You have a glowing review on the front page and over 200 posts on this thread (plus the ones on the iPad thread) pretty much all from people who like the game. Exactly what other impressions are you waiting for? BTW, I think there's enough original content in this game that it shouldn't be called a knock off of anything, unless you think that every TB JRPG is a knock-off of Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.
I absolutely loved the SRW: OG games on GBA, and this is just like them. It is a little bit of a ripoff of those games, but in a very good way. If you loved the SRW games, you'll enjoy this.
I think there is something weird about the stats of our main character (Luke). For instance Tianex has far better stats than him. Will Luke get sort of buffs or upgrade later in the game ?
Oh .. so that's what quick loads are for I kept playing that stage over and over again when I could quick load .. Thanx mate
Nice to see the developers port this game! game was originally called Battle of the Youstrass, completed back when i was small. Characters and robots changed but still one of RTS i would have <3
He is supposed to be damaged, according to the story. Later in the game he is repaired and gets his full stats.
I don't know if it was an RTS originally, but it's a turn based SRPG now. I'm assuming he keeps any upgrades you gave him though, right?
Oh, about abilities, when you use them, do you get to use them again in the same battle? E.g. if I used the increase XP ability (I forget what it's called), how long does it last, and how many times can I use it?
The ability last for the turn -- meaning your main action and any defense actions. You can activate it again for the next turn, but it will cost you more will. You can stack self-repair and healing actions; it can get expensive will-wise, though.
As as I can tell, it's all ability based. In general, the game doesn't allow for item use during battles.
Game Impressions Hi guys, Got the game on release day and didn't quite manage to pull myself away from it. The plot was nice and functional, but not something I'd shout about. For those who do not want to replay the game from scratch, just remember to keep multiple save files. The cutscenes used to progress the plot are nicely done, I think they're a whole lot nicer than those in quite a few of the other rpgs I've played on the platform. Love the gameplay and the lil intricacies the devs put into the combat. Stuff like terrain effects, will management, etc etc, imo all of em came together to give the combat that extra layer of depth. Only 2 VERY VERY small gripes I have with the game. 1) Please release an update for a new game+ option? I'm sure I won't be the only one with this request heh. 2) It'd be better if terrain effects were given a more important role in the game. Personally I never quite paid attention to that until the last few battles, and I never had to restart a level up until the last couple of em. Easily worth the full price, any srpg fans should get this. I still take FFT as the holy grail of srpgs but this one is good enough to warrant a purchase.
I had my doubt, then I purchased and rejoiced; this is a nifty and entertaining game. The upgrading system is simple, robust, yet has depth. I'm very happy about my purchase The characters and dialog can be a bit.. over the top, but it's a compelling story nontheless.
