speaking of making things up: you. I'm in top rankings I know how the game works and have a pretty good feel for who cheated and who surged ahead because of a huge influx of iaps. Pretty much everyone over me outside of a scarce few are one or the other, and there's certainly nothing wrong with the latter so more power to 'em.

I posted in support of this game for a while, then started leaving feedback on the stuff where the game just starts to break down. Obviously I'm not the only one who thinks so because he made the game FAR easier in Korea, pretty much in line with what I was suggesting, at least as far as the economy goes.

And I don't care what you think on the matter or how much I talk about it: It's BS to design a game that encourages you to run your phone as much as this one does when it has no reason to. I dunno why you're OK with a game being designed to be competitive where the only way you can compete is to physically damage your phone.

I'm not dishonestly bashing this game. and even if I were, blaming me is absurd. The dev isn't offering a counterpoint or even talking to us anymore, and that's on him. I have zero problem telling people "Don't play this game and let it destroy your phone for no good reason, especially with the dev MIA"

I don't know why some of you are complaining that the dev is MIA. I e-mailed him a week ago asking him if he had any tips on how to get over my wall and if there were any coupon codes for keys. He wrote me back this morning giving me a custom coupon code for a RIDICULOUS amount of keys.

I'm surprised some of you are buying into the "this will hurt my phone" myths. I'll let you do your own research, but smart phones are smart... they're not going to keep charging and ruin a battery that's charged. Leaving your phone on is also fine as long as you shut it off for 30 minutes every week.

What damages phones is excessive temperature. I've left Billy Bob on all night, and my phone is still very cool to the touch. (I use the Power Save Mode On feature in the game menu - if that makes a difference)
I've uninstalled a few games that turned my phone into a hand warmer.

Yeah, no. My old iPod can't really hold much of a charge anymore, and is pretty unresponsive to a couple of my charger cables. It was good early on and I kept it on my charger for nearly its whole life. So from experience on a device that's a few years old, battery wear and tear does happen.

There's another matter of leaving the device on for too long, the screen may have a "burn in" with permanent damage. I've worked in a couple bars over the years that never turned their keno screens off and other gambling and arcade games. Lots of screens had a burnt image on the games, even prior things that were in the cabinet.

This isn't the only game out there with balance issues. I know Cookie Collector 2 is a far worse offender, particularly if you're aiming for the level 100 bakery achievements which will literally take several months of active device usage to even get, just for a single bakery. The bonuses aren't worth the trouble, and the developer doesn't care about fixing balance issues and would rather nerf things so people can buy more IAP.

I know the upcoming update here will bring better things, but right now I wouldn't bother much with the game with progress as constrained as it is. I have hundreds of other apps, I can play them instead.

Completely wrong on the batteries and only heat being an issue. I work with drones and LiPos primarily, which are different than the lithium ions phones use, but there's one thing all rechargeable batteries have in common: limited amounts of charge cycles. The more you burn the battery and it has to recharge, the more the battery deteriorates. You won't notice the degradation for a while, but it DOES happen. Every phone has a limited amount of times it can be recharged, and eventually it doesn't hold a charge for long at all.

In theory you're ok running it plugged in at night, but it doesn't really matter with a game like this... I had my phone open for WEEKS playing this game and chewed through WAY more charge cycles than I should have. Simply put, it devalues your phone to play this game the way the dev intended, which is stupid because a game like this doesn't HAVE to be running to progress.

Right, but I made the remarks I did based on comments like this:

...which (I thought) had to do with frying a $300 phone,
    not a $12 battery.

Well yeah, if I perma-enabled backlighting and just left it on a bright picture for WEEKS, I fully agree that would damage the phone screen.
Why would someone do that though?

I guess I should clarify that when I'm talking about leaving my phone on, I'm talking - 2 to 3 hours at a time. I've let Billy Bob run all night 3 times total in the two weeks I've had the game.

I personally don't understand the rush to be a top player, or to go to that excess to leave the game on.

