why you're so serious, now you back to talk about game, not logical now? logic is logic... you can't argue just relax man
RTS? The Settlers is not about "RTS" part, it is about "economy" part: no food no mining, no mining no tools and weapons, no tools buildings, no buildings no food, no weapons no victory... and so on... it's nowhere near RTS-es like Warcraft or C&C where you can two/three types of resources: cash, oil, random mineral or wood here even one hammer or one log or one stone is a proper resource... ... and only since version 3 (and hence 4, so iPhone one) there is this "move your troops like in any RTS" part, where you have to directly order warriors and not only select enemy's castles to attack...
"fish -> fishing poles -> iron bar -> iron ore -> miner -> fish -> fishing poles" is not logical, it is an endless loop what a stubborn old man with no fun, I would walk away from him. if he's the first series fan, I can tell his age... sorry I'm the first time player for Settler, I don't feel enjoy it very much, period.
no, Settlers are far from realtime consider the time where ore is taken from mine to be forged, then iron bar to smithy, then weapon to recruit new warrior... and then add time from producing any kind of food and transporting it to miners (who refuse to work if they are hungry) while with any "normal" RTS a millisecond after acquiring any resource (say mineral, ore, oil or just cash) you can turn it into actual warrior/trooper/anything which is capable of killing... also there is no "hunger" in those classical RTS games - say any kind of peons/gatherers don't need any kind of food - they are just gathering resources as long as you order them not to, or resource is depleted or someone kills them... I've been playing The Settlers games since amiga, and not even once I considered them "RTS", however - it is true - that 3rd and 4th part have "RTS aspect" in them... but it is quite poorly implemented (in comparison to Warcraft, C&C or whatever), so it's just a unnecessary hassle for core Settlers fans, and "not enough" for core RTS fans...
Yea thats the whole trick on pricing. If it is too much no one buys and you make no money and if is to little you lose money. Its a meal at Sigue la Vaca more than 28 pesos
I suppose it's a matter of opinion and definition of RTS. If Settlers had to be placed in a specific category I can think of nothing but real time strategy. Nope, first time player of the "Settlers" series as well, though I do enjoy the strategy genre. EDIT: Also, it's not an endless loop, because of, as I explained, starting resources.
How is The Settlers not an RTS? RTS doesn't exclusively apply to war games. The game requires strategy, it's played in real time, it's a REAL TIME STRATEGY GAME!
By the way, endless loops... that's how stuff works in the real world too. You can't have one thing without the other supplying it, everything feeds everything else.
I don't think strategy gaming is for you now can you please move on and play your usual dose of fart apps or just play minigore!
so, im on the 4th roman mission where i got to build up resources and army then take over the vikings on the other side of the map. i built up the resources, created a huge army, took out their army...now what? i also took over like 1-2 guard towers (dont know how), and now...no clue what to do. every time they create a new soldier, i kill them. but still...no clue what to do.
You need to conquer and occupy every guard tower with at least one swordsman; this should be done automatically if you send some soldiers within the vicinity of each. You can destroy the tower after you occupy it though so you really only need to use one swordsman to conquer the whole lot (but be sure to bring a few archers along to neutralize the tower garrisons). As you occupy or destroy their towers their buildings will automatically be destroyed and you will gain the territory surrounding each tower, eventually winning.
Well I was new to the franchise and found it took some time to get used to, but once I got into it I found it was really fun and really deep gameplay wise. They've raised the price since I bought it
That's not what defines "RTS". Real time strategy - as opposed to Turn Based Strategy - simply means the enemy does their thing at the same time you do yours.
