Well it's just 1 man doing all the programming. One man... in a cape. And a mask. Peering heroically into the horizon...hair blowing in the wind... . . Thank you for the nice words
The increase in sales is minor, what all your hard work has done is prevent it free-falling, basically without your nice reviews and stars, TOB was going down every day, now it is level and slightly rising slowly which has stopped it like an elevator that was heroically saved by the wrench from the great guys on this forum I shudder to think what it would have been had you guys not helped. It's just a picture of a swinging monkey
Well now I've had a chance to play with the new controls, I can leave some impressions, first while the new controls work much better as its now playable there still not perfect (like, league of evil or mikeŷ shorts) The actual game I'm not a big fan of where as other platformer games you know you have to make your way from the left side of the level to the right here I felt like I'm lost half the time and not owing where I actually have to go. Also it's not always clear what's in the background and what your able to jump on, something like mario it was always obvious what you could land or jump on. I'm really loving the art style it looks fantastic but to me it feels like more effort has gone into the art than the level design. I haven't mentioned that the difficulty is pretty hard compared to most iOS games which I not mind but if you want to make a hard game then the controls need to be spot on. Now that's based on this being just a video game as if you bring the price into it it's impossible to complain because App Store games are stupidly cheap. Well that's just my opinion, I'll play some more but overall I love the art style a lot more than the gameplay.
You'll love episode 2 then! In this episode there's a couple of frenetic high-paced but not so difficult levels which are left to right. I hope that will please you Plus the later levels of Episode 1 are pretty linear in some places. A more cinematic approach was taken for Ep 2.
Some complaints, The timer shouldn't reset on death. After death it's stupid to have the spawn point right next to an enemy. I've ended several games because I respawned next to enemies which killed me for good. Scores recorded should be the high score in each category, I don't really like having to collectathon every single game because I missed a yellow bird and each score resets to the most recent. That just cripples the experience for a completist and makes me want to get everything once and never play the level again. Maybe this isn't a game to replay?
Really enjoying this now. Completed a few levels (I don't mind about scores or that at all). Glad the difficulty is quite high, think often we're pampered with easy games. Haven't had any issues respawning where an enemy is Like the controls now a lot!
This. I would prefer that my high score for each level be preserved, so that I can replay levels without worrying about collecting pigeons and oil cans just to preserve my 3 star ratings. For me, the fact that star-ratings reset is preventing me from replaying the levels.
To make this clear once again. Your STAR rating will be be preserved with our next update. @psj3809 - I am glad you like it!
In some cruel twist of irony, control option B is not gelling with me at all. The effective area is strangely small, if you're even slightly outside of the graphic it won't register, but if you're too close to the center it won't register either. I have pretty small thumbs, and this is playing on an iPad too. Could the touch not continue to register even if you drag your thumb off the end of the graphic?
Kind of funny that the now static Controls are worse then the original.. You ill be walking and stopping walking and stopping, Jump a hole, stop half way and fall in it.... Maybe you guys just should have someone else come up with control schemes for your games
So folks are happy with the controls now? Because I'm... really not. And I was hoping the update would make the game playable.
You can customize controls ; I find it much more playable then before when I had to pay more attention to floating pad then playing game
With option B I find myself constantly looking at it to make sure my thumb lands precisely on the input area, I guess this is why I'm not a big fan of virtual controls period.
I initially tried control option B, but I just couldn't get a feel for it. Moved on to option C, which is almost perfect, save for the lack of diagonals. At least with the fixed d-pad, I can now play the game comfortably. Maybe in a future update - after more content is added - the devs could add diagonals to the fixed d-pad (option C)? In any event, the new control get the job done. This easily my favorite mobile platformer. Anywho, I beat the first boss, now I'm onto the next set of levels
Good job! watch out for swinging wrecking balls (that you can climb the chains for if you're crazy enough to be Tarzan).
Congratulations, you are now even more semi-famous, I reprinted your icade Q&A into Toucharcade's hdmi thread below: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2779280&postcount=246
