    Hey Sylon!
    Thanks again for answering!

Actually I've got a 3G iPhone (non jailbroken).
Looks like my speed is standard, as BadSanta confirmed from the YouTube video... well, it must be a matter of taste indeed!

Do you happen to be testing on a 2G iPod Touch? Because those device have a faster CPU..

    Regards!
    Rasty.-

    Judge Hangrynyr

Hehehe, I was arrested and accused of murder and had a "trial" before Judge Hangrynyr. Very clever and very funny! But the first time I didn't have enough funds and failed. However, with a name like Hangrynyr I fully expected to be hung. :D

rasty: yep, we have a 2G iPod Touch here. Anyway, we'll try to do our best to accelerate the game in some of the following versions, that's for sure - even the speed of turning. : ) So hang on! Yesterday we sent a new version (1.2) to Apple so we can't put anything more in it, but will do it later, I promise. : )

nightbeaver: did you have a homemade potion? Because if yes, probably that was the problem - if you give him an 'official' potion (which you can buy in the shops) it should be OK.

I just played this game for iPhone, after playing the Palm OS version years ago. I loved it all over again. I really hope the expansions or other Redshift games come out too.

I even got completely stuck on some of the quests, and embarrassingly, when I Googled, I found that I had got stuck at the same points the first time round on Palm and had even posted questions about it. Talk about amnesia ;)

The only time I found the game "slowed" was when something was stalking me, so it was quite useful as an alert. Usually keeping the forward arrow pressed made me move forward in a smooth line. When a monster was around, it would stagger, screen by screen.

    Xgamer1224:

    Here they goes:
    - the game now detects a corrupt autosave and skips loading it
    - less frequent raining and for shorter times
    - the spellcasting dialog shows the spell point cost of spells and your
    current spell points
    - other aesthetic and usability tweaks on the spellcasting and potion
    drinking dialogs
    - the most important negative status effects are now shown on the 3D
view by icons (can be turned off in the settings) (the description of
the icons is in the updated manual)
    - the game now remembers the last selected player information screen

    On our todo list:
    - faster movement/turning speed. : )
    - the town portal spell should bring you only to cities/villages you already visited before
    - unlimited storing places at the inns (which means for some money you can use the innkeepers' backroom for storing items forever)
    - fixing some quest-related bugs and script errors
    - and of course more...

    Istara: welcome here! : )

Can one of you kind folks make an in-game video and put it on Youtube? I am kind of surprised that none of the "review" sites (appvee, slide to play, toucharcade) have done a "video review" of this App with actual gameplay footage.

I can't do it for the next two days due to a limitation of bandwidth of my connection. However if nobody will do it before Friday I'll make and upload a video of gameplay.

Excellent news. The improvements, particularly the changes to the spellcasting dialog to show both the spell point cost your current spell points, and showing the most important negative status effects on the 3D screen, are two changes that will make a big improvement on an already great game. And your to do list looks very good as well!

This is a great game. Excellent value for money. I'm having a fun time playing and I'm already looking forward to playing through again. I'm currently playing a character with a good alignment. Next time I'll play to be pure evil...

I'm very excited about this as well. The Quest is one of the best games I have played on my ipod touch and is a must IMHO for anyone even remotely into RPG/Adventure games.

I really enjoy playing it :)

BadSanta: the raining will be shorter because many people had problems with raining in the game all the time. : )

snow mani: I think I can make the 'unlimited backroom storage places' because it doesn't need programming, while I'm not sure about the town portal spell's fix - it's a more complex problem. We'll see what can we do.

    CandyNJ66: happy gaming!

BTW, I just noticed that we have at last a detailed review about The Quest, here it goes for those who still don't have enough info about the game:

I'm wanting to move from my 1G Touch to my new iPhone but I'm worried about losing my saves. Does anyone know if iTunes also syncs Quest savegames when syncing The Quest app to the library?

I just bought this game and it's good, I just think the combat could be better. For example when i'm running up towards an archer, i have no option but to take all the hits and when I get there she backs up and fires which does her no good but just wastes time because it's turn based. Maybe when you get close to archers they could pull out daggers or something.

It would be great to see some sort of parry/dodge system, where you tap at the right time and block/dodge an attack. Though i've only fought like 10 enemies so far so I might be missing something :).

FlameCum: sorry but we simply don't know it for sure... All we know is if you make a backup it will be saved. But we don't know whether you'll be able to 'reload' this to a new device or not... Give it a try. : )

Ph4ntom4: you automatically block all attacks (even the ranged ones) with your shield at any time, if you have one in your hand. Of course if you increase your block skill (and get a better shield) this defence will be higher and higher, sometimes you'll be able to block the whole damage.

Looks like it worked! I did a full backup in iTunes then restored that backup to the new phone. All savegames and settings intact!

Also, I just did a little test. If you do a full sync in iTunes, remove the device and then plug it back in without doing anything, iTunes won't do a backup. But if you sync, remove the device, and then play some Quest (or any other app that saves), when you plug the device back into the USB, iTunes will automatically do a backup. I assume this is iTunes pulling all the data that's changed since the last sync (i.e. your autosave). You only have to choose the option of syncing Applications for this to happen automatically.

    Handy bit of information!

I was hoping to avoid posting this but I've got wartt and I can't find a healer anywhere. Are they marked on my map?

No one wants to talk to me and they keep telling me I'll die a slow and painful death.
