I guess its possible, but I just don't believe he sold 666 game guide's every day in January. His business model just means that he doesn't have a lot of upfront costs. It doesn't necessarily get him the sale every two minutes 24/7 he needs to make $14k a month. Are his titles anywhere in the top seller's lists? We have seen quotes from developers on the lists that aren't making anywhere this kind of money. I suspect he is just engaging it a bit of creative writing for egoboo. Michael
They make crap games, and yet they always seem to sell well. It doesn't surprise me one bit to see them gaming the system.
This is getting off topic.. but he just started selling the game guides in August.. not sure if you read his post. His worst selling app is his most well-known here on TA the Fatty game. He makes his money from the dozens of general apps.
As I said, I suppose its possible, but I just looked over his list of apps, and there isn't one that I saw that I believe is selling a hundred copies a month, much less the total of 20,000 a month he would have to be selling to sustain those numbers. If he really does have that many sales, how come he only has a few reviews per app? Tens of thousands of sales for each app and only a dozen or two reviews at best? Michael
I released my game and spread the word amongst friends with the iphone. They all had to pay for it (I live in Canada, promo codes don't work here), so I assumed they'd give a somewhat honest review. I also asked them for an HONEST review. However, I notice that there were a couple of "THIS GAME IS AWESOME" type reviews, which makes me look like a big fake. I'm really hoping that was their honest assessment of the game.
Shelby Hunt 2009/ Sheb Inc. has shill reviews. Their TA username is: Shebinc http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=327306790&mt=8 They have 3 apps, all only reviewed by the same people, who have only reviewed their own games. All 5 stars. The game is crappy, I left a one star review explaining that. Avoid.
I got it for the OpenFeint achievements, thought I'd try it out. It's not good. Waste of $.99, and on top of that, there's not many OF points lol.
Super Art Software 26 Pages of Apps.. Winbugs All 49 ratings are 5 stars. http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=328716951&mt=8
Schiau Studios - Alchemize 42 of the 56 (5-star) reviewers in the store have only reviewed THIS PAID GAME.

Wow! You are so right--I'm glad you pointed that out. I think they are also voting for themselves in the "was this review helpful?" section, since so many of their shill 5-star reviews are "helpful." On the other hand, my one-star review--in which I talk about the game being unplayable on my 1st Gen Touch--is only helpful to 3 out of 11 readers, which I find very hard to believe. Most of my other reviews have a much higher "helpfulness" rating...
I gave this game a one as well. Where do you check to see if your review was helpful or not? I know that my review wasn't helpful but I thought the game was average and the pricing thing was getting on my nerves.
When you read each review, at the bottom of the review it says something like (in my case) "3 out of 11 customers found this review helpful." In the same section, you have the option to answer the question "did you find this review helpful?" So I guess all the sneaky, phony, shill Alchemize reviewers from Schiau Studios voted "no" for me so that my review won't be seen by any potential buyers. Oh, well. I tried...
