    I'm the programmer. :)

The Quest wasn't originally designed for the iPhone, and our other programmer (who programmed much of The Quest) has left us a long time ago. I was originally only responsible for the graphics engine (2D/3D). I ported the game to the iPhone and I worked a lot to make the game handle the "any time exit", but there it's very complicated and there was an oversight which resulted in this.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I've now fixed the problem.

But for now you'll have to reload an earlier save to get back on track, sorry. :(

An update (version 12.2) is under review by Apple right now, so I can't upload the fix right away. This means that it'll be released either as the next update (version 12.3) or with the new expansion being tested right now (version 13.0). Either way I think it'll happen only after the holiday season. Apple takes a really long time to approve anything.

    Much obliged!

So that means that even after the fix comes I still won't be able to complete that quest on my current save slot? If that's the case...is it really a big deal to just skip that quest? I will be losing about 4 hours of progress if I backtrack to my previous save slot. Ugh...shoulda thought to save in another slot before...darn.

Yes, that quest is uncompletable with that character, sorry.

But yes, you can skip it without problems. It's just one of many side quests. :)

Oh the poor farmer...oh well. The Quest and the expansions have plenty of side quests left for me to work on. :D

Actually, after much deliberation I decided to start a new character entirely, since I finally have all the gameplay figured out and figured I could customize a character better the second time around, and complete quests more efficiently, and also avoid collecting a gigantic lists of quests and rather work at solving them one at a time.

So far this plan is working out as I've gotten as many quests completed in about 1/3 of the time. ;) Also, I've changed from a Derth to a Rasvim. It's pretty amazing how much the interactions with NPCs change based on your race. It's also become apparent to me how much I prefer the kinds of quests that The Quest has, where the outcome, interactions and rewards change based on your decisions rather than being totally linear like every other iPhone RPG. I know everyone is talking about Aralon, and of course I picked it up too, but I'm surprised by how many people who want that kind of game seem to overlook The Quest. I will be very surprised if Aralon has the same kind of depth to it as far as how different the outcomes of side quests can be based on your decisions, yet still allowing you to complete the main quest.

Argimon and Old Shaman (who are characters in the game but also real people--they are both computer programmers by the way) play as Rasvim and from what they report they have more fun.

Rasvim with bows have even more fun from what Old Shaman reports.

Asteroids II is out--known as Attack from Asteroids. Enjoy. : )

By the way, in my humble opinion---the iphone/ipod/ipad is so awesome--there is room for a big bunch of programs. You can play this one for awhile, then that one--anything that gives you pleasure.

I think there's room for Aralon, the Quest, Angry Birds (now available in individual plush toys from your favorite plush toy provider-- : ), etc.)

Just enjoy them all but keep the Quest snuggly close to your heart if you like it. And enjoy the others too. : )

And, I have each of those games in a folder called favorites ;) But, Quest has been my most favorite since the PPC days. I just never had bought the expansions because the PPC as a platform was waning. And now I have most of the expansions!

I am quite enjoying the Rasvim. The vulnerability to magic is presenting a problem, but I enjoy the opportunity for strategy that this allows. If anyone has any tips for raising magical resistance, I am all ears, by the way.

I agree...but seeing all the attention Aralon has gotten, deservedly I'll add, it makes me wonder if people know what The Quest offers?

    Happy holidays Cat. :)

So I'm really trying to get into the quest because everyone says its amazing, I bought the quest gold. What's a good beginner character to start out with, is a certain class easier to get started with than another? Does anyone have any tips on getting started? Thanks.

I first started with a Derth, which seemed pretty good at the start because they automatically come with some good attack magic, but I don't know if they are good for higher levels because monsters' magical defense increases a lot apparently.

I decided to go with a Nogur Fighter. Anyway I have completed the bad air quest and one where I had to break into the inherited storage room. The governor or whatever told me to look into the smuggling operation down bye the docks but there's nothing there except for a ship captain that won't take me anywhere, what should I do? Any hints? Thanks!

Heheh, I just asked this question like two pages ago. You have to find the lever in the wall under the graveyard where near the cursed grave. If you hit the lever it will open a secret passageway. I know--I totally missed it my first time too. In fact I just left Matras without solving the side quest and played for about another 10 hours.

I've been up all night playing...I managed to get some good enchantments for my Rasvim to bring my magic defense up to about +13%, but those Shaman mobs still kick my butt. I guess I need to fortify with potions as well.

I'm glad you are getting into The Quest Osmiral. I think you will really like it. It's easily the deepest RPG for iOS, especially when you factor in all the expansions. It probably still would be even if you didn't.

The Quest is my favourite RPG on the iOS..it's the closest (together with Undercroft) game to Dungeon Master these days.
Now if someone would make a Dungeon Master game with new levels and puzzles..i'd be a happy chappy!

ps, yes, i've bought every addon to The Quest so far.

Man so far the quest has been pretty challenging (but that's what makes the best games fun!). I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now, I finally made it to vastras and I'm supposed to find the thieves guild but I really have no idea what to do or where to find them. I went to the cemetery cause some guy said that some people had felt like they were being watched so I assumed it was the thieves guild but I didn't find anything there. Although I did find an awesome make food spell!

Follow the old trope of "talk to everyone" and do some side quests. The side quests can be really involved and lots of fun, as well as get you some great loot. ;)

Also take your time visiting shops, and level up your persuade then talk to suspicious characters again to find out some secrets. Just don't do what I did when I first started playing--talking to everyone, taking every side quest and not completing them...that could lead you to feel really overwhelmed.

You find the thieves' guild by first doing the quest for the mysterious man of Phryn and finding the Thieves' transport in Lake of Freymore--Eastern Shore---then...you have to go to the inn in Port of Vastares and drink beer with the innkeeper Herahn until after midnight--as you leave the inn after that witching hour, the guild will scoop you up! : )

    Good times!!!
