Neophyte- I had a bit of trouble with that action myself. Touch the cubbyhole shelf (where goodies are normally found). This should bring up an empty inventory screen (indicating there is nothing on the shelf), there should be a set of arrows at the bottom of the screen. Chose the one pointing downward, and this will bring up your inventory of items. Select the Gold Flower and then click the downward arrow again to place it upon the shelf.

Mmh that's really strange cause I killed every enemy down below...but Thurm still tells me to kill the AMAZONS...
BUT there were just ROUGES...so somehing seems to be wrong...
I also freed the old man down there...so I guess I'm in the right place...

And another question: do the flowers and everything else grow again!?

Mmh...but the one with the bones is the Dungeon of Blood / Pit of Blood...
And the one without bones is the Amazon cave...
The strange thing is...the movement still slows down as if there is some sort of invisible enemy I can't attack...
    :( SUCKS cause I can't finish this quest...=/ HEEELP

I didn't meet Sylon's character. :( The first time I was in the other dimension I saw the Easter Egg, but was killed shortly after. I reloaded and tried again but just jumped straight into the battle and forgot to look for the Easter Egg. I'll have to do it on my second run through as an evil character! Then I can meet Sylon's character.

I'm finding the game harder to play as an evil character. I want to do the quests and get the maximum rewards (particularly early in the game), but this increases my fame. So I then pick pockets and break into houses and attack the citizens, but I'm not sure if this decreases my fame as well as increasing my crime level?

    Flip,

I feel your pain. The same thing happened to me and the Thurm quest can't be finished. Sylon says they've never heard of this bug before, so it's "good" that someone else has encountered the same issue. It may help to get them motivated to solve it.

Wow I finally got it to work, thanks! :)

Yeah I really hope you guys can pull it off somehow. I'm sure an import/export feature will be considered a luxury by many, especially the hardcore RPG enthusiasts which I'm assuming comprises a very significant portion of your market. It's a deep, detailed kind of game where people invest a lot of their time trying to build up their characters. So I'm thinking such a feature might really add to the longevity and resiliency of your game. Either way, I'm excited to see how things will develop from here onwards. Keep up the great work!

    regarding the transportation of characters, I might direct your attention to ShapeWriter free/pro;

they have some mechanism when you upgrade to Pro wherein Free exports your notes to Pro. probably through a Safari call with a proprietary prefix to :// like swp://usr/bin/notes.whatever or whatever (no idea of iphone filesystem), with safari set to launch shapewriter pro for that sort of link. or maybe that would never work...you could just ask them how they do it :p

I know iThoughts captures mm:// links from safari, so that's what gave me the inspiration for that method

I would imagine the dev API updates coming with 3.0 have made the expansion possibilities a lot better.

Flip: Rogues and Amazons are two different type of monsters in two different caves... Are you sure you killed the Amazon girls?
As for the flowers: no, the flowers will not grow again. Monsters are growing after one week. : )

neophyte: I really can't do anything with that, sorry - without a saved game I can't even imagine what should be the problem. Thousands of players completed this quest without any problems so I don't know what should happen with 1 or 2 players. I really tried to imagine it but can't. Probably an amazon jumped into a wall? But how? We truly never had a problem like this.

snow mani: you also can decrease your fame with completing some quests in the 'wrong' way.

smirnoffsky, writingsama, Almy: thanks, we'll check them out! I think we'll be able to release the mission pack as a real mission pack (so not as an independent game) and I hope we'll solve the character transport trick too. : )

Just wanted to say that I have tested the wanted status of my character and yes, the guards don't want anything from her. I _did_ test out a prison, but thought that I reloaded after that. Apparently not. My bad and my poor stats!

Re: Thurm's quest, it worked for me, though I wonder what the outcome would have been if I accepted the other offer ;).

    A couple of questions:

How do I erase obsolete "mark" locations of the "mark and recall" spell combo?

And is there a way to quickly change between the bow and sword & shield? If there is not, it would be a worthwhile change. I like how one can conveniently change between weapon and magic use, this should be similar.

I understand that, but don't you get less XP for a completed quest if you complete it the "wrong" way? While a couple of thousand XP points don't matter later in the game, they make a big difference early in the game.

although it's true that the 3.0 SDK provides in-game functionality for paid expansions, 3.0 isn't supposed to go public until summer at the earliest. spring just began, so thats >3 months away. I assume they hope to get the expansion out before then :p

Sylon, it is possible to deliver the expansion as a free update to the main Quest, but it is not "enabled." then, have people "download the expansion," which is really just a program that runs to tell the main Quest game that you've paid for and downloaded the expansion (perhaps through a safari hack like I mentioned), so it should activate it. people could then delete the second program from their phone, and you wouldn't have to worry about migrating characters/etc. alternately, the program they download could generate a code based on something device-specific such as its serial number, that the user then enters into their Quest game to unlock it.

