conflicts and hard decisions that Sam had to fac and put up with. we have some of those in the game. So yes, definitely someone with terminal diseasse (the bucket list maybe? Some kopi luwak?) Will probably add the people who suggested to the credits
Oh wow, I saw this mentioned in the Hard Games thread, but I didn't know you were considering historical events/characters too. I love history so this is awesome My suggestions: Pompeii Julius Caesar Thermopylae Apollo launch/lunar landing WW2/Normandy invasion Rasputan Lewis & Clark Cortes/Aztecs 1893 World Fair Frontier/Settlers/Oregon Trail Napoleon Magellan Northwest Passage Shackleton
For me at least Quantum Leap meant learning a lot of lessons and living some intense moments. At the age that I watched the series, it was as if I was in Sam Beckett's place. So, apart from the fast arcade levels, the stories will always teach you something about history and we will try for something about life. So a kid or anyone playing this game will also learn, not just play. And the data and information will always be accurate. So let's say for example if we decided to put the story of the polish Pianist... oh... was I saying that out loud? Moving on.... The initial stories are already written. But this is a long term project and we want to do a new story every two weeks or even every week. That is why we are gathering all your famous and least famous people. You can also give us personal stories. They don't have to be famous. If the story has life value and was a strong experience, tell us about it! We will also have short funny stories. For example: Prologue: I wake up in a small stuffy room. I am at a desk. I look around and recognize the company. It was a famous video social network. I look at my computer. I seem to be some sort of moderator for videos. I try and find out who I am... Play the level in which you say: Might as well do my job till I figure out what I'm here to do. Epilogue: While looking around to see who I am, another video pops up for moderation. I start playing it and it seems annoyingly familiar. Then I see the user name: J. Bieber. I delete the video. I block the user. I am jumping in time again. What, that was it? Now, on to Bronxsta's suggestions: Pompeii Julius Caesar - I would probably see the story of the first Triumvirate in the person of Julia, whom Pompeii marries to secure this alliance Thermopylae - need to read. ususally centered around a person or a famous event Apollo launch/lunar landing - or earlier launches and you are the dog/monkey WW2/Normandy invasion - Very good one, but I have to find a less obvious perspective on the matter Rasputin - Hard one... need to read Lewis & Clark - Great Story to tell. Quote from wikipedia about their expedition Cortes/Aztecs - Need to read about this 1893 World Fair - Very nice - need to read Frontier/Settlers/Oregon Trail - There could be an interesting story about the land grab? Napoleon - I can see it now with him leading the pack with a "short" temper Magellan - Next to Columbus Try to also think about remarkable stories that you know about but do not see them as such. For example, a story will probably be about an aunt that risked her life during comunism to go to America so she could bring her nephew for a leg operation (yours truly). Or listen to what Morgan Freeman has to say. I've bragged on long enough... for now. But because you took the time to read all this, here's the entire background for the "Oooh boy I'm pregnant" story/levels.
Pompeii - This is the city that was destroyed by the Mt. Vesuvius eruption, I think that counts as a great historical event. Maybe we could play a philosopher or scholar trying to warn people and then rescuing someone during the disaster? Thermopylae - This was the site of the famous battle that the movie 300 was based om. Spartans and others against the Persian army at the mountain pass at Thermopylae Rasputin - He was mystic and adviser to the Romanovs in the 1900s. There were something like seven attempts on his life...in the same day, before he was finally assassinated. 1893 World Fair - This would be great. You have everyone from Edison to Roosevelt to Ferris and first Ferris wheel to the dark activity of the first serial killer HH Holmes Frontier/Settlers/Oregon Trail - There could be an interesting story about the land grab? Or about the settlers trying to survive on their arduous journey or farmers, barons, and cowboys. Or the wild west --- Five more: The events around the Transcontinental Railway Leif Erikson - Viking that reached Newfoundland/New World The Alamo Something with Lawrence of Arabia Marco Polo's journeys
@Bronxsta Heh, now I have what to read over the weekend. Will be a long list. You all do know that should your story suggestion come up for future updates, we will let you share your feedback and input when crafting the story! if you want to of course
It is possible, but there are so many stories from the past that it wasn't a priority. What did you have in mind? Star trek? Aliens? Star Wars? It could span out to jumping on other planets as well ) I would actually go for Beethoven after he became deaf The way the story goes, because he jumps back in time, he distorts everything that happened up until that point. That is why he jumps from person to person. To set things right. To "put things back" how they were before he traveled
True. Star Wars, Star Trek etc is not the future, it's more like a diffrenet dimension. But saving a poor mammoth from getting eaten by some tribe, or opposite way - helping a poor and dying tribe by catching a mammoth to it fits in your game idea
Hey everyone, I've updated the first post with new screenshots and all your suggestions just to have them in one place. This is how we feel after reading all of them and thinking about possible stories/scenarios: After launch we will probably have a poll + a sweepstake with a small prize for everyone who has or will enter suggestions (not a sure thing yet. Ziggy says the odds are way up there ). Also, if a story you suggested gets to go in the game, you will be mentioned in the game credits + if you have the time, you get to work on the story with us (For us that's exciting ) We are working hard on getting the game up to the level where it's ok to jump in time and on the AppStore. We'll also put out a trailer and some more in game videos sometime next week.
You could do Stephen a Hawking chasing down equations as he attampts to develop his theory on black holes
) Well, since you brought this up, at one point we were considering doing very short one episode stories. In one of them, you jumped in time in a small writer's room. You are pointing a gun at a man sitting at his desk. He is trying to protect himself holding a book. You know the book. You recognize the man. You ask him: "Did you write that book?" He says yes. You shoot smiling. You jump in time again ) However it is on hold at the moment
So guys, since we have just 1-2 more weeks to go till we launch, we are starting to roll out the commercials for the powerups. What do you think? Also, we are preparing a test build for the end of today. Anyone here who would like to give it a try?
