    3.3 Still crashing for me

    Hi there,
After eagerly awaiting 3.3, my quest still crashes on load. It died in 3.0 or 3.1 after getting the silvergirl robe. In trying to load the game it goes to the title screen then exits. Same with 3.3. It works if I run Lukomorye stand alone, but that makes it MUCH tougher.

While I'm at it...where do I find repair hammers or a blacksmith in the beginning of Lukomorye?!? My AC and damage are both way down, and no options I can find to get them back up.

Have you tried resetting your phone? It definitely shouldn't crash on startup. If it still crashes after you have reset your phone, could you please send us your crash logs? Here is how:

Whenever you synchronize your iPhone or iPod Touch, all the crash logs are transferred to your computer. Here are their locations:

    • Mac OS X : ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>
    • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/<DEVICE_NAME>
    • Windows Vista: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>

The log file names start with "TheQuest" and have the extension “crash”.

Will it ever be possible to sell quest items such as Silvergirl's robe?

No, quest items are unsellable to prevent people selling them before they complete the associated quest. I guess they could become sellable after the quest is completed, but that would need too much work, The Quest wasn't designed that way.

Just drop them if you don't need them anymore.

    Crashing 3.3

    Hi there,
I reset the phone and it still crashes. I sent the log files to your general redshift address, hopefully you got them.

Is there some way to reinstall the app without losing my saved character data? Would a hard reset do that?

    Quest Developer Requests

    Hey!

I'm new to the forum, but not to Redshift; I've been loving their games since at least the Palm Legacy days (and, wasn't there something before that -- my memory is fuzzy).

Anyway, I love (love!) the Quest. Much much fun. But, that doesn't stop me from having a couple of requests:

    1. Better Mapping
This is the big one for me. The map screen seems to be missing so many things:
    a. Since it uses a red arrow for character location, if you're on top of a store's sign, your location essentially disappears. Could you guys use the blue arrow instead?
    b. In a forest, it's not possible to tell the difference between a passable tree, an impassable tree, and a stump.
    c. You can't see roads/paths on the map.
    d. etc.
Is it possible to improve the display of the map?

    2. Rain Control
I didn't know how to summarize this exactly, but: if you're outside and it's raining, it's raining on you -- even when you're under cover (think the Inn in Vastares, or the entrance at Barren Peak). It really distracts from the coolness that is the rain. Is it possible to have rain that doesn't penetrate the roof?

Thanks for such a great game!

Well, we are happy you enjoy our games and especially The Quest. :)

However, in the future we'll only change the game to correct bugs or add really easy to do things.

We have only two members and I'm the only one who does any programming. And someone has to work on our future games too. :D

Editing my posts to make sure not to scare anyone away from this game. The crashing issue resolved itself so there are no problems. The Quest Is the best and far better than undercroft in my opinion.

This strongly suggests that the problem is with your device and not with the game. The expansion apps are separate apps, nothing which the main game does should in any way cause them to not start (Apple makes it sure). Have you tried to reset your device?

Yes, in HOLV. Give me a list if you like. Silvergirl's Robe is already on it. There is already an option in HOLIII to trade a few things.

Donner: that's nice to hear! As for Undercroft, I just checked its forum at this site and I really can't understand why there are so much 'debate' there about which game is the better... It's totally useless to compare these games to each other, they're different types of the same genre. Yes, we also loved the 'Dungeon Master' era two decades ago and we made an RPG called Legacy back in 2003 with the same style - it was The Quest's first chapter (The Quest was named 'Legacy 2' when it first came out for the PDA market). It had the same party-based system and the linear 'dungeon, forest, again dungeon' gameplay. (BTW, Legacy partly inspired Undercroft too, as the authors have said several years ago. : ) All in all, it was a pretty simple and fun game. But then we thought we need to make a better, freer, more complex, really 'hardcore' RPG, so we developed The Quest.
There were some conversations here at Redshift to port Legacy to the iPhone too, but then we thought it would be too oldschool. (Yep, even more oldschool than The Quest. : ) But I still miss that cool party-based system, so our following RPG will have both games' best elements, that's for sure.
Anyway, both types have their own advantages and disadvantages, personally I equally love them both, so please let's have peace at last, dear oldschool RPG lovers. : ) The iPhone market is so huge, there is enough place for both games.

    Fire and Ice question

Is this an ok place to ask? I think I need more persuasion skill to get the Mayor to agree to the festival. Is that right and if so how many?

Actually that would be Friedrich Nietsche, some 60 or so years before Gov. Arnie was born.

From the look of it, I'm glad I took a break from RPGing and got into tower defense for a while (easier to pick up for just a few minutes rather than hours). Glad everything is fixed now.

Just one question, where is everything on Treasure Island/Unknown Island/in Unknown Cave? So far all I've gotten is a few eyes and a cyclops that dropped a red skull.

Edit: ok, got into the Pyramid of Ghula but can't get to the key behind the green force wall.

Thanks for the clarification. It's good to know that like minds think alike. : ) Of course for cats, we have 9 shots at not being killed so we are very strong. : )

I haven't had a chance to play the update but there are a lot of people at my site that have. : ) And maybe you can get an answer here.
