Buy and then double tap the mortar in your inventory ;)

    The 1.2 update is out.

    Question about saved game files

Does anyone know if you have saved game files for one character, and start a new game with a new character, will you lose the old saved games with the original character? This is of course assuming I don't save over one of the old save slots.

Save games only go away if you explicitly overwrite them (or do something silly like hard reset your device). The only "game" that will get replaced is the autosave that occurs when you exit the game.

Why doesn't v1.2 appear for me?

And also where is the innkeeper, I need to find him for a quest.

EDIT: Never mind found the innkeeper, still need help updating to 1.2 though.

The innkeeper is in the Inn :) Seriously, though, if you're in Matras, the Inn is the big building in the northeast corner of the village.

If you just got the game you may already have the new version.

I just finished "The Quest", and I feel that its probably the best $5.99 I've spent on a Itouch game (or a game on any platform, for that matter.) The rich complex storyline really drew me in, and I appreciated the marvelous touches of humor as well as the darker more "mature" themes within the game. For anyone on the fence, I highly recommend this game. It took me about fifty hours to complete the game (although if you are an experienced RPGer your mileage may vary), and provided me with more of a challenge than any game I have thus far played on the Itouch. Well done, Sylon and the rest of the Redshift Team. Is there any possibility of a "Legacy" port?

Sylon already said on page 8 of this thread:
"if we'll get there we'll port our other RPG to iPhone too, Legacy, which had the classic party-based system. (Just it's too old now and needs at least 6 months of work for a full remake, including a better graphic engine.)"

    hey,

new to the forum. superfluously, i wanted to say how damned fantastic this game is. particularly thanks to sylon/redshift for posting here and helping everyone out, and for keeping up with updates, responding to feedback, etc.

i can't wait for the expansion! although i hope it will allow you to continue on with your original character.

    egeszegere! (right? probably not.)

Isilel: I have good news for you, even if it's too late. : ) We'll release a demo version from the game. Within a few weeks it will be out.
The step-by-step movement will remain the same, sorry - the whole game and its engine was designed like that, it would be too much work to change that. But anyway, it's a hardcore RPG, not an action game. : )
We'll polish the controls again a little, mostly in landscape mode, but I think in portrait it's OK.

mcwkey: don't be angry. : ) The 1.2 version should run OK, it's not the game's fault. We didn't get any other commentaries/reports about this.

pennydreadful: thanks! Legacy's porting will depend on many things, including The Quest's success. But if we'll decide not to make this port, we'll make a similar game to Legacy, with a party-based system, and of course with a much better graphic engine, utilizing iPhone's real abilities.

nowhereroad: properly it would say: egészségedre! (If you wanted to say 'cheerio' or 'cheers' or something similar. : )

Well, I am enjoying the full game thoroughly, so no harm, no foul. But then, I am an RPG fan. I just want for more people to try the game, since I wish to be able to buy the expansion and other games from Redshift for my Touch ;). After all, along with PuzzleQuest and perhaps RogueTouch, this is the only quality RPG on the platform. And the former 2 are really hybrids.

Try to make the demo really stable and bug-free, though, so that it'd make a good first impression and hopefully catapult The Quest up the rankings :).

I didn't mean that I wanted RT combat, turn-based is just great, I only wanted true continuous movement. I think that Wizardry 8 on the PC had this combination and it worked quite well. Maybe in a future project?

I also have 2 other suggestions for improvement:

    1. Autosave. If it is possible to make it work discreetly, without interrupting the gameplay, I'd have liked the game to autosave every 10 minutes or so, not just on quitting. The manual save slots should stay too, of course.

    2. I would have liked the detailed manual of the game to be added to every PC's inventory, in an in-game "book" form. The player shouldn't have to leave the game to check some rules, etc. For instance, the spellbooks don't say to which School a given spell belongs and it is very much a factor for purchasing them, etc. I also didn't know that any attribute or skill can only be increased by 2 points per level. Etc.

Re: Legacy, does it really need a graphical update that much? It is an old-school RPG, so it's draw isn't going to be graphics in any case. It is a slippery slope, with graphics. They tend to displace gameplay and world-building detail, if Devs concentrate on them too much... :(.

    Hey everyone...still playing the demo...
I have a problem with the "Thurm's Quest for the Animals"-Quest...somehow I can't finish it. I killed all the Rogue's in the cave. Some pages ago I read about someone having the same problem...
If I'm in the cave the movement slows down, as if there was an enemy left...is this a bug!?

Update is good but I have a question!

I like the changes made in the latest update. Particularly how it shows the spell points required for each spell and the mana you have left. However, this does prompt a question. I keep getting ambushed by shamans, blood shamans and ancient shamans. To say nothing of the witches, etc around Mithria. They are pretty tough and I have been struggling against them. I've tried a number of different strategies. I've enchanted items to offer magic protection and I am using them as much as possible. I've been also been investing all my skill points in Intelligence to increase my mana and the effectiveness of the Magical Immunity spell. And I noticed that the mana cost of this spell has actually been going up as my Intelligence has increased. It was at 74 then it went up to 79 and now it is at 80. Would this be correct? Is the mana cost meant to increase as my Intelligence increases?

    v1.2

In the German iTunes store i saw a complaint about stability issues with the latest version. Does anyone else experience similar things? I am eager to update for the new features but I just cannot by any means afford to not have this little baby running smoothly on my device...
    Thanks.

I don't know for sure but I suppose that she spell damage/effect grow with your inteligence so at the same time the mana cost increase.