    $12 battery?

You make it sound like people just slap new batteries on their phones all the time.

For one, I never said that. For two, I'm not interesting in continuing a conversation that's going to bait between the lines.

    Have a good one,

I don't think the developer did anything malicious. I would think this is more on the lines of not play testing things thoroughly and not seeing how bad progression gets in the late game. They aren't the first to screw up in that regard, and even that's not a real bad imbalance compared to other games with an end game that can't be reached in a lifetime even with significant money spent on IAP.

To be fair to the developer, I hear the early game is much better with the newest update the Koreans have. I don't think people should avoid the game entirely. I just wouldn't focus too much on what the game is now until that big update hits.

Sorry. My wife tried in on her account/system and looks like it was a 1 time use only code.
...which isn't surprising since the code itself was "THX" and part of my first name. ;)

I don't see why he wouldn't give you a code if you asked him for it. All I did was e-mail him, telling him what I thought of the game (which I like it) and asked if he had any pointers on how to get over my wall. I also asked him if any coupon codes were going to be for keys.

He replied asking how the weather was where I am, and said thanks for the feedback and gave me a code to use. The code e-mailed me was worth 50,000 keys.

Dev didn't do anything malicious. Game has some flaws but that's not the problem.

Look: If he stops in and changes how the game works while offline, I'd happily play it and endorse it, but he's ignoring the people asking him to look at the issues, which IMO the largest one is how it's not a good idea to run games actively on your phone 24/7. Game has other issues which he ignored us on, even when it was already being addressed in Korea and he'd stop in long enough to drop some codes.

Whatevs. Knock yourselves out if you wanna ignore the warnings on damaging your phones with a game like this. But if you're curious look up "charge cycle" and understand how that applies to your phone (and I imagine most of you understand that damaging a "$12 battery" means you'll have to replace your phone that much sooner)

It's probably a counter measure on cheats that change the system time. So let's make time cheating as inconvenient as possible. Some developers take cheating seriously and hamper the game for everyone else.

It's not a well thought out policy anyway with unequal timers and treating quests with an equal number of payouts.

Ya that was my take on it as well, but there's no point in doing it since there's already cheaters on the leaderboard.

Preventing cheaters isn't worth all of this.

First, what evidence do you have (besides the very high floor number) that those people are cheating? You do realize there's NO CAP for ring of power, critical damage, quest or monster gold, right?

Second, the dev doesn't MAKE you leave your phone on to win/move forward. If you need to be at the top of the leaderboard, then drop a few grand into the game like a true spender and THEN tell me where you end up.

I'm doing just fine with 0 overnight plays (since my last post here) and making excellent progress.

    On a lighter note...

    HEARTWARMING is for 200 gems.
BIILYBOB is for 250 gems. (I didn't type that code wrong)

There were people with hundreds of thousands of floors in the first 2-3 weeks.

It's not hard to spot a cheater, and honestly it's not hard to cheat. If I hadn't updated my phone I could have cheated as well.

Hell, it'd be pretty easy if I jail broke my phone

Android update has hit. Developer promises iOS version will come sometime after iTunes Connect opens back up next week.

There's new costumes with buffs. These are not cheap at all. There's 6 tabs with four different paid options by gems. The first 5 tabs have costs of 1k, 3k, 4k, and 5k gems. The 6th tab all have four items costing 3000 each. Not all of these items are useful, in fact some of these become worthless once the 500th floor is reached. I'm assuming only one effect can be active per equipment type, though these can be easily changed.

One new quest is added called "Make a Girl Friend." (yes, really) It has a 10 minute timer just like the quests before it. There's 3 new weapons added as well. One new pet called Princess. Comes with one of three possible buffs every 10 whips from Billy with 31% chance each, and a 7% chance of hitting all three.

There's also a way to get daily gems. Not sure if this will affect the coupons.

Edit: Added screenshot link for one of the equipment pages. http://imgur.com/k9406bH
