Same here in one move I got trapped by spiders and got killed lol. I caved and bought the complete pack playing as the archer. Made it to different parts of the cave which I'm happy about. I really love this game. Really like how they keep the game book alive with adding a board where you can imagine the setting
It's weird. Besides earning souls for completing achievements, you also seem to be rewarded for killing nearly everything in your path. It would be nice to be rewarded (maybe with extra souls and/or character-specific equipment) for acting in ways that reflect your character's specialisation/archetype. I tried playing a 'rogue' character by taking shortcuts and avoiding combat as much as possible. I ended up with a low score at the end. But when I used the same character to kill just about everything that crossed my path, my score ended up being much higher. Go figure It would be nice to see new combat mechanics (like spells for magic users) for future updates. And maybe allow some characters' stories to be continued in future FF game adaptations. And it's strange how there's a cleric-type character who can't use spells to heal--even though I'm sure it says somewhere in the description that he uses healing magic (among others). *shrugs*
Ah, yes I finished her route. It's the Shieldmaiden, I think? Satisfying and easy to play--the character's 'attack and heal' move saved me a number of times.
Well, I get the essence of the battles, I think ) Now, for some reason on Ipad air 2 it looks like there is no retina assets. All looks blurry.
Beat Zagor with Blacksand. I was kind of disappointed that I got to him so fast. Still enjoying the game and will continue playing with other characters to explore the full breadth of the game world, but I'm not sure there's "1,000's of choices" for the four original characters combined.
"1000s of choices" is a bit of an exaggeration :S Many characters with shared traits have similar choices and outcomes--only the internal thoughts and quest-specific character decisions (that determine where a character might choose to go) are different. And so much of the narration is the same. I've already played through many routes of the Complete Pack, and variations are only slight (though Malleus Malleus's route has an interesting twist that isn't capitalised on nearly enough--would've made more fights interesting). And I've discovered another way to 'cheat': Whenever I fail a Skill or Luck check, I immediately quit and relaunch the app. Resuming the game allows a reroll. I like this exploit And a small writing-related gripe: I've noticed a few dangling participles and a misspelling or two (like 'palette' instead of 'palate').
Finished as orc gal. Game of the (previous) week for me ) https://hypestorm.ru/game-of-the-week-the-warlock-of-the-firetop-mountain/
I like the procedurally generated areas like inside the globe. Would be neat to see more of that or a mode based on that kind of like how Mortal Kombat has its quest mode as a distraction from the tournament and versus modes. It'd be interesting to play a puzzle combat mode since the fighting in this game is essentially a little game of chess where you have your choice of a single piece with unique behaviors and abilities to play against three to five other AI pieces. A group battle mode would be cool too. Imagine using two or three hero pieces on a bigger field with more opponents. I wonder what kind of interactions you could have combat-wise between the various characters. Basically, I just hope the dev adds more to this game to flesh it out. There's lots of potential here.
Has anybody found the 'best' ending for Alfina Skyrider's route? I keep getting the same one even after Spoiler asking the potion assistant about a cure for the pegasi.
Boy oh boy. I was worried that I was getting bored with the game, but it was just that I was in the middle of an Arran Gattspeed run. Sheesh - whatta boring character. Does this game kill anyone else's battery? I mean, it's like as soon as I start playing I'm getting 20/10% battery warning prompts in like no time flat. It's a nice looking game as far as gamebooks go, but not THAT good looking...
High Nostalgic Value I had forgotten about game books till I started playing games on iOS. I started reading about them because of all the games out on the AppStore based on them and other tabletop games. I used to read them as a kid but had forgotten I ever did. I tried playing Sorcery! But couldn't get into it. I also tried playing some of the digital table top games on the AppStore also because I also played as kid, & I was a huge D&D geek, but I couldn't get into them either. I figured I outgrew all of it completely even though I still play video games and love rpg's and fantasy games, books, and movies. I haven't gotten back into tabletop gaming, though So I tried to give the genre another shot because of my love of fantasy pop culture and because of the great reviews this game has received and Bam! It hit me! I was transported back to my childhood days playing D&D and reading these game books. This game melds the 2 styles perfectly and gives me that nostalgic feeling of playing D&D with my friends in my room or alone reading these game books. The power of choice and consequences in an incredible beautiful fantasy world in my hand is perfectly implemented here. Imo. I love the look and feel of the game It's so much fun. I highly recommend this game. I'm even going to revisit Sorcery! & give it another shot
Wow, I must be the only one SO, I purchased the last group of heroes available so I could play the shield maiden character. I started a play and noticed that in game her figurine colors were still grey like they show before you purchase them. I tried to restart the game many times, start a new adventure multiple times, then finally uninstalled and re-installed. When I went back into the app, my purchase was not recognized, AND...damnit...when I go to try to use the restore purchases button in the options menu...it flat out does NOT work. Checked my bank to make sure the purchase actually went through, it did. I have emailed the devs TWICE now, with a lengthy detailed description of exactly what happened and how I tried to remedy this. The second email went out yesterday, the one before that over a week ago. NO response. Its frustrating because I really immediately knew I wanted to play with the shield maiden and just can't at this point so I don't even wanna start the game. I asked them to restore my purchase or just give me a refund, neither seems to be occurring, so I guess I will wait another 2 days or so, then just call the 800 # on my bill and get it removed. And I guess...play through with the chick with a cloak and sword/dagger...and NEVER...purchase any of their DLC...which I would have spent...its gonna be their loss. Horrible support so far as I can see. If anyone has any ideas please lemme know, I love the game, its fun, so I wanna support it and play through multiple characters. I am playing on an IPhone 6s btw.
Reply toTychaeus Hi there Tychaeus. We've just noticed your comment on this thread after being away from the TA forums for a few months. Firstly, we're sorry you had problems installing the in-app purchases and secondly we're sorry no-one got back to your emails. We usually respond to bug reports within 48 hours, so it seems strange that we have missed this, but if we have overlooked it then our humblest apologies again. We've only heard of this happening in one other case, and despite a number of attempts, have not been able to replicate the bug. It may be that there was some kind of data error at the time of purchase between yourself and the app store. The work-around is to simply purchase it again (you won't be billed), and it should appear. Would be happy to talk about this further, so feel free to drop me an email at neilrennison (at) tinmangames (dot) com (dot) au.
Thanks to the dev for the sale! I have the game already on my pc and was just waiting for a sale to get it on my iPad. While I played the pc version for a few days I felt it would be far better for me on my iPad. It is and now I will play it properly, perhaps even fork out for the iaps as well. #
Think I will buy this too. I was always interested. I tend to play one game into extinction before trying another. Thanks for posting this comment as it made me look into the game again. I see the sale is on the toucharcade site too now.
