Greetings from China! I'm a big fan of rogue-likes/lites, and this game sure has what I want: random loots, lots of monsters, endless dungeons...
Few suggestions: Sets of equipments with different set bonus attributes might be fun, and is it possible to bring in more weapon types, or even ranged weapons?
Looking forward to the future updates!

Within the Depths, anything is possible... there are secrets within that many seem to have not discovered.

I hate to be cryptic, I know I said I’d be as transparent as possible... but some things are best left to discover throughout exploration!

But! The game shall continue to grow. Who knows what’s next! ;)

    -Chase

PS. Quality of life improvement #1 patch should be coming today! Hang strong, Scrungeoneers.

    Scrungeon 1.2 update patch notes.

Chaos and malice brewed deep within the Scrungeon. Time and space collapsed as the populace averted their gaze. For too long now, the fickle plane that the malignant structure took purchase upon sat dormant, as the colors that light produced would fade away to nothingness.

Beyond it’s fading existence from the mortal coil, so too did portals erupt from the floor... and at times the void and it’s unwavering attempt to thwart the Scrungeoneers would prevail. These steps into the depths of madness would be unreachable by the laws of our physical realm. Shrill laughter, tauntingly echoed throughout the Scrungeon, as the Hollow Ones could rest another century.

But fear not, my faithful Scrungeon explorers! As the omnipotent being that I am, I, like many, make mistakes. Thankfully, though, we may all dust off the remnants of our failures and take up the saddle to try yet again. Fort Unity has become my realm of solitude as of late, not resting until the void could be pushed back even more, crushing the evil plans of the forgotten lords once and for all.

To combat the seemingly illogical entrance and exit of the Scrungeon from our dimension, I’ve opened safe passage to what I believe is a haven amongst the spelunking. I call it “The Inbetween.” This small plane exists only for a moment in time when all seems lost, caressing your wounds and grasping what material possessions you may have gathered on your quest. Abuse of this privilege may have dire consequences, so proceed with caution. The very fact that this has been opened to such as yourselves is almost beyond my powers. Take caution, but do not fear. To avert thy eyes is no longer punishable by an unavoidable death.

    As you were, Scrungeoneers.

    - C

    TL;DR
    - Player progress is saved when game is suspended / closed.
    - Controller updates for various UI tweaks.
    - Various minor bug fixes. Vague, yes, but accurate.
    - A new song added for “The Inbetween”, sit back and relax.
    - I love you.

I should be working on a development project... but I am reading these notes. Well done! You win this round.

    Haha! Sorry to interrupt, mate!

Also, I’ve noticed the update hasn’t arrived yet on iOS. Driving me crazy!

Apologies about the delay... it should be available literally any time now...

Just got F53 and the game shut down a few seconds later, and my record wasn’t updated to Game Center, my top 1 dream...

BTW there is a bug that the character can enter the wall, and that is why I took a screenshot before the game crush.

is that possible to get top 1 score (34,296,345) at F18? that score point is... I don’t know how to say it.

Maybe I will wait the new update out to try it again.

    :O

Whoa! I’ve never seen the wall glitch like that before!! That’s... well, I’ve gotta look into that. And I’m so sorry about the score and posting... the thing that drives me so crazy is there is an update... literally reviewed and awaiting release on iOS. It’s “ready for sale” according to Apple. And it hasn’t been all day. I’ve reached out and they say “sometimes it can be delayed”. That update is a fix for many things... including a crash fail safe that retains player progress INCLUDING SCORE. Ugh. I deeply apologize for this horrible timing and experience.

The 34mil score though. Apparently he got a 1300+ combo on a floor with many close nests and just kept grinding lol. If you’ve got the patience I suppose anything is possible.

    EXCEPT TIMELY UPDATE RELEASES.

Sorry. I’m a bit bitter, especially now knowing that your entire experience could have been so much better if it weren’t for this delayed update.

It’s been like this since around 3:30pm EST.

I hope you don’t give in to the powers of the void. The Scrungeon is a fickle beast at times and I assure you, this update and more to come will only make the experience even better.

