Blu Studios - Penguin Jump, Cloverfield each game has exactly 48 5 star ratings the moment they hit the store.
Didn't know this thread existed. Found it after creating this thread http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=22655
Don't think this has been said before but EA reviews their own games. Username: Gamer 123. Look for him.
Wow. That's pretty revealing. At least I know of one PR firm I will never use, and I'm waffling on whether or not I should support developers that do. Also, "snitker" is an anagram of "stinker" and I smell a rat.
Despicable. I posted the following in another thread, but since this is the official "shill" list, I'll just mention it here as well. Back in 2004, Sony/Columbia Pictures got nailed for shilling. We have a tendency, here, to forget or neglect that the App Store, while still new and "in its infancy", is a regular marketplace that should abide by the same rules of ethics and proper decorum as every other consumer/entertainment industry. Just because we can chat here with friendly developers running "one man shop" operations doesn't mean that we should relinquish our rights and expectations as consumers. I have extreme respect for developers, large and small. This is a brutal marketplace. But dishonesty earns no respect. These "PR" firms would be a joke if they weren't so insulting to our intelligence.
every one CHECK THIS OUT http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=318952617&mt=8 look at the reviews CLICK ON THE GUY NAME Prototype720 he trying to promote his games by review ohters app saying try this out also HTERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE HELPING TO!!! (LikeAHorse,SquintOrYoullMiss)
Nice review by "teamgeotrax": http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=327657792&mt=8 He's reviewed 17 of this developers guides....all with five star reviews. I highly doubt one guy goes off and buy every single one of these guides. Most of them have little reviews and he is on all of them. The developer is Ethan Productions.
id say over 50% of "t-ap-star"'s 5 star reviews and comments are fake.. And without me stating facts, you can obviously look and see by all the 5 star reviews with no other reviews, or only reviews of other "e-pict-ilt" or "es-pn" apps lol.. Its sad they even try and peg the bad reviews as being fake and from "tapulous". Just look yourself and decide.. call them out, they really deserve it for trying to rip off and scam customers.. something that really rubs me the wrong way.. http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=318908377&mt=8 also i didnt spell the names properly being i dont want to bring any SEO traffic to them and inadvertently help them make $ doing this shady sh!t
JuJuBeans - Oil Spill 15 5-star reviews All but a couple have only reviewed this game. One of the reviewers who reviewed the game also reviewed only one other game...Madden NFL 2010. His review for Madden 2010 - Titled "Oil Spill" "great app love madden I also found a great puzzle game Oil Spill if ou get a chance check it out"
That developer is a member here...you might remember one of his games "Don't be a Fatty"...remember the uproar over DLC etc.? I posted this in another thread, but apparently he's living the good life now making a ton of cash: http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/business-legal-app-store/26233-one-year-ago-i-quit-my-day-job.html
...but supposedly he's living the good life now making a tone of cash... It wouldn't be the first time someone has made stuff up on the internet. Just using his numbers, he would have to be selling more then 400 apps a day every day. Looking at what he is selling, I am somewhat skeptical. Michael
BTW he posted this months ago. His January payment from Apple was $14k http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=217492&postcount=1
I'm not sure if he's making stuff up or not, but based on his business model, I could see how it's possible. He found a way to work the system and make a profit...can't really blame him I guess. It is what it is. I'm not saying that I condone what he's doing or would follow a similar path...but $14k a month with relatively minimal effort is pretty tempting. I guess it's a good thing that most developers don't think along the same lines, or else the AppStore would be flooded. Or maybe they do and that's why it is. *shrug*
