@hilko - I'm sure that you will have lots of fun playing The Quest. And I'm sure that it will be taking up a lot of your spare time. Did you ever play the early Might and Magic games? That is what this game reminds me of. Except a single character party instead of multi character party.
Well, the Islands of Ice and Fire is the only expansion we (Redshift) have created. There are other expansions created by third parties, and there is a possibility we'll release some of them, but as things now stand, not very likely. However we are planning to release a new game based on the Quest engine (and placed in the Quest universe). So in a sense, it will be a new "expansion". But it will take much more than a month. The expansion was created in 3 months, and the new game will take at least that much time.
Wow, these are fabulous news! Will it perchance feature a party or will it be single-character like the Quest?
It will be single character, just like the Quest. In fact we do not plan on any change in gameplay mechanics, just a new story, places, npc-s, quests, etc. Of course some little changes might creep in, but nothing major.
I just hope Redshift will also release Legacy for the iPhone. When you can play as a team of characters it gives you more options in term of replayability in my opinion. Cheers, f.
I wonder - would it be impossible/impractical to port Legacy into the Quest engine? I adore the Quest, but I'd really like some more tactical combat, which is easier to design with a party than with a single character.
We will not release Legacy for the iPhone, mainly because the programmer who created it has left us a long time ago, and we don't have the source code. Also to "recreate" Legacy in the Quest engine would take too much effort for too little results. We will create an all new RPG instead. (I mean, apart from the aforementioned new Quest adventure.) It will be designed from the ground up for the iPhone.
Hmm, here is a very cool high resolution video review for The Quest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ0SY1rYU_8 : )
I know people have probably moved on to the sequel, but just incase anyone knows: In the final battle, there are two rooms on the west that don't seem attached to anything. Are they accessible? If so, how? I get the "battle music" when I walk in spaces near those rooms, so there are probably monsters in there. Thanks.
umm expansion totally rocks. Made a great game even better!! Go buy it u bums it's like 3 or 4 bucks. You spend more on a chi latte from starbucks.. Anyways great work on the expansion! I do have a couple places in stuck at. First is the silver peak cave, never figured out how to get to the middle section. I've flipped all levers up and them down dunno. Secondly how to you get to Thule in the expansion anyone know yet? Last thing, what is the best way to make gold on this game besides finding loot, I don't have much alchemy seeing as I'm a thief and stealing only gets u so much. Ty in advance for the help, you can PM me so we don't ruin it for the others. Great game team redshift!
@Fire4Effect - I'll send you a PM. EDIT- I haven't been able to play the expansion yet. Maybe someone else can offer some advice on how to reach Thule.
I'm not sure I remember exactly. The end seemed like one great big endurance test when I think back on it now! Highlight for possible spoiler:I have a vague memory of walls disappearing in the final battles and additional monsters emerging. But I'm not sure as the end was one big battle that seemed to go on forever! Not sure if that helps you or not!
There is a hollow tree that will take you through a portal, but you need a key to open the gate on the other side. I for one haven't been able to locate the key
You get the key from the Governor in castle of Eldfell alongside the quest to find out whats going on Thule.
King Fire Bird Feathers Btw, was anyone able to figure out how/where to get the feathers for the tailor in Eldfell? The quest has to be solved within a week so i thought better get to it. I missed the deadline for the kill the demon in Minthira cemetery already.
You have to kill the 'firebirds' (I think that's what they're called), they drop the feathers. There is a hunter near the lava fields that will sell you one for around $250 gold if you can't find enough of the birds...
if you go into the fire cave (sulphur peak east southern tip enterance or eastern...through lava into the mountain where you have to go anyhow) there are plenty of firebirds to kill). I finished the quest for the armorer the hard way by trapsing all over and when I hit the fire cave I realized how much time I could have saved, not to mention stepping on all those lava bubbles while looking.