So what is left to do after the 4th boss? I hit floor 51 and only died cause I wanted the hishscore mark and it’s late.

I had 4 shields, 3 spike balls, and 2 eyes. Super upgraded and a red soul spewer.

It didn’t even have to attack anymore, I just walked around into things.

Go for the high score! Man from the beta everyone had so much trouble with the boss I kind of dialed things back a bit. I may have to rebalance for future players.

Right now my aim is to add more content including more items, monsters, bosses challenges etc. I’m tackling the main dev bug fixes before hand... which I wish would just launch already...

Part of me is like “damn everyone is way better than I thought at this” and the other part of me is like “I’m happy people are crushing this game” haha.

The Scrungeon Depths will continue to evolve.

Edit: I’ve also noticed as of right now the leaderboards haven’t been updating. I wonder if there’s a hang up until this update comes out. Like 1.1.1 isn’t reporting or something. Very curious.

Hahaha!! Stable though, otherwise, yes?? I’d rather people gain millions of points with a stable game than suffer through horrendous glitches that break the experience!

Bought again! This game is almost perfect. One more request. Can you make the equip and attack button customizable? I'm playing on a tablet, and my thumb is cramping up because I'm stretching it to reach the buttons at the bottom of the tablet. Anyway, thanks for your dedication and hard work in making this game great.

Oh I’m so glad my friend!! Thank YOU for pushing me off my ass and getting me to problem solve and for that, the entire community should love you. The game has gone leaps and bounds since launch already.

Everyone on this forum has been indispensable.

That being said... I’m currently hard at work on the first big content pack update. I don’t have a timeline or release window... but I have a handy checklist of feedback, requests and suggestions (adding this suggestion to the list) as well as my own little tricks. I really think you are all going to like what’s coming.

If no one played Scrungeon, we’d never get to see what the deepest of the Depths hold... it’s gonna be even more insane.

I’m super excited man. You’re all amazing.

An opposite request: would it be possible to customize the d-pad to be in a fixed position? Sometimes, it feels like my tap/press is not catching the floating d-pad. Another option: pro swipe a la Wayward Souls?

OoOoooh I haven’t considered locked analog stick location or swipes. I’ll definitely start testing that out! Wouldn’t be a hard thing to make into a toggle or something lol.

Now, I’m going to be working on this larger update for some time. I believe the game’s state is stable and thanks to the progress saving being fixed, I can focus more on content and end game “things.”

I’ll have more to announce in the coming week/s, but I’m hoping to have this out by early to mid December.

Carry on Scrungeoneers! The Depths know no mercy!

Buying now ! Loving this kind of games but the support and involvement of the developer alone is enough reason for me to support him.

Ahh thank you so much man! I'm glad you enjoy the game. I'm currently hard at work at more content for all those end game Scrungeoneers that have obliterated the Hollow Ones. I've got plans and challenges coming your way. So be sure to check back! I don't want to spoil too much, but know that every update going forward will be free for all players. Consider it like an "unlock" because you all mastered the content, you unlocked this stuff coming for everyone. The community shall build the Scrungeon to unimaginable levels of madness.

Hoping to have a pretty dope gift for you all before Christmas!

    The Scrungeon Depths 2.0

Look, I know players who have conquered the Scrungeon think they’ve seen it all. That there’s no more surprises. I’m here to tell you a little bit about what I’ve got in store for the next content update:

New weapons: obviously. But what they do... you’ll have to wait and see.

Revamped bosses: defeated the four Hollow Ones, eh? Well, they won’t be dead for long... and you’ll have to muster up all your strength and new gear to defeat them.

New enemies: thought you’ve seen them all? There’s more monsters than ever seeking your delicious flesh.

A DOG BONE RELIC: because I want my bulldog to be in the game.

And more crazy things I may think up from now until launch.

I don’t know how to do this game dev thing professionally especially in terms of PR and all that... but I do know that whenever I’m playing a game and some big announcement is made then radio silence for weeks or months, I get antsy.

I don’t want you all to get antsy. Just know there’s more chaos to face... coming soon!
