Seems like I lost all my progress. Playing on an iPod touch 5. Opened the game today and it started me from the beginning.
Hey, was this after you upgraded to the latest version, or you just randomly lost your progress?? No idea what could have happened if the latter. Did anything else on your phone change before you lost your progress?? Is your phone's harddrive full (making it unable to save)? PM me your device's IP address and how many coins you lost and I will send them back to you. Unfortunately I don't have a way of restoring artifacts or hearts. Edit: also please let me know what version of iOS you are using!
Unfortunately there's no cloud syncing/saving right now (maybe in the future? I've never dealt with that before).

Banner ads sometimes don't go away after leaving the starting area. Pausing the game, then pressing the home button and leaving the app suspended, then coming back results in the game unpausing. And then I've already walked several blocks in the direction I was facing, possibly into a trap. Furthermore, sound effects are disabled as if the game is still paused, but pausing and unpausing fixes that. Attached is a picture where I don't think it's possible to pass. I had to get on a log, then run across the gate before it rises and kills me. I died twice and gave up. Also, that ad is one that didn't go away after leaving the starting area; it happened again. iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.2
Hey Intendro, thanks for the feedback! Banner ads stay on screen from the moment they appear (when you die), until 45 seconds passes. So if they stay on screen for a short while after leaving the starting area that's just to avoid them appearing for too short of a time. The pause/home-screen/unpause bug has been fixed, although it won't appear until the update after the next one currently queued to avoid losing my place in the Apple approval queue for what is essentially a fairly minor bug. The Android version already has that issue fixed. As for the log/button issue, the next update (the one currently queued) includes a tweak where gate buttons are not generated so far away anymore. They still may appear across rivers, but hopefully close enough to avoid these types of situations. I'll be closely monitoring player feedback after the update goes live to make sure your situation does not re-occur In the meantime, you could try equipping the wand that auto-lowers gates, or the shoes that allow you to walk on water.
Oh. It looked odd, but that makes sense. Okay. The game's been fun so far. ...Oh, there was one more thing. The chandeliers on the ceiling partially obstruct my vision, but only with the overhead view. Is that supposed to happen?
Oh hey, the update to make the camera perspective change to a normal top-down makes this game playable. Yay!
OFF: Tyson Ibele? Are you the guy who created one of the best short film I know?https://youtu.be/gq9U7wb-pDo
Isn't there a library you can put into your game that will keep track of all that stuff in the back ground for you? You did a brilliant job with this game it grabs the attention. I have a question, I've asked lots of devs this and it's way cool if you don't answer or send me the answer in a PM (which is better for safety sake). Anyway, what did you make this in? If I may ask? Did you do the graphics? They are brilliant! I'm soooootrying to get the inspiration for a game and I almost got it. Lol how did you get your inspiration? How does a nice guy like you come up with a game idea?. Sorry just noisy and curious
No problem, I'm happy to answer The game was made in Unity, and I used 3d studio max for the 3d graphics, and photoshop for the textures. The inspiration was a mixture of a random idea I had combined with being exposed to Crossy Road and finding it to be brilliant. The original idea for the game was that it was supposed to be 100% focused on huge hordes of creatures chasing you. I started by making spiders, but then quickly decided that it wasn't that great of an idea. Firstly, tons of creatures cause older phones to lag (and I wanted to be sure the game would run on the iPhone 4), and secondly, I couldn't think of interesting ways to make all the creatures different. Sure, maybe they'd have different attacks and speeds or whatever, but whether it's a spider chasing you, or a cockroach, or a rat, or a bat, or a zombie, or whatever, it all felt like it would be variations of the same thing, and therefore would get boring fast. So, I had an idea to add spikes that pop out of the floor at you, to give the game some variation. Then I figured it would be cool to add some pits and holes. Then gates. Then fire. Etc. Eventually the game became focused on the obstacles, and the creatures (spiders/skeletons) were pushed to the wayside and segregated to their own quest. Maybe in the future I'll add another creature-focused quest, but for now the spiders/skellys aren't an important focus of the game.
A new version of The Quest Keeper is on the App Store! Here is the changelog for version 1.02: It took Apple 11 days to approve this version, so in the meantime a couple other minor bugs were spotted (whose fixes will definitely appear in a future update), but this update should cover the vast majority of issues people were having with the game! If you notice any other bugs, please don't hesitate to let me know.
I love this game!!!! I am almost tired of seeing Crosby road references. If I had to compare/contrast I would say Quest Keeper took Crossy Road and made it a real game. Though the TA review is great I do not see how you can say so much about Crossy Road (which is great, but is just a tap game), giving it 5 stars & not give this 5 stars. Nothing is really perfect but this game is fantastic. Great Dev involvement!!!!
I have an idea for an update: Once you get the artifact in a given quest, that dungeon then becomes an infinite dungeon. Each dungeon is great so it would be cool to run different dungeons infinitely. Just a thought from a guy that loves this game!!!
Great story, thank you! It's always interesting to know what was behind the game or film. When I think of what kind of amazing game I would make some day, I am stuck on creation a catching idea. When someone releases a new game, I think: "Dude, that was obvious!"
