Just caught up on this show, and... WOW! It's everything I never knew I actually wanted from a full-fledged, zombie series. Can't really compare them with movies but it left a much deeper impact on me than 28 Days/Weeks Later, or any other similar Zombie movies which are just about mindless killing. Off to find some Zombie games... suggestions, anyone? Dead Rising and Zombieville USA, here I come...
The TV show is crap compared to the comics it was based in. If you really liked the series that much, do yourself a huge favor, forget about stupid zombies games and go buy the comics as fast as you can, they're awesome.
I have to disagree with you. Kirkman's writing/pacing is so slow compared to the show that it's barely even worth your time to read it. I got bored after the first five issues.
(clapping) Welcome to the party! Yeah, this is the BEST show on TV. They are making an iOS title based on it though. Until that comes out, then I sugest: Resident Evil 4 Plants vs. Zombies

Kirkman's pacing is slow because the comic is more about thorough character development in a post apocalyptic future than it is about action scenes or even zombies in general. The whole idea is more about getting the reading emotionally vested in the characters themselves. If you look at the story and it's progression, it's almost as though zombies were an afterthought, IMO. If you want a good, fun and funny read, also by Kirkman(actually his first published work) check out 'Battle Pope'. It's got plenty of action and it's quite funny. ***Note, if you're a die-hard Christian, you probably will not like Battle Pope. Also, 'Invincible', again, by Kirkman is an astounding super hero comic right up there with the best Marvel/DC comics IMO. Oh, did I forget to mention 'Marvel Zombies'? Yet another great Kirkman comic... I'm a Kirkman fan, can you tell? Kirkman spends pages upon pages drawing out things which would normally take one page, and his "characterization" is just a bunch of shitty paragraph-long monologues that feel out of place and awkward. He's terrible. He has good ideas but he needs an editor badly. **this is after reading 60 issues of Invincible, by the way. iprice Member Mar 10, 2011 14 0 0 #11 iprice, Apr 25, 2011 The Walking Dead is definitely my one of my fave shows of late. Simply brilliant. Season 2 was scheduled for the end of October (Halloween), but this was changed and it's now coming in... June. Much earlier than expected, due to high demand. danrel Well-Known Member Dec 21, 2008 416 0 0 Software dealings-with-er, Illustrator Central NC #12 danrel, Apr 25, 2011 Sorry you feel that way SM, but I stand by what I said. You may hate his writing style and pacing, which BTW, if you do, why did it take you 60 issues of Invincible to realize that? I don't know, I like the his style of writing. His style, to me seems more like stream-of-consciousness than an overly thought out and deliberate comic-style writing and pacing, which can come off as chaotic and confusing at times, but it keeps me on my toes while reading. Also, I'm pretty OCD, so maybe that's why I like dwelling on the small details as Kirkman does danrel Well-Known Member Dec 21, 2008 416 0 0 Software dealings-with-er, Illustrator Central NC #13 danrel, Apr 25, 2011 In my opinion, TWD has the most believable characters as real life people with real life issues, not sensationalized hero issues. It just makes the characters a lot more relatable... Maybe it's just me. iprice Member Mar 10, 2011 14 0 0 #14 iprice, Apr 25, 2011 I agree - they are not heroes; they are merely survivors trying to remain alive as best as they can. The TWD shows humans behaving like humans, with realistic human emotions - it's what separates the survivors from the zombies. And what makes the show and the characters believable and so damned watchable. KiddToKmart Well-Known Member Feb 10, 2011 1,399 0 0 #15 KiddToKmart, Oct 19, 2011 So... impressions on the Season Premiere? Spoilers ahoy! I personally thought the pacing was a bit slow... couldn't care less if they find Sophia or not. I'm not sure where they're trying to go with Laurie Holden's character (Andrea) but it looks like she'll be hooking up with Shane pretty fast. Can't wait for the tension to break when Rick finds out about his wife's affair as well... i wonder how he'll take it. T-Dog's accidental arm-slice was pretty idiotic, besides being annoying to watch. How do you split your arm open so easily? Overall, i'd give the opener a 7.5/10... hope they add more interesting side-stories in the coming episodes. walsh06 Well-Known Member Mar 6, 2009 1,757 3 0 http://liamwul.wordpress.com/ #16 walsh06, Oct 19, 2011 I cant believe they skipped over a pretty big moment in Shanes storyline. I know they are doing it there way but I figured they would keep that. I also dont know why (like you said) Andrea is being done this way. I understand being upset about your sister but they never spun this suicidal/crazy streak on her. KiddToKmart Well-Known Member Feb 10, 2011 1,399 0 0 #20 KiddToKmart, Mar 14, 2012 Between chasing after Sylvia and Carl being shot at and recovering over multiple episodes, the excitement and greatness of the first season was nowhere to be found. I think the producers got the hint and kicked it up several notches. Hell, i would have been MORE than content if last week's episode was the season finale... my jaw was on the floor!
