Actually, you can look at specific unit info in the combat map: just hit "Cancel" when one of your units is selected, then tap on any of the enemy units -- you'll see the unit name and level, hit points and energy info on the upper right corner.
Some aged thoughts: Is it a good game? Quite yes. Is it a game to satisfy my appetites for SRW:OG? Afraid not. One of the major elements that make SRW:OG fun is the story. It is filled with all the stereotypes and cliché you can find in Japan robot animes set in modern world (or Japan if you insist). However WoE lacks all these factors, even though the game poke fun on them occasionally. Another problem I have with the game is the characters (including the robots) is they are quite distance to me the player. Watching exchange of flirts between the main characters may be fun, but most of them are too 2-dimensional. The combat system is another problem I have. Unlike SRW series, which follows I-move-u-move, WoE takes a mixed approach: There is a long queue showing which character moves next. Fine, but the initiative looks very random to me, some time my blue robot moves before the orange robot but on the next "turn"(?), the sequence may be switched. Also as the screen filled with generic units and it is very clumsy to find out if the unit next to my blue guy is moving in or just another unit far far away. Well, this is hard for me to plan for my characters to advance or defense since I have very little idea what comes up next. It is crucial since getting one of my characters killed normally means loading the last save again. Character advance is also a problem. I have no problem with the generous supply of upgrade parts but my characters maxed out too quickly and despite, I still get my arse handed to me more often than I like. This game has some pretty good design and I think it definitely needs RD support and / or a character viewer. (after the option to turn off combat)
Okay, fine, mileage varies. Or may be I should stop whining and make one on my own...since a 14-year old can make something out of the Corona, well, I could try something out...(but don't hold your breath)
Always the best response . Seriously, though, the developers clearly made some design decisions that make the game not just a SRW clone. Some folks are going to like that more than others. As to the story, at least it has its own personality .
Well, if everyone takes "one person's feast is other's poison", there may be less flame wars, I guess... I am not going to finger-point to any developer but in my book, for most of the time a great clone is not altogether a bad thing, just make sure it is done right. Now back to the game...
And tapping the small info panel will bring full-sized status panel, where you can find all information including weapons. Tapping any of the units listed on the left side will move the focus to the unit, helping you find out where the next units are. Tapping the top-left corner will return the focus to active unit and show action buttons.
I thought SRW:OG was the least SRW ever made? Wasn't its gameplay fundamentally different? I like Eustrath a lot because it reminds me of the SRW games I played back in high school on a Super Famicom.
No, the latest would be 2nd SRW Z on PSP, due out some time "soon". Not exactly because different SRW titles / series have different game systems. Some have squad system, some have combo, combined attack and so on... I guess this is not the right place talk about OG (Original Generation), but OG1 and OG2 originally appear on Gameboy Advanced Enhanced version of OG1 and 2 has been ported to PS2 with all new 3D graphics maps and a lot more "blood-boiling" cut scenes (try to search on YouTube) and OG2 Side Story is a PS2-only title. OG contains characters (robot in this sense is also a character) who have not previously appeared on any anime or manga title so that is why they are "original". However, most of them appear one way or the other in some SRW series before like Cyblaster and Dizenga.
Restart the game again on Sunday and pass that crazy level 10. Uneven difficulty level hurts. Tips, terrain defense level helps.
Yeah level 10 is a crazy one and I do agree about the uneven difficulty. Enemies that can wipe out my gears with just one hit is kind of crazy, especially so early in the game.
Yes, definitely enjoying this game a lot after getting it - it requires careful thought and strategy, true, which might scare casual gamers. But simple unit management and knowledge of terrain and unit advantages/ disadvantages should be enough. Im currently at the mission where you fight 2 of the 4 (Millia and the Blaze Duke) and after beating it, and then reading a walkthrough on GameFAQS it seems its possible to recruit one of them in this mission! Anyone manage to recruit either one successfully? I'll repeat this mission again as I dont want to miss on this chance!
oh,. no, I was just wondering... didn't wanna buy it right before I update my iOS and then have it not work. =oP Thnx for responding though. =o)
my game always freezes when that weird guy comes in faces, new and old in war of eustrath, how to stop?
