I seem to be stuck at dusk while playing offline. Some people on GFAQs say they're stuck at night time... not sure what's going on.
Did you switch from online to offline? Because when I do that, the time and the weather both freeze. If you start the game from the title screen without going online then it should be always sunny, but the clock works fine. Hopefully they'll fix it soon after it gets released. How are you finding the game anyway?
I'm not even sure where you switch to offline in-game... the menus are still too new to me. Really enjoying the game though. There are a few minor niggles... the screen shake at high speeds keeps making me think it's the frame rate stuttering, the head turning in cockpit view puts me off so I'm sticking to bumper view, you can't erase stickers without undoing your paint choice and those phone calls can get intrusive. Small issues though, everything else is awesome. I'm really surprised at the variety in the terrain, I didn't think there would be as many hills and slopes as this, it makes for some exciting races.
I think the only way to switch online/offline is by pressing the home button while playing and going into XMB to sign in/out. It took me a while to figure that out. The frame rate seems to drop at times when online, but it's perfect for me when offline. And yeah, the phone calls and cringeworthy characters can sometimes get annoying, but thankfully you can skip cut scenes and phone calls. The variety in the terrain is definitely impressive. I particularly like the desert area in the middle of the island. I spent a long time yesterday just exploring the area with my Range Rover. And the weather effects look really nice too, especially the rain. Hopefully the developers will sort out some of the little problems, because for me the game feels close to being perfect.
Yeah it's awesome for relaxing. I'm quite tempted to buy a wheel. Did you notice the manual seems a little inconsistent with the game? I was looking up the GPS stuff and it says destination route is red, undiscovered roads are dark grey and discovered roads are light grey. On my game the discovered roads are blue and the destination route looks more orange.
The manual shifting does seem a bit clunky for me too, I'm sticking to automatic for the time being. The GPS colours are the same for me as what you describe, I guess they decided to change them after writing the instruction manual. I've also noticed that on very rare occasions, an odd AI car decides to drive on the wrong side of the road. Perhaps they decided to include forgetful English drivers for added realism?
Anyone play(ing) Scott Pilgrim? I've been playing with my sisters for the past week and having a blast. Everything about it is epic.
Still undecided about Test Drive Unlimited 2, game comes out in like 2 days for us common folk. On another note, just beat Dead Space 2 which was an amazing game, going to replay it on hardcore now.
Midian, do you think there's any chance we'll lose our save data or have to start again when TDU2 gets patched/updated? I'm not sure if I should progress with the singleplayer any further before the patch(es) are out in case I have to start again. I asked the same question of the TDU2 forums, but nobody seemed to know, so I'm hoping that you might know more about how save data and patches work. And if anyone is looking for a club to join, the club I'm in - cross bones bike club has plenty of free spaces.
I'm pretty sure they can't physically delete your save data. Usually if they want to start with a clean slate they just clear server records like leaderboard scores/times but your progress stays as it is. I don't think there's a massive advantage to people who started early... not enough to kill the game for newcomers, so it doesn't seem like there's a huge reason they need to start anew.
Ok, thanks. I guess many people will get their copy of the game a day or two early with normal pre-orders, so they can't really release a patch that would reset/delete your progress.
Yeah I've had about 50 games arrive before release over the years, PS3 and 360 and never once lost progress because of it. One or two leaderboard wipes but I don't use them anyway.
Wow crap i randomly made this thread one day and now it's got 151 pages lmao, anyways who'd waiting for twisted metal?
Wow... Red Dead Redemption is fantastic! No wonder it was game of the year so much last year. Online is kinda dumb though when you're this late to the party.
All of the TDU2 pre-order bonuses are on PSN already. They're only unlock keys which means we technically own the content already (meh) but I don't mind too much considering I saved about £6 on the price of the game anyway. I'm getting my Catheram R500!
Already on the PS store huh? I'll have to take a look in a minute. I'll probably get the Caterham R500 too, which I would've got with my Amazon pre-order. I test drove the Ariel Atom and it has light handling and very fast acceleration, like a motorcycle. I expect the R500 will feel similar.
I'm loving the Catheram in hood view (the one between cockpit and bumper cam), normally I don't use it but it's awesome being able to see the stripes, headlights and wheels on this thing.
I've just won a V8 buggy and it's pretty cool. And I'm still searching for the last 2 wrecks in area 1 to get the VW Beetle which I desperately want.
