Yeah I don't often care too much about the storyline in games, but for AC2 it was probably the primary driving force. I just had to find out what all that Adam/Eden stuff was about... but to be honest, I finished the game and I still don't know. I suppose in that sense it's a bit of a cop out.
The one thing that killed the story for me, was the whole "Playing as an ancestor" BS. To be honest the first AC game I played was the one for the DS (Now on the iPhone too) and it mentioned nothing of that and I loved it. Then I got an Xbox and was all excited for AC1 and I was like "WTF Is this shit?". It made no sense to me, and I didnt play it long enough to see if it tied together well or whatever. That aspect ruined it for me bad... and I don't think it was supposed to ruin it for me. It just did >.>
Does anyone play Borderlands, and if so, is the online multiplayer still active? I just bought a PS3 a few weeks ago to replace my old 360 (RRoD), and Borderlands was one of my favorite games on the system.
http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/gametrailers-tv/107?ep=107 Great Rock Band 3 preview, details on the new instruments, Pro mode etc. Apparently Pro mode is winning over the "musical elite" whom used to frown upon plastic instruments (hey Booch! ). I need this game now. Right now. Oh, and stuff on Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit and Vanquish. Lookin' good.
Alright, never played Fallout 3 and just got Fallout: New Vegas today. I'm so frustrated with it! I continue to die and don't know what to do after the tutorial but try to explore, then die, repeat. Can someone help me?
Just got home and picked up my copies of Vanquish and Fallout: NV (yay!). I haven't started playing yet though... but yeah, Fallout's map is more or less completely open, so you can get to high level areas too early if you wander off (but that's part of the excitement ). I'm guessing there will be a nearby town or sort of "hub" area where people will be handing out quests, so you want to stick to that place and only go where they tell you for the time being, unless you just want to explore and take the risk of dying. If I'm totally wrong, apologies. I'm playing Vanquish first so I won't actually know what NV is like for a few hours yet. EDIT: Adding this to both the PS3 and 360 threads 'cause I feel it's important. Vanquish is an excellent game, read for details on length: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-vanquish-blog-entry
Brilliant article Johnny. I can tell you that I spent 40 minutes on the first part of the game alone. I got my ass handed to me by the boss 4 times. They are totally right, the better you get, the better the game gets... Just like Bayonetta.
Fallout: New Vegas just got released, so I go and buy Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Makes sense? No. But I'm very glad I did buy it. I'm actually liking it a lot more than Fallout 3. Fallout 3 was good, but my main problem with it was the boring, depressing, bland environment. It's nice to have some colour and life in Oblivion. It's quite an old game now, but it feels like a recent game. The graphics and gameplay appear to be up to date and also the performance is also much better. Fallout 3 is completely unplayable at times with FPS decreases and frequent freezes. And sometimes this means I have to restart my PS3 and lose the time I put into the game before it froze). I'll probably get Fallout New Vegas in a couple of years. It looks less depressing than F3 because it has the Vegas strip and more colourful environments.
Is anyone else finding hardcore mode on New Vegas a little intimidating? I mean, wow. You need to constantly think about food, drink and sleeping in addition to HP and rads (which were annoying enough already). Some food makes you thirsty, drinking alcohol gradually increases HP but raises thirst, pretty much all food and drink gives you radioactive poisoning, you need to hunt for ingredients to make food over a campfire using recipes... it's full on. Plus HP regeneration from healing items is gradual (which do you choose, +2 HP/15 sec, or +5 HP/5 sec?) and crippled limbs can no longer be fixed without the aid of a doctor. Oh, and money/ammo has weight. Hardcore is too light a word! Just thought I'd point out... that's not normal. I've put over 100 hours into FO3 on PS3 and never had the game chug along or freeze. Oblivion though... that's frozen for me on both 360 and PS3 several times.
That's strange. Fallout 3 probably freezes (permanently) an average of once every hour for me. It also drops to really low FPS (0-1 FPS) in certain areas. I have the GOTY edition, so I don't know if that makes any difference. Oblivion on the other hand runs smoothly most of the time. Only occasionally the FPS drops, but not really enough to get annoying.
Better late than never I suppose cos oblivion is still such an awesome game which I play occasionally even though its like 5(??) years old. There is so much to do in it. And I still sit in wait for Bethesda to announce TESV. Maybe next year
Possibly due to one of the DLC packs, I had the normal edition along with just one of the DLC's. Apparently one of them caused freezing though... that's a real shame if it affects the entire GOTY version of the game, I thought it'd be restricted to the DLC area only.
