Thanks a lot. I got a reply to my tweet saying that they had these problems on jailbroken iPhones and iOS7, which is what I have.

Gwarmaxx, is your phone on iOS7 and jailbroken too? I don't know if they'll be able to fix it if it has to do with the jailbreak though :(

Thanks for showing us this bug, we've around 30 testers on iOS since January and never had a crash, also on game statistics we had really rare crashes till now.
actually the problems comes only from 2 jailbroken iOS7 devices so the problem is really restricted.
We're waiting for the plist save files to see what went wrong and will let u know.

About the gameplay: the managerial side is complete but the arcade game is still really basic and we think to improve it over the next months following player suggestions.

The gameplay can be changed on options, we have 3 gameplay speed and 3 ball control setting from easy to hard to have the best user experience.
Is it true also the game works better on iPad, the smaller the display the harder is to play so better use easier ball control and slower gameplay on smaller devices.

We've already tried "tap is pass and press is shoot." but it didn't really work on touch devices (most players were confused and passing instead shooting at goal). So on upcoming versions there'll be a new solution to have a more intuitive way to pass/shoot that work nice for both newbies and older fans on touch screens

Mailed you the corrupted PLIST save file. I'm able to reproduce/corrupt the PLIST by:

    1. Creating many save games.
    2. Saving many replays.

If I had to guess, I'd say problems appear when the PLIST becomes >4MB in size. I know the game has problems reading it because when it sometimes worked (PLIST size between 3 and 3.5MB), the "choose language" menu, along with the ok button, suffered a lot of slowdown. It took several seconds to allow to choose the language and load the game. After that, I saved a new replay and when I quit the game, I wasn't able to boot it again.

Thanks for all your help! :)

That eliminates the jailbreak fact... Mmm... Maybe it's the way iOS 7 manages the savegame PLIST. I know they're trying to replicate the same issue on iOS 8 & 9. I hope they find a solution.

i've figured out that's a problem with the number of saves, mine is working fine with one season save only, regardless replays (have two atm), i've already warned devs on twitter.

We can confirm we replicated the same problem also on ios9: after 6 game saved and 10 replays saved the app is not starting anymore!
We're working on it to release a fix soon.
In the meantime don't save too many replays and the game will keep working fine!

Thanks again for this bug report!

You can have a small amount of replays (2?) and won't have problems. I believe the problematic PLIST size is >4MB, and it doesn't matter if that size is achieved with savegames or replays.

@Devs: maybe if savegames & replay save archives were independently saved (1 save = 1 archive), this wouldn't happen? That way you'd also be able to manage saved replays to delete them whenever you wanted easily. Just a suggestion here, from the logic of a person with nearly zero programming knowledge :p

This sounds good! Hope you find a way to replicate how original KO played, i.e. one button did everything.

If it's not possible on touchscreen devices then definitely having 2 buttons would do the trick...

    Oh man! This game's bliss!
It would be A W E S O M E if you could just add "Goal Scoring Superstar Hero" from SWOS as intro song, but I'm afraid it's still copyrighted to Jon Hare & Co.

I think the game description says it all: "You're playing as an International class football player that takes charge of a third division club as Player Manager. His brief is simple - Bring Back The Glory Days."
I think that career is meant to start from a low division team and climb the ladder. You're not supposed to start the game as Real Madrid's manager :/
This is how soccer manager games were played back in the days. They would give you a fantasy named team to take to the stars among real teams; they didn't dump you at the head of Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Juventus from the beginning like "modern" soccer manager probably do (you know, instant gratification as opposed to the satisfaction of earning something through consistent playing the game...)

This game is based on Player Manager, though...

I think I read somewhere in the manual that if you renamed your team to Real Madrid for example, the other Real Madrid in game is renamed to something else. In any case, it's more satisfying to be offered the management of Real Madrid in game than to rename your team to Real Madrid.

Well said, we couldn't write it better!
The aim of Soccer Player Manager 2016 is to build a soccer empire from a little village club ;)
You can however call your team "RealMadrid" and the player manager "Zinedine Zidane" but u'll always start as a 3rd division club and struggle from the muddy fields up to best soccer stadiums in the World

Something we'll want to add on future versions will be of being asked to managing a national team to also conquer the Football World Cup.

BTW we're listening and understand who wants to start instantly to play with his big team on main division!
We've already planned a spin-off game more arcadish were you'll be able to play with your favourite team like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United.
The game will have just basic managerial options and probably we'll add also National teams.
A fast tournament or a single game "Real Madrid vs Barcelona" will be available without the need to start football career from a little village ;)

The games will be always one-button, expect some upgrades on the ball control since actually it's pretty basic.
about the saves, we'll limit the number of game saved and we temporary suspend replay saves until we'll find a better way to save them
(PC MAC WIN LINUX versions will keep the ability to save replays).

Correct. The Amiga original was like this.
This is basically player manager with the kick off 2 game engine.

Although i think swos/sensible soccer are fine games,i never went along with the narrative that they were better than kick off 2.But i can see why many people think swos is better (easier control etc)

Incidentally,i find changing the controls to normal/hard & playing at a slower speed provides a far more enjoyable experience (when using touch screen control). Not too easy & not too hard.

    Great game.Always was.

#teamSWOS here (Sensible Soccer and SWOS are *very* different, graphics apart), but I loved Player Manager and Kickoff 1 and 2. And I will love this game, too. :)

I hope we will get MFi support soon. :)

A spin off sounds like fun too! Especially if I could manage a MLS club. That's the one thing I've wanted in a mobile manager for so long. However, their league is structured a little differently. But I bet in the spinoff it would be normal.

Thanks for taking time to hang out here and communicate with us!
