Thanks for the suggestions! I like your idea of having the log speed/slow depending on which direction you roll it. As for your other suggestions, they're all great! The next update will primarily be a bug fix update, but after that I will brainstorm some new ideas and consider current suggestions when figuring out what to add to the game. I was also thinking that maybe once you beat quests you unlock 'endless' mode for them, in which you'll be able to submit your score to a scoreboard for each one. We'll see.
Yea it's a great idea. Currently the game has no achievements, but that would make achievements easy to implement. I was even thinking, each quest would have a star rating from 1-5, that you could try to earn to prove your skills. To get stars for each quest you have to complete the specific different missions for each one. I'd need to add more content to the quests before this would be possible though. For example, I don't know if I can come up with 5 different missions for each quest in their current state. The spider quest, for example, only has 1 enemy and 1 obstacle type. Hard to come up with lots of different creative ideas for the 'simpler' quests. Lots of food for thought for the time being
Originally I had planned to add stats to the game, but then didn't want to overcomplicate it. Unfortunately stats are not tracked at all, even behind the scenes, in the game's current state. However, it wouldn't be hard to add that in, in an update. Glad to hear your preference for the isometric view! Right now the quest rewards scale down until they hit 50. Then it stays at 50. I originally implemented that because I was afraid that players may figure out ways to beat certain quests very easily and thus mine them for lots of coins over and over. With all the gear and perks and things that are available, it's hard to test them all in a short span of time and make sure none of them can be exploited, etc. So that was my workaround....just reduce the rewards of quests that people play over and over. Maybe I'll let quests reset or something after a while? Haven't really considered that too much to be honest.
Hey Mike, you are very gracious in your defense of me, and the game! I appreciate it! While sometimes it's hard to empathize with players who expect everything for free, I can certainly understand that some ads are much more intrusive than others. That's why I ultimately decided to remove pop-up video ads from the game. It's a tough spot you're pushed into as a developer, sometimes. Premium games are pirated like crazy and therefore unless you make a viral hit there's not much money there. F2P/Freemium games make money, but loud minorities of players will shit all over them for trying to monetize. Ad-based games are often in that same boat. It's really tough finding a balance between player retention and financial viability. Ignoring people who complain about ads can lead to low-star ratings on the app store, thereby driving away other potential players...not to mention player retention will be low. But removing ads will kill the profitability of your game. There's no easy solution....it's all about trying to find the right balance, and listening to your audience. That's why I take reasonable complaints about ad implementation seriously.
From what I can tell the small lag seems to happen just before a gate appears onscreen. This was the case the last two times I noticed it at least.
Any plans to add achievements via Game Center? Loads of some cool achievement opportunities with this game.
It was something I thought about...my only gripe is that it would require a Game Center login screen to popup when the game starts. I hate when games do that, and it is a serious deterrent to me wanting to play a game that does. Although maybe it's not as big of a deal as I tend to assume.
If you check the leaderboards through Game Center, you can see that almost 104,000 people have scores posted. You are winning, brother!
The Game Center login is not a big deal for many people. But a lot of people really like GC achievements!
Oh, cool! I only wondered because that's much lower than the actual total number (I guess not everyone has tried accessing the scoreboards). Currently sitting at 750k!
And that's exactly why you need Game Center to automatically log people in! Otherwise, how will Touch Arcade members know how well you're actually doing In all seriousness, super awesome congratulations to you!
The shoes totally changes the way I game. Instead of Crossy Cleats, I use Nimble Boots and wow they totally rock. I can outmaneuver traps and shorten the horizontal movement. Plus I can do jump and move left/right while on air. Noice.
Jump shoes changed the game for me, so OP (but awesome). Screenshot is my best distance yet was stuck on 340ish forever. LOVE THIS GAME.