and before you worry about how easy that might make to "crack" the expansion, esp. with your long history of being a developer for palm and wm, just remember, companies spend tens of thousands of dollars on things like StarForce and that's often cracked before a game is released. the #1 rule is that if a hacker/cracker has physicial access, the system should be considered compromised; this has always proven true. this is one of my areas of expertise (security, not so much the other side). so don't worry too much about it, a "weak-ish" system will be cracked the same as a "strong" one will, and people who will pay will pay and those who won't, won't, regardless. just make it easy for those who will pay, instead of penalizing them, and offer good content for the money. that's the best you can do.

remember, crackers are often motivated by (a) the challenge and (b) the sense of gratitude from pirates that use their work, though (c) there's a valid point for cracking when DRM encumbers people who buy it (i.e. you must have the CD in the drive to play! or a centralized activation server that goes down a few years later and now nobody can play anymore...) that a crack makes easier (i.e. you no longer need the CD! you can play the game after the server goes down!). spending 8 months developing DRM will get you nowhere; it WILL be cracked, because the crackers have full control over their ipods/access to the executables. by rule #1 alone, which has proven true time and time again, it will get cracked anyway, you'll just be eating up profits and pissing off loyal fans.

in fact, here is a simplified example of how the second program could work:

the Quest should register a URL handler with safari, that is device-specific i.e. based on the serial number + "magic number" for specific expansions (simple example MD5 hash it and take the first 16 characters of the BASE64 encoding of the hash output), then the expansion program will just call a URL with the same code generated the same way, i.e. call_safari_externally("MRTSLPWXCVTOPYUI://whatever"); which will then launch the Quest (not sure what data is passed to it, the URL or what was at the URL or what, not too familiar with the SDK, but iThoughts manages to fetch a mindmap file this way with mm://), but then the Quest will know.

Isilel: hmmm, I don't know whether it's possible to erase mark spots in the game or not... Probably not. So choose them wisely. : )
No, there is no way to quickly change between the weapons. We can write this on our todo list but this fix will not happen in the near future - other tasks are more important now. : )

snow mani: mostly you can get Xps for killing monsters, so usually it doesn't matter how do you complete a quest....

writingsama: thanks for the detailed info - I think our coder finally found some way to solve all these problems, and it's similar to yours! So yes, everything will be OK. Even the 'character transport'. : )

I am glad that I restarted with another character, then! Being used to The Elder Scrolls games, I just plopped them where and when convenient. But seriously, it needs to be done. By the time the expansion rolls on we'll have a looong list of useless anchors otherwise and walking back and forth once plants and enemies are gone isn't particularly exciting.

Please, do and keep it in mind for any future RPG projects, too. You don't want small control oversights hindering people's enjoyment.

Great, great news! Well, I have a ways to go yet, but it will be very pleasant to be able to jump into the expansion immediately/soon after finishing the main game.

Okay, okay, but relax, Isilel! Please don't think that everything you mention is 'needs to be done', just because you get used to something in Elder Scrolls or in any other game. : ) It's great that you have some ideas but we can't do everybody's all ideas, we can't patch and patch the game endlessly... We collect the ideas and fix the best ones for the following version.

BTW, now I remember how the Mark+Recall works: you can't mark too many spots because the number of them depends on your Intelligence. (It's in the game's Manual too.) So when you reach the limit, you can overwrite the old, currently useless ones with a new one. So you can change/refresh them at any time.
I think this method is pretty usable too. : )

I was also wondering about the mark+recall spells so it's good to hear that I can eventually overwrite my markers when the time comes. I'm a fan of Elder Scrolls, Lands of Lore, Ultima Underworld, and Might & Magic (dunno why I never played Eye of the Beholder though). "The Quest" reminds me a lot of all those mentioned, so perhaps it's the nostalgia that your game brings that makes people expect the same kind of standards and functions. They are comparing it to the all-time RPG greats which is a good thing, thus, the standard of criticisms are also up a notch. Same reason why I'm concerned about the expansions as well as the import/export capabilities :)

Well, if I knew that they'd be replaced automatically when the limit is reached, I wouldn't have brought it up. IIRC this is not in the manual, just about the limit- and that could have meant that I'd be stuck with useless teleport anchors.

I also don't understand why you are put out by my comments and suggestions - people offer them about the games they like all the time. I know that they can't be implemented immediately and most never will be. I'd have thought that you'd be glad that somebody cares enough, but YMMV.

Just got this game and I have to say...it's hard to get into. I've never played any of the elder scrolls or anything, but I do love a solid RPG. This kinda reminds me of Shining the holy ark, with the FP view. I've walked around for an hour or so, and fought some skeletons, but can't seem to find my way yet.

Also I selected undead type for my character however when I look at spells it tells me I cannot use undead magic because I'm not undead. Anybody know what that means?
