I'm playing on my 4S and the gfx are tiny tiny, and I played Sensible Soccer a lot on my SNES. This one looks pretty similar, and gameplay-wise it reminds me a lot to it too. I've yet to play the manager part, but I'm having a great time with it. The best release of this week for sure. I guess it's free just because its code is open source. You can feel the love put into this game by the devs. Incredible. Molto grache!
Gameplay graphics and gameplay itself are Kick-Off 2 rip - it says in the game description as well. Nothing to do woth Sensi/SWOS, which has other influences on the game but definitely not on the pitch.
The description talks about all the games together, but you are right: gfx and pitch gameplay are Kick Off (Googled it). I guess my memory is not as good as it used to be Does anyone know how to record replays on this version? I see there's an option to watch recorded replays, but I can't find where to record them. Clicking on the R during a match shows you the replay of the last seconds of gameplay, but it isn't recorded nor is there any button to save them.
Love this one! Finally a manager game where I can play in the MLS. Sort of. I mean it's structured weird, like and English system, but it works! Wish I could pick the club I start with. But this is probably true to the original(s). Once the BPL is off for the season and I am focused on my local FC Dallas, at least I can play this and rename my team to FC Dallas!
I like how they structured it like Europe leagues and it also has the USL teams including the new version of the NY Cosmos. This is an awesome free game! I agree on FC Dallas that's the closest MLS team to me I'm just right down I20
The devs spent about one hour per country to make the leagues, and there are so many leagues... All that for free! This guys deserve a game of the month or at least game of the week award!
Nice! I'm just surprised that Football Manager hasn't included MLS yet, not to mention USL or NASL. But even with the non-American structure to it, it's nice to see our clubs and colors. I definitely would pay for this if we had to, but I understand if they wanted to avoid any criticism for being so inspired-by. Have you gone to any FCD or international matches there in Frisco yet? It's a great stadium. Just met Drogba there post-match this past weekend.
EDIT: I don't see the "open source" I thought I had read. Anyway, I'd also pay for it if I had to. I'm having a blast with this game. Reminds me of the good old days where you didn't need a degree in button functions to play a Soccer game
Maybe I'm just not remembering KO 1 very well (and playing KO2 and Goal! later has replaced the memory of KO1), but I'm trying again with it on hard / full speed and I can't play it at all well.. Just can't pass the ball very well whereas dribbling seems much easier than kick off. It kicks on button down when dribbling (not on button release) so I can't trap turn. I'm really trying to like it, but I can't get past the fact it looks like Kick-Off, so my brain wants to play it like kick-off and it doesn't work
Thanks everybody for your Kind words. We as "Kick Off World" community need to say something important: We like to thanks the one and only Steve Screech, original KICK Off 2 GRAPHICS creator, also the man behind Player Manager series, he DID NOT COLLABORATED with us but he's fine with any fans using his graphics on fan games. Of-course the game can't be open source, because sprites were a Steve Screech creation. the code however is 100% original created by amateurish Player Manager fans that spent latest 3 years into created something we have waited for years: a spiritual successor of Player Manager released for Commodore Amiga in 1990 that run on almost any modern devices. As a lot of you noticed the graphics is not coming from Player Manager but mostly from Kick Off 2, we improved players with different hair/skin colour, and a bunch of new football pitches. We also made the game easier and more intuitive inspired by Sensible soccer with slower gameplay and easier ball control and plenty of options to set ball control and gameplay speed, intact you can also reproduce almost same kick off 2 gameplay with 100% speed and hard ball control but the game is set to work fine on touch screens so it'll never be 100% the same as the amiga version, it's somewhat easier, otherwise it would be impossible to play on smartphones. Like SWOS we have a huge database with 76 nations and more than 3000 teams with real names an Kit After scored a great goal you can always save your best replays jus hitting button "A" Soccer Player Manager 2016 is a true fan game made by true fans just for fun, not for profit so anybody is welcome to help us improving the game, just contact us on our socials: www.kickoffworld.net
The game is great, thanks a lot Kick Off World devs For all of those who have problems with saving replays (or are as dumb as me... ), the process is that WHILE WATCHING the replay, you press the A button and a window pops up to input the replay name and save it. If you press A while playing, it just turns audio on and off.
Try PC/Mac version with a proper joystick (Comp Pro or similar). I'm with you pn pressing vs. release of the button. In this case I epuld have thought that replicating sensi would make sense -> tap is pass and press is shoot. Anyhow - still mixed feelings about it.
I like what I see, but not what... I control. Sadly touch controls don't work for me, I have to wait MFi support.
Serious bug here: my archive com.kickoffworld.tspm2016.plist (where savegames and replays get saved) has got corrupted after saving several replays, and the game won't open unless I rename that archive so that it doesn't find it when booting. I've just twitted the dev and hopefully they'll reply. I can mail them the archive so that they check it, but meanwhile I recommend you don't save replays if you don't want to lose your savegames...
hey vbf, same problem here, i've twitted to devs this morning (your afternoon), and spoke with them about this issue... also if you delete that .plist file the game will come back to work fine, sadly that's the file that contains save data.
Did it happen after saving replays too? Mine was fine until I began saving replays. If the problem are the replays, I'd happily stop saving them. I don't want to begin a new career and have it get corrupted just by playing.
i don't think it's a matter of replays 'cause atm i have the game loading fine with two saved replays & 6 weeks in the season.
I have begun a new game, played one single match in which I saved 9 replays, saved the game, closed and killed tasks, and now it doesn't boot. On a second try, I've begun a new game, created 10 savegames with different names, exit the game, and now it doesn't boot either. So the problem relies 100% sure on the PLIST archive size. As long as you're playing with just one savegame and no replays saved, you'll be fine for sure. The more things you create in the PLIST archive (save replays, new savegames), the more you're at risk of the game not booting next time you open it. I hope the devs read this and fix it.
