The old Quest has been renamed to "The Quest Classic" and the updated one to "The Quest". This expansion is for the updated version. The old one will not receive any more expansions. (I know it's a little bit confusing to those who have bought the game as "The Quest HD", but it was even more confusing before, because on every other platform the updated game was always called "The Quest" and not "The Quest HD". Now it's consistent.)
So excited for a new expansion. And so soon!!! Question: I'm in the middle of I&F, so this expansion will be too easy for my lvl 20 character? What's best? Start a new game, play standalone or use my lvl 20 guy?
Thor's Hammer is designed for low level characters. Just start a new character. (And keep your existing character for Hero of Lukomorye )
We're busy porting our expansions to the Quest, which is essentially now the Quest HD. Luko I is finished. Should be available soon. Hope your character is strong. : ) Magic works well but magic is denied in some places, like Argimon's Dungeon so you are going to need a character with high armor class and who can use ranged weapons well. Drinking some kvass now and again helps fortify melee. : ) If you can't paralyze a monster with magic you're going to have to scratch your head and figure out how to defeat them. We are planning to stagger release of the HOLs and Celts, Asteroids, Mithril Hordes and other stuff so you have a chance to beef up your player if you need to and enjoy a separate story line with your character. We plan to release the Celts, Asteroids, Mithrils and other stuff as higher level games to start from Mithria. And continue the HOL story in between--so you get a chance to think about the story and what will happen next. I don't know if any of you played the HOLs but there was always a pause between the games coming out as you wondered what was going to happen to Silvergirl. etc. : ) If you'd rather have your character go to HOL II and HOLIII and HOLIV and HOLV with no break or chance to beef up and get stronger, please let me know asap. It will take me longer to work on the HOLs as they are old expansions and need work. For example the quest descriptions didn't give the name of the questgiver and where they're located so I have to figure all that stuff out and change all the descriptions. : ( I did it for HOLI and can do it for the others, but I'd appreciate a break in between by working on one of the more advanced expansions that already have good quest descriptions. I really had to struggle with that porting HOLI. If you have any thoughts about this, please let me know now before I start putting them in. : ) Thanks. HOLI is hard--recommend you play through Thor's Hammer with your higher level character first and beef up your player. You are going to want to run and hide sometimes. : ) I enjoyed being eaten alive in HOLI because it meant I had to use strategy. If you save after killing every monster, it helps. : )
For Luko I you might want to use your level 20 guy to go through Thor's Hammer to beef you up for Luko I--Luko I is recommended for level 23 and it is HARD. : ) I and my long time testers forgot how hard it is. As Argimon says in HOLI--Today is a good day to die, Quapla." : ) But if you want to start a new character--by all means do so. I know players who restarted the Quest base game with a monk-like character just to see if they could meet the challenges. They decided they would only use wooden equipment. : ) So there is always fun to be had. Easy or not, Thor's Hammer has a lot of quests and some new game play features--like the bounty. Happy questing.
