Hi all, please keep on mind that the enchanting is really important from the start of the base game. As the shops in the game are limited to enchant items up to 750 and you will find items that can be enchanted more (800, 1000, 1500, 2000 and higher), it is obvious that you need to enchant such items by yourself. To be able to do this, you definitely need to learn the enchant spell. The book of Enchant can be bought in Vastares, the second city after the Matras on your way through the main game. For the uber enchanting you need to boost your Environment Magic and Fortify Magic skills. So, once you learn the Enchant spell, go for shopping and buy enchantable items. For the first time use the magic shops to enchant those items for gold. Weapons and dresses can be enchanted with Environment Magic, but not with Fortify Magic (only given weapons, like Archmage Staff for example, can have it). Fortify Magic can be added only to the jewellery (necklaces and rings). Finally you will need the Fortify Magic potions. There are four of them: 1. Small (can be bought in Matras) 2. Strong (can be bought in Vastares and Phryn) 3. Ultimate (can be bought in Phryn and Mithria) 4. Homemade For concote your own Fortify Magic potions you will need certain plants, knowledge of the plants (from books) and good Alchemy skill. Then the Homemade Fortify Magic potion will add +132%. To concote Fortify Magic potion combine any two of following plants: * Blue Thorn * Purple Fairy Ring flower * Toadscap * Torstal Root Let us enchant! Make sure you have enough Mana points and save the game. Then wear your best Environment Magic gear and Fortify Magic jewellery and drink all kinds of Fortify Magic potion you have. Finally cast the Enchant spell and see how many enchant points you have. If you are not satisfied, just load the save game before enchanting and boost your skills more. Of course, when you are at the beginning, you will not have all the potions, so your ability to enchant items will reach around 300-400. But it should be enough in this stage of the game. Also, to maximize your potion usage per item to be enchanted, make sure to fortify your Intelligence as well prior to casting Enchant. This will help you have a much greater mana pool to Enchant multiple times before you drink your first full mana potion.
For beginners a very strong character is the nogur, but change some of his abilities like him having healing magic and attack magic. Ive wiped the floor with everything so far without any enchantments on my weapons or armour, as first play for me was difficult lol You can instantly equip heavy armour and weapons too, mone thing i never had really had a use for was feather? Although maybe thats because the nogur can just carry more. Whats great about this game is all the diffrent ways to play it successfully, its a lot of fun! Some great posts on hear, im not too keen on the reach level 80 alchemy for that one buff? Lol seems like a waste of time and effort as it wud take a long time, but it sounds good. What other characters have you tried altering abilities with that are good for playthroughs? Out the ones ive personally tried a nogur with magic abilities is devastating, any others that i can try? Pls let us know what you guys are playing with!?
Actually, getting 80 in alchemy isn't as hard as it sounds. You just have to think outside of the normal means. I just enchant several pieces of equipment with the alchemy skill, equip it, make my potions and then equip my normal gear.
I try to roleplay as much as possible, instead of powerplay. I play as a Derth who relies on his magic/potions. Not sure if it is going to be optim on the long run, but let's play a day at a time.
I've always preferred playing as Derth as well. I think they have some of best race benefits overall.
Robot Oil (fortifies melee, restores mana and some hp)- Mix one ingedient that fortifies melee, restores mana and restores health.

To the Devs.. Also sent a PM Not sure if it's a bug or not.. But the mission where you need to find the killer (and the chest from the hollow tree) once I've done that, the mission is completed. But... I need to let 1 person know that I found the killer and when I go to there. I tell her, that I found the killer, and there is no response after that. All I can say is Goodbye. I'm pretty sure on the old version several years ago, there was more to it.. but i could be wrong. Is it correct or is it a glitch?
I need help. I am an Etherim, level 10. Can get past the unnamed one. Tried more than a dozen times. I have not much money left. Only thing that seems to hurt the unnamed one is the Harm undead wand, but it only has 6 charges. Not enough to kill him and my Thurm sword has almost no effect. Stone skin scroll has almost no effect either. I also wonder : if my skill for heavy armor is not so high, is it useless to wear heavy armor? I guess I made the wrong choices building my character, put a lot of points in attack magic.
From what I recall, I think that was also a bug in the original. I could be thinking about another quest, though. LOL.
Is that the one in the Sunken Monastery? If so, only enchanted weapons can harm him. If you don't have the enchant spell just go to any magic shop. Enchant your weapon with something good and send him back to where he came from!
He is not an Alchemist. He's just an old farmer. The book is about snake venom (and doesn't give you any skill points).
You can do that quest in multiple ways. However, just by getting the chest doesn't finish it. Who did you give the chest to?
Thanks for the answer, but enchanting an item only affects the height of my skills, not the item itself or am I wrong? Still hasn't beaten him.
I forgot that this was also apart of another separate quest. This link should help. http://thequest.wikia.com/wiki/Nobleman%27s_Inheritance_Quest
Doh! I had so many expansions installed on the old one I couldn't remember what was from the vanilla game. LOL!
You should only need an enchanted weapon. It shouldn't matter what it's enchanted with, though. What weapon and enchantment are you using?
